The Frontier Conference has a much smaller nation to get ranked in. More than two and a half times as many schools in D-III than in the NAIA.

That is true, but than we should have won handily.   Carroll was 0-2 going into the game.    NAIA does offer financial aid.

Hope you're not in mourning after Saturday! I suspect Linfield will bounce back. The program is too good for them not to. Keep the faith. Go 'Cats! ☠🏈

We will rebound!    I would love to see Linfield play mighty Mount Union.   Been waiting a long time for that game.

Watched the game, man that was not the LF I know. The loss was more LF that Carrol. LF got beat up front, I am shocked.
I wish you all would have won by 40 prior to playing UR. Your boys will be very focused, is my guess.

Doesn't matter how Linfield played on Saturday. The fact remains they are a top 10 program year in and out for a reason, and Redlands has never beat them.

Playing on the road is difficult, and add in the home field advantage that is the CatDome creates a tough endeavor for Redlands to come out on top.

The game still needs to be played though, and Redlands will need to be perfect in all phases of the game. I'm really excited for this one.

What's the forecast for McMinville this weekend?

I'm not sure that Smith can play worse for the Cats at QB. And in all levels of college football its still more about the Jimmy's and Joe's...so advantage Linfield.

Scores don't tell the whole story but the early season results against Fox and UPS aren't terribly inspiring for the Bulldogs. They are plenty talented enough to win, especially if Linfield drops another turd of a performance on the field this week. But you can't go scoreless in the first half this weekend and expect to win again. The Bulldogs also have to play better than they have in weeks past. Traditionally Redlands has had some of the best line play in the SCIAC which is a necessity if you're gonna beat Linfield.

Whitworth v Chapman should be a good game. Whitworth did to La Verne and Chapman did to Pacific, what I would expect Redlands to have done to UPS. Pacific is young and will move down towards the back of the pack this year (though Willamette and L&C will do their best to prop them up). La Verne didn't look good. I'm not sure you can tell much from either week 1 game for the Pirates and the Panthers. I don't think there is a possible outcome here that would surprise me. In theory it should be evenly matched, and a good game.

Its supposed to be wet, Saturday. Since UR Qb is not a great thrower, its not a huge deal. He runs very well, hopefully we can get a first down in the first half. I remember the last time I was up their UR did not get one first down in the first half. Defense played their butts off, but this defense seems to have holes in pass coverage and no freaking contain. I bet Mariani fixes that one this week. On offense UR needs to run versions of RPO to death, control the ball a little and not wear out their D. I still have LF as a 14 point favorite.

I see we led in 1st downs 20-14. And total yardage was 382-239 'Cats until Carroll's last scoring bomb of 65 yards on broken coverage gave them 304 yards for the game.

I'll take it as a compliment when the Carroll broadcasters said early in the game, "Linfield's defense is as fast as the likes of Southern Oregon's."

None of this makes me feel better, though. And none of it matters when you make some of the crucial mistakes the 'Cats did. Yet even w/ all of those huge errors, the game was still ours to win very late in the 4th.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

WC11, If you aren't able to comment on this, I understand.

I was wondering why this isn't a home-and-home w/ Carroll? My first thought is because an athletic scholarship school w/ a strong rep in NAIA does not want to take a very long trip and risk losing to a more than capable non-athletic scholarship school, and would only agree to us coming out there (obviously still a risk, but much less when you get the game at home).

But that may not at all be the reason and therefore not fair to say about Carroll, which I why I'm asking.

I don't have the background and not sure why it was a one and done. The Carroll coach was the one crying to play NWC schools and Linfield stepped up so I'm not sure why he's not willing to return the favor.  I'm sure there's more to it but I really don't know.

Weather report I'm sure will change 15 times between now and Saturday.  I think it's going to be a very good game.  Looking forward to it.

One of my Vines says one of the two busses caught fire on the way back from Helena, made it to Missoula, half the team got home around 11am.
Insult to injury?

3-4 dropped or stolen TD passes in the end zone? Missed 10 yard FG? Any idea why we even threw it near the Carroll defender #2? He either broke up or intercepted anything near him 8 out of 10 times.  :-[

.... any word on Lasswell?

Exactly, so why keep doing it?.... announcers gave him MVP honors for the game.
