My alma mater, The Palmer Moose, won 35-8 today over the Kenai Kardinals. With the win, long time head coach, Rod Christiansen became the all time winningest coach in Alaska high school football with 151 wins. Rod played his freshman and sophomore seasons ('78-'79) for Linfield before transferring to Wisconsin-Platteville where he played his junior and senior seasons ('81-'82).

What?
He lost his mind after two seasons.

(and there can't possibly be a coach in Alaska named Moose.)

I realize that punctuation and grammar are not my forte but was it that hard to comprehend?

I believe he was pursueing an engineering degree. He went to Alaska-Fairbanks (which is losing ones mind in my opinion) for the fall of '80, but then decided he wasn't ready to give up playing and found an engineering school with football. In the end he went into teaching math, science, and football.

Yesterday the NWC teams gave up a total of 0 points (i.e., no one scored against any of the teams in the NWC). When was the last time that happened in the regular season?
On a related note, when was the last time only one NWC team played during a regular season weekend?

Been watching some more Whitworth this week.  Their offense does a great job in giving Kolste outlets underneath and in the flats on just about every passing play (which is the most of their offensive plays).  Kolste has total command of that offense in knowing where his guys.  It's going to be a very good challenge for the 'Cats defense.

The 'Cats offense isn't going to be seeing a UMHB defense but they are athletic upfront and LB's do a great job of filling gaps and rallying to the ball.

It's going to be a great football game.

I appreciate the respect the pollsters are giving Linfield. I'm just curious why we are #8? We beat a middle of the road SCIAC team and lost to UMHB and although our defense was great we showed no ability to score on a decent defense. I guess I'm a Debbie downer ... I have no idea how they rate teams.

Blue,  I'm a voter and I don't have Linfield that high right now (I have the 'Cats at 14).  I think Linfield's defense is very good but our offense, while has potential, has to show me that development before I move them up.

I did move Whit into the top ten and I think others will probably argue that I'm putting too much value into Whitworth.  My reasoning is that they have an elite QB, a deep receiver corp, and an emerging defense. Has Whit been tested so far?  No, but they've been doing what they should do to inferior teams...blowing them out without question.

Decent....is the wrong term, Blue. UMHB might have the best defense I've seen in my 20 years around Linfield. Their defensive line is extraordinary and I think every offense they face is going to struggle. Our Sam Riddle led team struggled mighty against that line last year as well so I would cut them some slack.

Typically, that is correct but we still love you, Blue.

I'm pleasantly surprised - not that polls mean mushrooms to a cow pie - that d3.com and you voters have graced LINFIELD with faith.

My opinion two days ago and I'm not a downer.

I was out at dinner last night and was standing outside where I saw a woman wearing a Linfield pullover jacket so I struck up a conversation with her.  She was surprised I had heard about Linfield and we chatted about the school and she told me her son had played football there.  I believe she said he graduated around 2002 and his name was Eric Krom.  Very nice family and I enjoyed talking to both of them about my visits to Linfield and they couldn't say enough great things about their experience being football parents there.  The father was an old college baseball player and we had a great conversation about that.  Always neat to see some other D3 people out in the wild and getting a chance to chat with them.
