As a longtime reader but rare poster maybe I shouldn't be the one to bring it up, but have the regulars noticed a decline in nonsense since the "disappearance" of Bluenote?

Wondering how you were.
That was a great game you played us.
Bluenote IS gone, isn't he? Hmmm

I'm still lurking out here, and tend to read all the posts about once a week during season. It's hard to comment much when your team is marginally competitive. That being said, I will be travelling south in a week and looking to catch my second PLU game since graduating 39 years ago. Looking forward to PLU vs Lewis & Clark on the 21st.

The Third Division

The head coach of the best d3fb team in the west coast is sitting out a game due to an incident with an official last week. Any word on what happened?

Pat Coleman

Kind of a big statement there without backup.

Personally I think 16 years of maintaining a temper is pretty good.

Outstanding first half for the 'Cats.  *This close* to being 42-0 at the break but the game was all over after that.

Eaton has grown a ton as we moved along and keeps making great decision with the ball and spreading it around to all of the 'Cats weapons.  Our defensive line chewed up Fox and spit them out.  Fox had a little over 60 yards of total offense in the 4th QT before they were able to rack up some yards on the 'Cats young guys.

Haven't done it this year but this is how I see it right now in terms of NWC Power Rankings.

1. Linfield - Until proven otherwise
2. Whitworth - Outstanding team on a collision course with the 'Cats
3. L&C - Program is on the come up
4. PLU - Have some tough dudes
5. UPS - Their QB is really good, could give the 'Cats some fits next week
6. Pacific - Thought they would be much better this year
7. Fox - Stud WR from last year covered up a lot of their program issues as an offense
8. Willamette - They're really bad.

8. Willamette - They're really bad.

And this is the reason why I don't post that much anymore.  I still lurk around and comment when there's something to comment about, but it just isn't fun to banter when your team isn't even close to being competitive.  I mean, Saturday's game against PLU was probably the most embarrassed I've ever been as a Willamette fan.  Not just because of the blowout loss--I've seen plenty of those--but because of the way they lost: eight turnovers, eleven penalties, three guys getting ejected ... the wheels have fully come off of the wagon, and quite frankly, this season (and era) can't end soon enough.

On a more hopeful note, Willamette officially posted the "Head Football Coach" position on its job website today.  I have no insider info at all, but two "in the family" guys I hope at least get an interview are Speckman-era alums Lukkes Gilgan (Pacific DC) and Danny Mitchell (UAB offensive analyst).  Truly though, at this point, I really just want to see the University commit to building and supporting a consistently competitive program that can challenge for a conference title every once in a while.  It's been done before, it can be done again, and it is much, much more fun than whatever the last decade has been.

(I would also beg the new coach, whoever he might be, to please get rid of the ridiculous white helmets and go back to the red or gold that we've always worn.)
