Speaking of George Fox:

How is it that during home games, the GFU defense has average 47.6 assisted tackles per game while the visitor averages 28.8 assisted tackles per game.  But when GFU plays on the road their defensive assisted tackles drop down to 24 per game while the hosts average 26 per contest.

I mean...HOW is this possible that the Bruin assisted tackle numbers drop in half on the road?  ::)

And checking out the NWC stats page on total tackles is funny as hell if you sort by assisted tackles (http://www.nwcsports.com/sports/fball/2017-18/players?sort=dtt&view=&pos=d&r=0).  7 out of the top 14 defenders in the assisted tackles category all hail from Fox.

That's some pretty high-end analysis discovery. Almost like it would need to come from a former defensive star or something that would know a bit about this sort of thing.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

This is what I like on the George Fox recap from the Pio game. The game got off to a slower start than usual for the top-ranked Bruins. Top Ranked in what?

Top Ranked in Hyperbole?

Can't take credit...some other eagle eye spotted that and slipped it to me.  Just started laughing when I confirmed the numbers.

From the reports I've read the same guy who takes attendance also is responsible for assisted tackles. And it appears he is an afficianado of the band Foreigner.

I'm not sure why people keep saying our O Line is banged up? They are all there... I would think if they are that banged up I've seen many younger guys waiting to get in? Not sure what the problem is????

Blue, the offensive line hasn't had their starting five start all play at the same time since the Whitworth game.  We're not super deep there this year so the injuries have hurt.

I did defensive stats for 20 years at Wabash, and input the stats at CWU. You don't get an assist for making a hit while someone is going down or on the ground. Someone tell the GF SID that. The SID at Wabash and I learned from the same stat mentor.

You do tend to get more assists when a team runs the ball quite a bit. Wittenberg was at Wabash this past week and Witt got a lot of assists, but Wabash runs the ball. It's logical for a LB and the strong safety or a DL to assist on a bunch of tackles.

The GNAC all have pretty reasonable tackles / assisted tackle stats. Helps when the SIDs and their helpers know what they're doing and watch for anomalies in stats. I wish more conferences did that.

Fun fact: While I was doing my stat work at Wabash, I also did the PA and the participation. I think it was 1997 or so, and a conference team (we were in the HCAC) came to town with a LB that averaged 18 tackles a game or something nutty like that. Of course, he had twice as many assists as solos.

During the game, I'd call out the tackle, then do my announcing. Their SID was at the game two, and at half he noticed that his star LB wasn't announced that much. He asked how many tackles we had him for. I said, "7" or something like that - 4 solo 3 assists. He said - 'I saw he had twice as many as that'. Our SID said, "He doesn't get an assist for jumping on the pile.".

Wabash Always Fights!

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that the coaches know who is in the best position to be ready to play -- especially with a position such as offensive line. Those of us who aren't in practice every day really couldn't possibly know.

... agree! But we have some younger guys that would push some of those old geezers out of the way... I'm telling you!

Bluenote, I'm not sure how many practice you get to a week, but if Wildcat 11 and beancounter write that the O line is not at full strength, I have to believe it must be the reason we're riding the feet of the punter and the kicker.

Some of those younger guys are pretty buff!

Some of them might be inflicted with the ole "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" virus.

Always a great job 11. Wondering why after getting the offense to run like a machine on the 73 yard drive there's a QB switch at the 12 yd line. Really think we would have punched in the go ahead score if the future would have stayed in.
