Andy, completely agree on these long road trips early on.    I do not understand it either.

The loss to an NAIA college didn't keep us out.     Two losses was what kept us out.   And I think we could have beaten 1/2 of this year's playoff teams.

I still see no logical reason why we should not be playing Southern Oregon or Eastern Oregon.     Maybe Western Oregon.     Our local fans would go there big time.     If we win, great.     If we lose, it won't hurt --- if we win the NWC.    The net effect is the same as two losses to D3 schools.

MUC57, I agree that we will be back.    We have more depth and talent than 95% of all D3 teams.     And for 60+ years, superb coaching.     If we play 9 games like the Pacific game, we will be back---big time next year.

I also think Linfield could have beaten lots of the playoff teams. Much too good of a program to not be in the playoffs. And I have been a fan for years, thanks to Coco and Mrs. Coco. Proudly wear my Linfield sweatshirt, even around the Mount campus.
So as Coco might say - Malama pono. Pomaika'i. Aloha.

I'm fine w/ the scheduling. We play who we play, esp if we can get D3 opponents. Rowan finished 4-6 this year. The 'Cats should be fine, esp given the conference's history against East Coast teams. I would wager this will be the first time many of the players have went this far east - chalk it up to a cool life experience.

BTW, the last time Linfield was coming off a yr we didn't make the playoffs was 2009. That yr, we made it to the semis. We lost to UW-W in Wizzy, and led by a TD in the 4th. We lost by the same margin they beat The Mount on a neutral field in the Stagg.

I'm looking forward to next season, esp the way we finished this yr.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Merry Christmas, Foss!
Uh.... Wasn't 2008 the last playoff miss?
Then to the good run in 2009?
Level Coppage & all?

i think that's what he said.  It was just worded a little oddly.  Should have made perfect sense to you Doc!   ;D

The way we looked against Pacific....I 100% agree.  We looked like a dangerous team. Just took a long time to get there.

Up until probably tonight (football banquet) there have been a bunch of underclassmen practicing at the CatDome under the lights for the last few weeks, working on individual skill sets.... hopefully we can pick up where we left off on our 1st game next year. Also the UST transfer QB has been practicing and learning the system. Rumor has it that our future O-line is a great group of younger guys that Hire really likes.

Agree that it is a great experience for the young men.

Rowan could be another trap, just like Carroll.    Traveling 3,000 miles for a football game is a big handicap, compared to the home team.

Ever hopeful though.

Is LF playing Carroll again ?

Starting 2019 by going out to NJ to play Rowan as the start of a 2-year home and home.  Then back to to Redlands the week after.

to answer your question precisely Olddog:  no.  That was a one year filler.

Gave olddog +K on the SCIAC board for the "30 year" post but here I'm looking to find how that Carroll comment was a jab.

The cats will be back, just an off year, I believe the program is too solid to see a 2019 the same way. While Whitworth was interesting, I never saw them as a deep threat and 2nd round was exactly as I thought they would get to. The cats, once they get to 2nd, they are still a threat and capable of a deep run, never saw that from Whitworth. Same with the SCIAC champs, I'm calling anomaly...
