A current Wildcat player sent me a note: "Some of our fans cry like babies on the d3boards. If you wanna be the best u gotta beat the best."

Lol. He will be crying soon enough.

I bet that Maynard is thrilled to get some alone time this weekend to work in his garden.

Maynard > Smith
yeah o.k.   ???

Career Records:

Maynard:  189-87-1 (.685);  Playoff Record 0-8, Record Against Linfield: 0-7, Record against Joe Smith:  0-2
Smith:  103-20 (.840);  Playoff Record 16-8, Record against Redlands/Maynard 2-0

Congrats to Coach Smith for only dinging, and not wrecking the Ferrari he was handed. Coach Maynard actually took over a bad program and built it into a success. Give Coach Maynard Linfield talent and he has a national championship in hand already.
Oh please.  Maynard isn't even able to win the SCIAC consistently.....
Go Cats!

Speaks to the parity in the SCIAC. Redlands, Chapman, Cal Lu, Oxy, La Verne, and Whittier have all won titles in the last 20 years.

When every program is equally bad or inconsistent, parity isn't necessarily something to brag about

But good enough to beat Whitworth, right?

Andy Jamison - Walla Walla Wildcat

Looking forward to the Hardin Simmons game on Saturday.  From what I can tell they have a stud running back and are sharing the QB role between a passer and runner.  Their D is stout.  It is looking like a great first round game at Maxwell Field.

For the Cats I'm liking how the offense has looked these past 2 games with Wyatt at QB. He throws a nice deep ball and has good touch on the intermediate throws.  The o-line has looked much better since half-time of the UPS game which is good to see.

My biggest concern is the lack of discipline that keeps coming up.  During the Pacific game we had way, way too many penalties for simply idiotic behavior by our players.  This has been a bit of a trend this year and is something that the coaching staff has to address in the off season. Late hits by numerous players on the D, stupid plays twice by a DB that should have gotten him ejected for the game (but the White Hat didn't throw a flag on the second for whatever reason... clearly a late cheap shot on a Pacific player at the end of a kickoff return by Pacific).  Wide receivers catching a touchdown and then handing the ball to the DB that they just beat....  O linemen with cheap shots after the whistle... D lineman doing the same thing.

I was very pleased that Pacific scored the touchdown as our team didn't deserve the shutout with the lack of discipline.  We don't play football that way at Linfield - our motto is Team, Excellence, Attitude, Class... the "Class" was really missing on Saturday.  On one level we can't afford to give up multiple 15 yard penalties in the playoffs.  On another level our program has as a foundation playing the right way, doing the right thing, being the better team in every sense of the word.  That has slipped this year in my observation and is a slippery slope.  Hopefully it is just a few guys who will graduate and move on and not the start of new behavior by our program.  That is simply not acceptable!

To be honest HSU is a force on the O side of the game, but between the two D lines I have to give it to Linfield. Ya'll just have the complete package a bit more shored up and that is why I am leaning to a second round Vs. the Cats. They are going to be a good side make no mistake but side by side while very similar I think the overall cohesiveness goes to Linfield. Just my opinion but I've been following both, HSU a bit closer than Linfield but so far my picks have been pretty spot on.
But settle in and be ready for anything, the Cowboys have a knack to pull a rabbit out of the hat at the most inopportune time.

Chad Johnson is not walking through that door. When is the nepotism experiment going to end in Tacoma?

Still another reason why we should not schedule 2,000 miles away D-3 teams.     We should have one game against old rivals Southern Oregon, Western Oregon or Eastern Oregon.   Most fans can at least drive to those teams.    A loss to any of those should not hurt us in ranking like a loss to MH-B.    One game each year vs. SCIAC is fine.

Linfield would absolutely get hurt losing to any of these NAIAs.  I get not wanting to go 2000 miles for a regular season game though...that gets expensive and I guess the $12 web stream isn't covering those costs.

Southern I get...Ashland is nice.  Western is close and convenient.  Eastern though?  I spent the first 18 years of my life in Oregon and I never had a reason to creep any further into that corner of the state than the Ochocos.  La Grande is a loooong way from anything.

That's a better attempt, RFB. The Lutes have had their ups and downs, but Scott does have a winning record and the best hair/mustache combo in the conference.
Lighten up and enjoy life my friend. A little MiraLAX might help you out.  ;D
