Below is a link to the story on espn.com about Delaware Valley QB Adam Knoblauch who hit the 10,000 yard passing/1,000 yard rushing milestone.  He is one of only six players ever to reach this.  There was a DII kid who did the same this weekend.

This is good recognition for a DIII kid on the national level....the kind we have been pushing for on these boards for Elliott.  We should now show our support for Knoblauch.

After the Bearcats' come from behind win over Whitworth this Saturday, it should once again be clear that Willamette should go to the playoffs as the second NWC school. We've played the toughest schedule of any school in the NWC (and one of the toughest in the country), and took care of business Saturday by beating a very good Whitworth team. Just like last year, we arre undefeated in the West and our only DIII loss heading into the Linfield game is against Mary Hardin Baylor, the #4 team in the country. We shouold not get penalized for losing to Azusa or to Western Oregon ( a DII school). The Bearcats proved Saturday they should be in the field of 32!

Foss

bearcat SID, do you know if you guys will be playing a similar schedule next season (lots of D2 and NAIA games) or are you having better luck getting D3 teams to play you?
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Some more statistical comparisons to chew on. Willamette has score 23 TDs this year 18 rushing, 4 passing, and 1 special team.

Linfields defense has given up 13 TDs so far this season. 10 have been pass plays, 2 running, and 1 special team. One run was a 5 yarder after a blocked punt, the other a 1 yard dive after several pass plays to get the ball to the one.

Unless the Bearcats can come up with a solid passing game, the fly will get swatted down big.

The forecast for Salem is rain and a poster noted long grass on Willimmette's field.  Any chance a wet field could even things out a little?

It could be another cow pasture like UWSp and the cats will still kill the fly on Sat.  ;)

If the Bearcats can prove it again by winning this Saturday, then so be it. Otherwise, the NWC will only have one team in this year. Sorry, but have you objectively looked at the resumes of teams competing for that 4th Pool B (or 7th Pool C) bid?

KennethK - I have a feeling the playing surface in Salem will be pretty much what Linfield is used to.

KennethK

wasn't concerned with the 4th or 7th bid.  Just trying to figure a way for Johnnies to host the West championship.  A stunner in the rain in Salem might do the trick.  This one looked like a gimme a few weeks back, mayby now it is more like a four footer.

my comments about "the 4th or 7th bid" weren't directed towards you, KK.  Perhaps you'll notice that I quoted 'bearcat SID' in my post? (...or the 'Willimmette' SID if you will.)

Tuxguy

d-train...classic! With all this rain I just hope the 'Willimmette' river doesn't overflow its banks onto the field! ;)

Go Cats ....Leave no Doubt!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

It is my understanding that Willamette has field turf like ours so I think a long grass theory is just message board banter and not in fact true.  Let's say that they have a found a way to "grow" their field turf.  Let's just look at the Stevens Point game from last year to see how well that worked.

CamCat-

Exactly...FieldTurf in both Salem and McMinnville. Again, "the playing surface in Salem will be pretty much what Linfield is used to." A total downpour might keep the Wildcats from scoring more than 40, but it wouldn't change the outcome.
