Didn't plan to watch the game.  Didn't watch the game.  Glad I didn't watch the game.

L&C should be favored by a couple of touchdowns this weekend, but after the last couple of weeks, I'd be happy just to see a competitive game.

I'm biased, but I'd add 2007 in Salem to catjumper's list of Willamette/Linfield rivalry games.  The Bearcats were 1-3 coming into that one and hadn't beaten Linfield in a decade, while the Wildcats were ranked somewhere in the top 15.  Linfield scored the game's first 19 points, and WU starting quarterback Grant Leslie tore his ACL midway through the second half, but Willamette somehow rallied for a 33-32 win on a Matt Bicocca field goal with four seconds left.

Obviously, 2008 in McMinnville was fun too, but that 2007 game is the one I love to tell people about.

Ah, yes, no playoffs for LINFIELD 2006-2008.

Flying to McMinnville last week I sat next to a former 90s Notre Dame football player.  I suppose I shouldn't  have been surprised (but I was) when he told me there is full contact (pads) football for intermurals on the campus. Listening to him describe the set-up I suspect some of those dorms could beat some NWC teams this year.

This was the 90s. Perhaps the liability lawyers got involved since.

Dens used to roll around on top of a 4' canvas ball for inter murals ..... not sure how they scored but he was covered from head to toe with mud and looked like Leave it to Beaver after he got in trouble.

It was 4' and I have no idea what the purpose of the game was but if it made Dens happy... and he got a date afterwords I'm good with it!  :-X

It was the mud that did it.

An ODAC, D3 and Guilford Quakers fan from NC here.  I'm in Oregon this week visiting family.  We drove to McMinnville from Salem on Saturday to watch the WU Bearcats play the LC Wildcats.  We enjoyed our lunch at McMenamins downtown and then headed to the game.

Since I follow D3 pretty closely, I predicted to family a 77-7 Linfield win.  Since Willamette was stopped on 4th down inside the 5, my guess was pretty darn close.  My niece's fiancĂ© and I were predicting how many plays it would take LC to score from scrimmage:  as in 3 plays to cover 63 yards or 4 plays to cover 75.  WU was game and never gave up, but, honestly, LC was never challenged.  All I have to say is Redlands must have brought their A game in September!

Two interesting points:  a female Side Judge in the officiating crew and a successful onside kick by a female Bearcat to start the 2nd half.  LC will most likely win the NWC and be in the playoffs ... again!
