As Whitworth found out many years ago, having only 9 games with a loss to a NAIA opponent...is basically THE recipe for staying home in November when you're playing in the NWC/SCIAC

Linfield is praying for 2 Pirate losses IMO

Pretty much, but if the 'Cats don't get their crap in order it won't even matter what Whitworth does.   Saturday was ugly and I hope it was a wake up call.

Best game this week that I watched in College Football was Pacific U And GF. PU has a top shelf special teams (coach) that has won their last 2 games for them. Going to be hard to score on PU with that D. Again like in the SCIAC Offense is weak, but I wouldn't count this team out on some upsets in the NWC.
PLU & PS another overtime, could be some parity in this conference.

No playoff this year just hoping to keep the streak alive. Both PU and GF will be tough as nails. At this point I don't count any NWC foes out.

Yeah, but the committee totally got it right and wasn't biased against the NWC at all that year!!!

I mean, they selected 3 of the 7 Empire Eight conference teams instead of 1 team (even the champ) from the NWC (yes, no auto bid for the NWC at the time, but the same "applied" to the E8). 2 of those 3 teams had 2 losses to D3 schools. One of the 2 loss teams had lost a game by 3 TDs. And the other 2 loss team had lost a game by 4 TDs to a D3 team..........a D3 team that finished 3-7 that season.

But it totally made &$!?% sense!!!!
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Yes, Linfield is not special this year like in the past.   But, we are still good enough to win 6 or 7 games.    3+ TDs could have had us at 3-0 now.    We have a very good defense and a great punter.     If we just have enough offense to score 3-4 TDs, that will be enough.

I just hope the coaches will critically look at every offensive player.  Start from scratch.    Something is wrong, because most of the starters were starters last year.   We did that much offense last year.

IMHO

The 5-6 best running backs in the world can juke, reverse field, or run away from the line of scrimmage to beat the defense on an angle.
Everyone else is not one of the best running backs in the world.
They should stick with assignment football.

I love the smite votes almost immediately after I drop a truth bomb regarding anything to do w/ the East.

Without a reason for disagreeing, of course.

Ahhhh, just like old times.  :)

I think I got one just for being on the same page as you!
And for old times.

Only one of those two was an at-large bid. The other was the automatic bid. The E8 did indeed have an automatic bid that year.

Okay, fine. Still doesn't explain why the other two got in over Whitworth, especially 2 loss Hartwick who lost by 4 TDs to a 3-7 Western New England squad. Almost half of the teams from the E8 were let in.

Yet not one from the NWC, not even the conference champ. Which was a joke, even by the committee's standards.

Ithaca wasn't, though, and had 2 D3 losses - one by 3 TDs. 3 out of 7 schools from this conference go and the NWC champs stay at home.
