Andy Jamison - Walla Walla Wildcat

Two huge road wins to start the season... always difficult to play at Redlands and a trip to Denison was a program first.  The defense has done a good job and I expect it to get better week to week as the DL gets more confidence and the secondary tightens up.  The offense is struggling which is somewhat to be expected given what we are replacing on the O-line.

3 bye weeks coming up before a big game at home vs Fox... need to use those weeks to get the offense tuned up..

How in Hades can a program tighten up with 3 bye weeks I ask myself?

I am not convinced that the present O has what it takes this year.  Unless the O shows up like they usually do I expect some close games and maybe even a loss (hope not).  Hope I'm wrong, we'll see.

Any thoughts on how well the rest of the conference will stack up against us.  Looks like George Fox is not what they were hoping to be.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I think Whitworth looks the best and seems to be scoring well.  Given our offensive struggles so far I'd be nervous about a shootout with them.  GF has looked good on defense but their offense has not looked very good.  I think that could be a low scoring game like Redlands unless, of course, our offense gets rolling.  The rest of the conference seems pretty weak except perhaps PLU who has been on all of the games they've played so far.

I think he is counting Willamette 9/30 and Lewis & Clark 10/7 as pretty much bye weeks after the real one this week 9/23.

89 . . . I see. Well, we're taught to look out for trap games. So, one bye then.

Finally caught up with the rest of the NWC.

Whitworth is very dangerous this year with their grad transfer QB.  That dude is going to cause the NWC a lot of problems this season and his skill guys compliment him very well.  I suspect they will be a top 25 team as we go later in the year.

Fox's defense is excellent and will keep them in every game.  Their offense.......

The rest of the NWC is there but with the way our offense has performed to start the year we could really have tighter games during a number of NWC match ups.  If our offense can score 24-28 PPG, we should be in good shape.

Seems odd that Linfield, with their reputation and skill players didn't land a blue chip QB recently. They've had them in the past but last year they almost got upended in the first round because of the opponents qb play and in the second round were schooled by a superior qb. You have to have a stud qb to go anywhere in the post season.

Maybe Coach feels he will be better.    First two LF games were cause for concern.   Did not look like a playoff team.   But the season is young.

Cat,

I watched a lot of the Chapman and WW game and all of UR/CU game. Chapman gave it away to WW. This CU team is not as good as usual. I will call it now 28-7 Cats over Whitworth.

CMS is improving, so I think I might put them slightly ahead of UR right now. However if UR O line keeps getting better, it could even up real fast. UR linemen were moving their feet last week, good sign.
What is going to be tough for the Cats is getting better week to week, when it appears both leagues are down. I think even the Cats are a click not as good the past couple years. Mostly  at the QB spot, but the game is played up front and they still have the best group on both sides of the ball between the two leagues.
Less than two more years of Gavin.

Even Steven, the week before they won a game and dropped a spot to a team with a bye.

Pat Coleman

They did indeed slip past Redlands the week before -- winning a game doesn't mean you automatically move up or even hold the line.
