I talked to a recent graduate of Bethel who played Concordia last year.  He compared them to Wartburg.  Real physical but not very fast.  Dens is right, the hyphenaters had speed.  The Cobbers are going to get Catnipped or Monkey Stomped, whichever they prefer best I suppose.

We have speed back there.  Cory Johnson might be the fastest kid on the field on saturday - and I'm not trying to take anything away from Linfield.  Pre-Season 40 was close to 4.4.  I can't remember specifically.  But when he gets a corner, he's gone.  He has several runs over 40 yards this year.

My point is, we can pound up the middle and beat you on the outside - which is part of the reason we've been so effective.

I still think it will be a challenge for the Linfield D -  The problem will be making sure we don't get down early so we can keep on running.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Cord Glory,

That is good to know.  I of course have never seen Concordia play and am hearing this all second hand.  The person I talked to had good things to say about Concordia and thinks they will put up a good fight this weekend.  I think that he is as tainted with MIAC bias as I am with NWC bias though.  I wish I could make it up to McMinnville to see the Cobbers in person.  It should be a fun weekend.

Rockcat -

Thats why I'm here man. And for future reference, don't ever trust anyone from Bethel.

Hate to break it to you but at a 4.4 he won't be the fastest on the field.  The Cats are electric

Not that 1 example speaks for the majority, but in the 2004 Stagg, UMHB's Justin Bryson came into the game with more than 1800 yards and we held him to 26 yards on 17 carries.  There's many more examples of what our rush defense can do........after all, we're #8 in DIII.  You're gonna have to at least keep us honest with the pass.

GHC,

Mrs. Coco says Ditto on the longies. She'd never had one before, and she liked it.

Well good then - I'll look forward to Johnson getting run down from behind all game.  Does everything I say have to be refuted?  ;)

If you guys claim you're that good, then I'll believe you.  It should be a good matchup of a good run defense vs a good run offense. We'll both see how good we are in those categories on saturday.  And like i said before - then at least Cord will know how they maych up against the best.  It will be interesting to see.

OK everyone,
Since the longies were gone pre-game last week, I'm going to make more than usual and this week in honor of the Cats speed they will be ELECTRIC Long Island Ice Teas.  This is the high octaine version that you all like.

Lets get ready to rock the Cobbers

"Concordia a very good team. They should be undefeated. They had Saint John's on the ropes but lost in the final 30 seconds. They've made the playoffs two years in a row and I think they are for real. They do a good job of controlling the ball. They've got a strong tradition on their side. Brian Schumacher is a big-time quarterback. He's tall, athletic and physical. Their offense is a double-wing spread option, along the lines of what Eastern Oregon or Air Force runs. They spread the field out and create assignment matchups. Defensively, they are going to be very challenging to prepare for." -COACH JAY LOCEY

If you didn't know, that's your coach talking. I think he knows a lot more about the Cobbers than you posters! Here's the deal. I'm preaching to the choir here but Concordia deserves a little more respect than...RIP COBBERS. It could be the classy MIAC just needs to get used to scum from NWC. Who knows?

If you reply saying that the coach is being diplomatic, you've never played football before. I've been saying it all along, you've been laughing at me. There it is! Coach Locey agrees. The Cobbers are going to be a challenge. Not a blow out.

And it's Terry Horan, not Larry!

GHC,

I'm going to bring food from my native land on Saturday.

No, no, not fish eyes. Not blood soup or raw liver. It will be something cooked that even white people like.

Whats the line for this weekend?  I like the Cats by 3 on Saturday....3 touchdowns!

Linfield 42  Concordia 21...

As some of the vets in the rooms like to say, "Phone it in!"

I want to check my crystal ball first, but my initial thought is of 49 to 7.

I was only off by 4 points last week.  I said 63-17 instead of the 63-21 it turned out to be. Where do I send my prognostications?
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

I'm sure we'll be seeing a much better defense this Saturday, but all I know is Concordia was only giving up around 10 points/game last season until they ran into a good offense and Occidental put 42 on them. Speaking of Oxy, if Collins comes back (he's listed as a junior), I think the west coast will (again) have 2 of the top QBs in D3 next year, with Oxy Collins and Whitworth's Clark.

If 21 point wins are Catnips, then the last two games Linfield has dropped a "Catastrophy" on its opponents.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I think they chose Cobbers after growing tired of being called the "Lutefiskers".  ;D
The Lutefiskers ??? would that be Lutes for short ;D
