In 2002 and 2003, I expected SJU to win against Linfield.  This year, if SJU is fortunate enough to get past UW Whitewater, an SJU win over Linfield would be an upset, in my opinion.  I really don't see Concordia beating them either.

I'm really beginning to like OxyBob ;)

My final prediction...write this down.
CC-28  Linfield-24
Probably the same way they did against another fairly decent running team the Willamette Bearcats. Time of possesion for B'cats 35:24, for Wildcats 24:36 minutes. Final score 63-21!
Hung 62 on UPS, lost TOP by 6.5 minutes
Hung 47 on Whitworth, lost TOP by 10 minutes

Do not expect this thread to last long.

A major reason LINFIELD was able to get it done (finally) last year was because the johns played them better twice by a touchdown the previous years.

Chewey, how many separate topics do you intend to create? You can discuss Linfield right here on the NWC board, which is why I merged your previous attempt to create a separate board into this conversation.

Whats the line for this weekend?  I like the Cats by 3 on Saturday....3 touchdowns!

Linfield 42  Concordia 21...

Linfield fans - TheCobberNation doesn't speak for everyone here.  I've said before that we have to either try to control the Linfield offense or try to keep up with them.  We have our hands full - NO QUESTION.  I would be very suprised if you put up 63 though.  I could see mid 40's, but then again in the grand scheme of things I really don't know how good you actually are this year.  The only time I've seen Linfield play was in the Stagg Bowl last year. And before someone jumps on me, that was LAST YEAR - you could be better now, you could be worse.  Personally i have no idea.

But the only reference point that I have is St. Johns - who experts would say have a pretty potent offense, and we somewhat contained them, allowing only 20 points.  But maybe the familiarity factor played in the game since we see them once a year and know what they do.

Either way, my hometown optimism sees a good game on saturday.  I hope its a hard fought clean game and that the best TEAM wins.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

CordGlory-Aside from Nation, you guys seem like a great group of fans.  The Cat faithful will welcome you bright and early to the tailgate this weekend.

I think it's going to be hard to put up 63 again because of a tougher defense and a limited # of possessions.  What you're overlooking is your ability to run the ball.  We've seen the best of the best as far as run offenses (see UMHB in the Stagg), and neutralized them.

I talked to a recent graduate of Bethel who played Concordia last year.  He compared them to Wartburg.  Real physical but not very fast.  Dens is right, the hyphenaters had speed.  The Cobbers are going to get Catnipped or Monkey Stomped, whichever they prefer best I suppose.

Hey, Chewey!

Welcome back.  You haven't been around much this year. You must have been busy, before the new bankruptcy law went into effect. Your brethren around here  certainly were.

For the first time ever, I agree with you. Of course, you've never picked the 'Cats to win one before.

OH Pat,

Thanks for the explanation about one highlight per region.  That at least makes sense.....of course, the West Region is sure stacked with talent and highlights but I appreciate the structure now.  Sorry for the periceved whining.....

Anybody know how often (if ever) 2 recievers on the same team have caught over 200 yards.....that is pretty darn impressive :)
