The Linfield offense has a lot of threats that can go the distance, but I just feel like Haze has that special burst of explosion that the team may need a little more of this season.  Keck, is a very elusive runner and Casey is a big physical guy who will go up and get the ball but there isn't really that proven big play threat out of the backfield or a true speedster like Carter was last season so I just think Haze is better off being that big play guy for the offense.(not saying the other receivers aren't)  However, he for sure should be getting plenty of reps with the defense because he is a great cover guy as well as a tackler.   Either way the kid is a stud and will do well wherever he plays.

OAS.....
What,  no Casey Allen on your team. Glad to see you did manage to pick JT as one of your wr.

I knew he wouldn't be around in the second round so I rolled the dice and took Elliott instead with the first pick.  I think I'll be ok.  Had I landed him, I would have been ecstatic.

catback4, what about special teams for Hazenburg? If the Cats use Haze more on either or both sides of the ball, will he still return kicks and punts or use that time for a bit of rest? Masters did a pretty good job of returning kicks late in the season.

The Wildcats practiced with the lights on last night.....a very spirited practice....some good 11 on 11 stuff in full pads.

Regarding Haze.....the defense was in purple shirts, the QB's in black, the offense in white.....and Hazenberg was in red.   You guys connect the dots on that issue...........

On the injury front.........ahhhh, my lips are sealed.

pdawg

Hey,
Guess what? haz was in blue today at practice. He was not on offense. He was not on defense. He was not on return teams. He was helping to coach, working with the receivers and QBs. No kidding!

Overall, things are looking really well across the board. Impressive skills and talent displayed by both offensive and defensive returnees and the new players.

I think Hazenburg should play D.  That dude from Whitworth can pick up the slack.

If you want crazy stats, and Elliot to be a finalist for the Unitas award, then play him on O.  Basically, play him on O when you really need him.  Like against PLU, WOU, WISC., etc.

Defense was instramental in the title game last year, but a great offense is the best defense, I just don't know anymore, I'm so confused.

Elliott happened to be the only non-DI QB mentioned on the Unitas watch list. Great accomplishment. I wonder...has any other DIII QB ever been nominated to that list of the nation's projected top QBs???

Pdawg,

If you also saw the team practice fake punts and field goals, could you go ahead and describe them here? What will be the fall-back play on 3rd and short? Is there anything that we should focus on to know if a running play is coming? Have the coaches told you which downs/distances they plan to blitz on, or how they will hide coverages until the snap?

As always, any info is appreciated!

Interesting idea d-train.....

Why doens't somebody just scan the Linfield playbook into a pdf file and post it on the internet?

Or how 'bout this promotional idea....in order to boost the gate at home games, maybe Linfield can have a giveaway of the QB's wrist bands that have all the audible information.....that way fans can complain about the play being called before the snap!!   Granted, the hindsight isn't quite 20-20 with that....and fans prefer to complain about things after the play is over so they can hedge their opinions on what they thought would have worked in retrospect.   But fans need information....more, more and more!!

LBC-

I'm onto a potentially large leaker here. Don't mess that up for me. I need to see how much of the important stuff he'll really spill.  ;D

Tuxguy

Didn't mouse Davis former coach at PSU have a fan call a play at each home game? Think coach Locey would go for that! Use it as a fund raiser. LOL
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

D-Train I dont think my computer has the ability to hold all of the PLU Trick Play book.  Most people wouldn't understand it anyway.  This should be my post 999.  #1000 WILL be a good one

GHC--

Maybe we can get some of the PLU guys out of the woodwork to join D-Train with an informal poll......what is your favorite PLU trick play?

My favorite trick PLU formation.....well, it is "the diamond"

Most memorable trick play in a game.....fumblerooski in the 1992 playoff game against Linfield (I believe PLU is probably the last team to score on it in college football because it was outlawed at the college level for the 1993 season.  We still have it at the high school level....but the referee has to be notified before it is run.)

catback4

Haze will for sure still return at least punts.  I think that it would be beneficial for him to only return maybe the opening kickoff or the halftime kickoff.  Masters isn't going to be in uniform this season because of a serious condition regarding his leg.  Pete Cruickshank and Johnny Anderson should be the leading canidates to return kickoffs for the cats.  I'm getting real excited for this season to start, can't we just line it up against WOU already!!!
