Last year at the dome, this year in Bolton...heck, every time we've played them but 2004, Linfield has taken too much time to adjust to the umhb speed on the edge. That can't happen this time. Out scoring this offensive juggernaut is a difficult proposition to tackle, instead, the new 'grind it out cats' are going to have to show up. We are going to have to run, be effective on 3rd down, and hold onto the ball- both turnover wise and clock wise. Riddle will always take his shots, but opportunistic shots. Last playoff game in Benton, Hoff was a 1 man wrecking cru. Who shall step up this weekend??

No question contain Jackson's ability to run is a big deal. On the other side Cats couldn't run in the first game and the second half UMBH didn't worry about run game and put to much pressure on Sam. A running game is a must for the Cat's passing game to excel. I really like where are running game is now compared to early season.

Especially on 3rd and long defensively. UMHB converted several times when Cats had them in a bad position. Jackson was the key both with his arm and legs.
Agreed--that being said--we have to force Jackson to beat us with his arm (not his legs)---when he was under pressure to throw in the first game, his accuracy was reduced and that's what we need on Saturday.

I'm not sure about defensive schemes... Redlands must have done something in the 1st half to slow them down.... anybody watch that .... what did they do? Seemed like last time we played them the qb was always taking off down field.
2 fumbles and a pick are what they did to slow them down....despite the score--MHB only punted once in the first half.
Go Cats!

Redlands sat in their base 3-3-5 most of the time, once in a while in 4-2-5. They forced some quick throws bringing four in their 4-2, occasional brought 5. This is why missing the double pass was critical, it would forced MHB into throwing the ball more. MHB throws the ball on running downs a lot.

The issue was the QB just killing us to the back side, we would plug the outside option, jam the receiver pass, then boom QB is gone. They ran the RPO to death, many times the backside DE or LB had him and just could not make the play. He was clearly the difference maker. I think if I am the DC I widen my DE and send him to tackle the QB every play. If they ran stuff under him so be it, we react...

Exactly right, Olddog. The backside LB and DE were in a perfect position to make the play, but you know what they say in football "speed kills". Blake Jackson reminds me of Andy Collins, same type of QB who is slippery and extends plays with his legs. Linfield should have their most athletic LB spy him the whole game. It's a tall order, but stopping him is the key to beating MHB.

D O.C.

It's Bolton when you're trash talkin'.

You know my opinion: Riddle and Jackson are the two best.
I'll take another mistake free game and our defensive backs.
Jackson will run, but Sam I Am can too and there's nothing to save it for.

I suspect UMHB was trying to get by Redlands with same old. They'll have new wrinkles this week.

It is a basic game plan, take away their best player and make plays. I still think the key to beating MHB is LF or Redlands has to play mistake free. A couple other mental mistakes were two coverage errors that cost us TDs...safety made two bad reads and went away from the WR going down seam. Oh well the boys played their hearts out.

Hello gentlemen.

Quick story.

So I'm watching the selection show on 11-13 and see Linfield gets pleasure of 2 potential consecutive weeks in Texas.  I send this text to my pal WC11.

TDT 6:25pm: Did you sh!t in the committee's breakfast?  Man tough draw and no home game.

WC11 11:51pm: This is not the person you are trying to reach.  I got this phone number recently.

Bahahahaha looks like my pal 11 got new digits.  Made me smile ear to ear picturing this person receiving that text message!

Happy Thanksgiving to my buddy Gig Harbor Cat and Wildcat11.  Give em hell this weekend.

Looking forward to a great game in Belton. Looks like we're picked to loose in a fairly tight game by the d3football staff. We play our second road game in a row as the underdog. Go 'Cats!!!

The team had a nice Thanksgiving meal at the Covenant Church Thursday and flew out afterwards. Weather looks great for a football game in Texas....

Should be another classic battle today.    Our O and D will play great today.     LC 33,   MHB 28.
