I should read my own post about the NCAA playoffs and apply it to the NWC AC team...I keep thinking the coaches will get it right one year but I just shake my head every damn time.  ;D

D O.C.

QuoteAll-NWC is out and just about everyone that played a snap gets some sort of all-conference honor.
Looks like the conference coaches think DBs are a 'CAT Achilles heel.

+K WC11.  I make the same complaints about the all-MIAC teams, too.  How can you have 6 all-conference QBs?  ???

A tradition unrivaled...

In the NW conference does Whitworth bus to all the games on the west coast, and vice versa..In the SCIAC, we all are 75 miles or less apart.

Less than two more years of Gavin.

Bus within the NWC - overnight to/from Spokane. Fly to SCIAC. NWC teams were mixed in how they got to Menlo games (back in the day).

Yup, Linfield even took buses to Montana and assume they will again when they go to Carroll.

Glad it's not just us! The NWC has 5 QB's and it's stupid. It should only be 2 and maybe 1 more as an honorable mention.

Anyways, I think they got the top awards right. Johnson at Fox took a 5 win GFU team and made them an 8 win team on his playmaking ability alone, their Rookie DE plied up the stats (I think Linfield has a couple frosh defensive players with much higher ceilings), and Rybar was the right choice for D-POY. Swanson would have been deep in the convo if he didn't get hurt so early in conference play.

And Coach Smith continues to own the NWC.  He's pretty amazing for all he's done these past 16 years

With Whittier dropping their program, how about the NWC/SCIAC potentially merging?

Ice Karen thinks every QB should get a medal and/or a very nice ribbon. Ice suggests at the very least there should be 6 to 7 first team" players at every position for each conference. Ice says there should even be first and second teams for backups. Ice would like to see a backup actually get named all conference over a starter...Ah Ice can dream can't he? ;)

Non-conference scheduling agreement maybe. But I don't think there would be interest beyond that as long as we have 8 teams up here. I have some worries about 1 or 2 NWC programs (and a few of the other SCIAC ones).

Sure, that makes sense for the NWC right now, but a merger would ensure stability long term for D3football on the West coast. The NWC needs the Southern California schools for scheduling, and a non-conference scheduling agreement does nothing for the SCIAC long term to survive.

I was at the PP/CMS game Saturday and got a good look at the Hens after only seeing them prior on the PP stream. Their QB Skylar Nobel will remind Linfield guys of the late great Oxy QB Andy Collins. Nobel at 6'3" 230lbs is a big QB with a good arm and can run. He has thrown for 2,303 yds and run for 773 yds in 10 games four of those games over 100 yds( by far PP's leading rusher). His passing and running average 307.6 yds per game  accounted for 21 TDs. Don't know how SCIAC awards work but for me  he has to be offensive POY. How Nobel goes, so goes the Hens and the guy has to be accounted for every play. He runs the offense out of the gun and makes quick decisions...if the pass isn't there he is off and running. On the other side of the ball PP defensive line did a good job putting enough pressure on CMS QB Fogel to keep him at 160 yds for the game. CMS talented soph RB Edwards was held to 106 yds rushing...no small task.  Hens are well coached and aren't prone to making mistakes. They will come in with their game plan centered around Nobel play smart football.
