George . . . we'll just have to win 'em all and sort it out.

Agreed.  Tough non-conference for the 'Cats and then we'll see how we land during conference play.  Covid year will make it intresting.

Wyatt back behind center should be a stabilizing force.  Cats will have a crap ton of DL/LB talent this fall.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

The West Region, always tough just became even stronger.     Texas schools are now in the West Region:  Home page: "American Southwest Conference being placed with schools from the west coast."    Also, same page "Region 6"

Wow, I can see it now.    Playoff game: Linfield is sent to Mary-Harden-Baylor.    If we win, they then send us to UW-Whitewater.   All before the semi-finals.

This alignment isn't likely to change how the bracket is constructed. If nothing else, the travel restrictions will continue to apply and there isn't any way to do a six-bracket tournament.

But it will affect RRO details correct? If some regions have fewer conferences (and I'm assuming teams), doesn't this potentially crowd out good teams from the Region 6 rankings (with 6 conferences) in a way it doesn't in every other region (with only 4 conferences). **Cough**East Coast Bias**Cough**  ;)

Teams per Region:

Is that the conference that does not participate in the playoffs? I knew there was one but I didn't know which one. Is that the only one?

The Mole

No playoffs for NESCAC in football only, I believe it is only one that chooses to not participate (although they do in other sports)

They have ten teams and only play among themselves with a nine game schedule.

I guess in the end, as Pat said this shouldn't affect how things pan out come playoff time but I would love to hear reasoning behind adding the ASC to the already loaded West region. Adding to the ASC to the only region it actually touches, Region 3 and you get these numbers instead.

Region 1:51...really 41 since the NESCAC doesn't compete in the playoffs
Region 2:31
Region 3:44
Region 4:35
Region 5:38
Region 6:40

Well that makes way too much sense to ever happen. I mean, why would we want any semblance of regional balance for ranking regional opponents? Stop making sense!

Hazzben and Crufootball, spot on.   The NCAA makes some VERY strange decisions.

Oh well, we are just fans.
