We heard in the stands Saturday night that the team is going to still rotate Parker Moore's 35.
Jake Reimer was wearing it during Chapman game, I believe.

Was talking to a close friend of mine whose Son is now is at George Fox, was telling me his son gave a good hard look at PLU but eventually choose George Fox. Told me PLU not having it's own football stadium on campus was really a big factor in his decision. I would imagine this continues to hurt PLU in recruiting, with a program with as much tradition as PLU how do they still not have their own stadium? I know a while back there were talks of a new stadium but that seems to have died off. Anyone have any knowledge on PLU getting a stadium anytime soon?

Mr. Bluenote... you know by now no one gives player information on this board.

How can you discuss the game without player info? LOL!  :P
i can neither confirm nor deny that there was a game if such things even exist.

;D .... you already started Happy Hour?
I'm a Dodgers fan.  I've been deep in the bottle for a few weeks now....

Looking forward to watching "The Doyers" carry their implosion into October. Vamos Gigantes!

I thought Wilder was particularly impressive with his limited amount of playing time.  He certainly has good speed and can run the ball.  Unfortunately he had the one bad interception but he exhibited he could throw the long ball as well.

Agreed. RPO will be a nightmare with him running the offense.

Wilder looks to be quick and fast and having him on the field with Fowler would be interesting... I can see him playing slot when he isn't at QB..

Who was wearing #35 for the Cats on Saturday?  Who is #27 that was doing the returns on kickoffs?  Been awhile since we had an explosive return game for kick offs...

Great win for the Cats!

Andy,  as DOC confirmed Jake Reimer was wearing number 35.

#27 is Keegan Weiss and is a Southern Oregon Transfer out of Grants Pass High School.  Nnoli is also a SOU transfer (Beaverton High) as well and both dudes the 'Cats recruited out of High School.

Both QB's are going to continue to get better but Wilder has an elusiveness that you can't teach and you don't see much around D3.

Loved the blog and the highlights, Wildcat 11 - many thanks, as I was in a location where my internet was very spotty and the best I could get most of the night was live stats.

Regarding Linfield's last back-to-back losses to a team at the same  level, I don't think it was that pair in 2006 - Western Oregon had moved into NCAA Division II by then and their website lists them as an NCAA DII independent that season.

The last back-to-back DIII losses - if you count going over two seasons - would have been the 2009 DIII semifinal loss at UW-Whitewater, 27-17, and the 2010 season-opening loss at Cal Lutheran, 47-42. The last back-to-back losses within the same season to teams at the same level (DIII / NAIA) would have been in 2001, a 29-0 loss at Southern Oregon (four days after 9/11) and a 31-20 home loss to Pacific Lutheran.

Looking forward to your take on Saturday's game, and really looking forward to being there and seeing what unfolds. The last time these teams met in Mac likely rates as the best football game I've ever seen, or is at least on the very short list.

D O.C.

I mentioned the play from my phone during the game on the Updates board but it's worth another go-around...

One of my favorite plays in the last 50 years was Eric Hedin intercepting a pass and taking it 50 yards for 6 in 2009 against UMHB.

During the Chapman game on the 9th, I had a play added to my favorites collection. If I knew the player's name or number I would not mention it because I imagine he has taken enough pokes in the ribs from his peers.
Chapman had scored their 2nd TD in the north end zone. They only had 12 points so they went for a 2 with a pass. Our guy intercepted the PAT and knew enough to take off for the south end zone. He had a good lead and an escort formed behind him with several shield blocks. 50 yards later in front of the WILDCAT bench he was doing fine. Maybe it seemed to good to be true. After 70 yards he turned his head halfway to check out pursuit. That caused him to lose equilibrium and 10 yards later he fell to the ground. Even though I know how it must feel, I laughed a frustrated laugh while others around me groaned.

May his chance come again.

(I remember when Devan Illingsworth <Go Spartans!> took a fumble 95 yards agaist Lewis and Clark his freshman year>)

At this rate, there may be no October....   :'( :'( :'(
Go Cats!

Since this is a big game, I will be staying in McMinnville this Friday. Pre-game breakdown over boilermakers on Friday evening at a local?

I was impressed with the young cats Saturday. I have thoughts on the Wilder situation, but they aren't safe for the board.

Last time #1 ranked defending champs came to the dome? The 80's I suppose. We went to ply in 2000 in the same situation. We all know how that turned out...

Having to choose between playing football at fox or plu??? Ewwww. Poor kid must be paying for past life transgressions.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

The stadium comes down to money. There is a committee of former players working on it but without a single major donor it likely won't happen anytime soon.

When was the last time Linfield lost back to back d3 games...or NAIA before we were all NCAA members?

That would be 2006:

9/16/06      Abilene, Texas      Hardin-Simmons 21, Linfield 6     Box score
9/9/06      McMinnville, Ore.      Western Oregon 28, Linfield 14     Box score

not back to back games in general...I remember Linfield in 06 and knew they lost back to back that year...specifically back to back d3 games, or games to opponents in the same "division"

ie UMHB, Whitworth...  ;D

D O.C.

Ah yes, there's that terrible 13-17 shellacking at the hands of the eventual NWC champion again.
I forget, what happened in the playoffs after that?  I cannot find a link on the 'rat website.
