Hey! There's another wind mill I can tilt with!

How about this: a sliding scale!

Mary Hardin Baylor $12.00

Whitworth $10.00

George Fox $10.00

Puget Sound $8.00

That was another stellar performance by the defense. Was awesome to see freshman Smith get some reps today.... Second half was fun to watch.

Lutes looked really solid today at GF. What an interesting year! Not sure how we dropped three to Cal Lu, Whitworth, and Pacific. One or two maybe...

Oh well, it was fun to see them put it together today. Building some momentum into the off-season and sending the seniors out on the right note.

Linfield clinched today right? Congrats!

The nolute seniors can say," Yep, we took one nationally ranked team into overtime and we beat another at their place."

You betcha!
The D went about their business as expected.  They did a fine job!
The offense was clearly different today.  Not gangbusters mind you...this is not fantasy-land!
Freshman Smith went about his business as well.  The learning curve begins to flatten a bit.
I was a little surprised that the o-line seemed a bit off against what looked like an inferior UPS
Front....maybe I'm wrong but that's how it looked.
So far so good!

That is a really great point!  Should give the seniors and the program some juice!

PLU is going to finish year 4-4....doubt there is better 4-4 squad out there. If season was starting over Lutes would be a buy.

Great to see The Lutes beat GFU at their home field... loved it!

So let's throw this out there:

Prior to Wyatt Smith on Saturday, who is the last true freshman - or for that matter, redshirt freshman - to start a game at quarterback for Linfield? I spent the drive home trying to think of one and couldn't.

Brian Higgins (who wore #12) in 1995 vs Puget Sound after Danny Langsdorf suffered what was pretty much a season ending injury vs Willamette the week prior.  Brian was a Redshirt that year.  That was the last time a Frosh QB started a game for Linfield.

I should have figured you'd have that.  ;) Any idea about a true frosh?

My deep Linfield knowledge only goes as far back as 1994.  That would be a good one to research though.  Wyatt has a huge upside and we have some outstanding young targets as well.  While this year hasn't been pretty on offense the future is pretty darn bright.

"Redlands' staff would cream their shorts to get a QB as talented as Smith.  Kid will be an A-A by the time his career is finished." WC11

"That's a strong, somewhat triggered response but ok. Question for you: Linfield has a lot of talented quarterbacks in their program. Is there a QB on their roster who has more time in the program and offensive system who has worked hard and done everything right who just got passed over for the head coaches kid?" RFB

Bringing this response to you WC11 from the game updates forum. I really am curious if "daddy ball" has just happened at Linfield?

RFB, I have seen every LC game this year.    Fowler, our 1st string is out, likely for the year, with illness.    The 2nd stringer was a good QB, but not as a passer in LC's wide out formation.   No fault of the Coach.

Smith was 3rd string, is young and inexperienced, but clearly has earned the job as of now.   He looked quite capable yesterday.
Check the year's stats:

RFB, of course, I was concerned, too, but no more.    Smith has earned it this year.   If Hazlett was well this year, in my opinion, this question would not have been raised.   But, he will be back next year.     Will be interesting in 2018.
