Alright you fools from el nino country. All this talk about SJU has made me wonder one thing; do you know ANYTHING about the CC-SJU game from this year? We were unstoppable against SJU. Their means of scoring...Hail Mary! Not to mention a last second bomb for 80-some yards to win the game. Not to dwell in the past...

Your underpreparedness isn't a bad thing by any means but had we not had given up one last second bomb to the Jonnies, do you think we'd be #9 right now? Piss on the #6 california team that couldn't bring it.

Wake up.

I never knew that rackin up 218 yards of total offense was dominating the oppenent.  I was not able to attend the game, but what i have been told, the "hail mary" that you speak of was a result of Koafed having days to find the open reciever.
I heard Koafed made himself a cobb sandwich while waiting for his receiver to get open.

After all compared to who got the ink.   Let's see 525 to 4 hundred & something..  31 for 41 beats 28 for 39 anyday.  And what about the TWO over 200 yards WR..  ::)

Uh huh ... but it doesn't beat an NCAA-record 6½ sacks, my man.

Oh wait, oh no, he's going to smite me? Darn.

Not again so soon  Pat ?  ;)
I will have to wait at least  12 hours  ;D.
I don't  ;D

TheCobberNation

I suggest you look at the replay on the Johnnies webpage before you talk about that play. You'll clearly see a very good quarterback shedding a tackle, then throwing only a 30-40 yard pass to which the rest of the way was on foot. According to what you all say about Johnnie speed, that's less than 4.4 seconds right? To run 40 yards that is.

One good point, we too had a long play resulting in a touchdown. I'll stop talking about Johnnies now an worry about 3rd round action.

Seriously now, look at the replay. Our defense is gonna bring it. Also, nobody responded to my reaction to the gameday preview. Your coach even said what you guys are avoiding by skipping to next week.

TheCobberNation, what are you getting at? That our coach expressed his respect and concern about your team? Go read his comments about every team we have played this season. He is nothing but class and always points out good things about each opponent before each game. That's the way he is. I would think you would be happy about this.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

From earlier the season....

Quoting Coach Locey:
--What are your thoughts on Menlo? "Menlo has some talented athletes on their team. But with so many transfers and new players, it's tough to get much team chemistry going in a short amount of time. That's the biggest challenge that's before them, I believe. In the past, we've had some very challenging games at Menlo, including a couple of real barnburners. We've got our work cut out for us."

Coach Locey never has anything bad to say about any team Linfield is going to play, even a winless Menlo team, he just keeps it close to the vest and his kids focused on the next team....but that's his job.  We're fans...we can talk about whatever becasue we have no impact on how Linfield plays on Saturday.

Get all the smack out of the way you can now because the Cobber season ends on Saturday.  Wether it's by 1 point or 30 points...the 'Cats are on a mission.

Weather Report for Saturday:  High of 45 degrees and partly cloudy.

TheCobberNation......you remind me of this little kid I went to school with in grade school. He'd go around punching people, bragging about how great he was, boasting that he could do this or that and calling people names and stuff. He did this because he craved attention, was so misguided (and slightly retarded according to Mrs. Johnson our 3rd grade teacher) and that was the only way he could get it. He could never figure out why nobody liked him or wanted anything to do with him....Let's all just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, the wonderful smell of Fall in the air and the little birdies in the trees.  :P

I'll drop it and we'll take you guys down.

TheCobberNation,

Don't bet too much on it.

And, don't get ruffled at some of the over-zealous Wildcat fans.   We love Linfield football and the last few years have been exceptional.    It sometimes goes to our head and we lose our sense of proportion.

Nevertheless, I do expect Linfield to win---in a good battle.
Hope you can attend the game.

GO CATS, GO!

Catville Commissioner Elect

OxyBob - I agree with most posters on the NWC board.  You seem to be a great poster and big backer of the Tigers so it is great to see t hat some of the SCIAC posters have great respect for the NWC just as most of the NWC posters have respect for some of the SCIAC teams, Oxy being the biggest one.

You are welcome in the great City of McMinnville anytime and I would be glad to show you around.  Just too bad that the NCAA saw it fit to stack the West since  Oxy was the big looser all around.  I guess with PLU winning D3, the Cats winning D3, Oxy laying the smack on Concordia last year, etc, we still get no respect out  here.  I would imagine that after the playoffs are all over the net number of flights difference and cost between what they did and what they should have done will be a wash.  If you are interested, I could always use a campaign consultant since I am sure with your great expertise that you could provide me some good ideas.

GHC - I can't wait for the Hi Octane.  Since I enjoy so many of those great Longies, I would be more than happy to contribute to the recipe.  Just let me know what you need.  It is great to see that Mrs. Coco is hooked too.  Speaking from personal experience, COCO, Mrs COCO, and COCO kids are real great people and we are lucky to have them in town.

WC64 - I managed to get you a rebate on your taxes, but they insisted it go to my campaign budget for 2008 so I could not disapoint and decided that it was a pretty good cause so I agreed.  We will see what happens in 08.

No need to be so hard on yourself.  I'm sure folks like you now.

Top Cat 1,

We've got to work on your "political image" just a bit before the next election cycle.....You have 11 posts and -11 karma...now I know you're a better politician than that!

I'm looking at warming up Wildcat 1 around December 2nd and see if we can land in Oregon (after all it is time to collect the rent).  So after getting the appropriate level of anti-freeze in the blood stream, I'm counting on you to make the right calls from the nose bleed section and get even for those two previous losses to the Cobbers!

Let the Catdome Rock on Saturday!!!

Yeah, it sure would have been interesting to see how the other west coast team (Oxy) would have done if they would have had a chance to play someone other than the buzzsaw known as the 'Cats. The fact remains that when they were able to play someone other than the #1 team last year, they were 2-0 in the playoffs, and Oxy Collins was only better this time around. I think he likely would have torched another team or two if given the opportunity. The bad news is D3 as a whole got shortchanged by some good teams getting knocked out in the 1st and 2nd round due to penny pinching. The good news for the 'Cats is they can go down as one of the best D3 teams of all time, due to their unbelievable talent, hopefully going back to back, and now because they may get to play the #6, #9, #2 or #3, #4 (likely Mary Hardin-Baylor), and #5 (if Mt. Union makes it to the Stagg) teams in the country if they keep winning.

I think based on Coach Locey's comments that he's actually rooting for Concordia to win this weekend.

Good one!
Bluenote's smilin'.  I can feel it.

The CobberNation, thank-you for coming on here. We (well, me) expect to come out on top but am always surprised at the final score.
Right George?

Me thinks Cobber Nation is very inexperienced when it comes to the fine art of "coach speak".  Jay Locey is pretty good at it, but to be honest, has nothing on former Linfield coach Ad Rutschman.

In a former life of mine, I worked at the college radio station at Linfield.  I went in to tape a pregame show with Coach....Linfield was 5-0, Pacific was 0-5; I tossed out the lob ball question, "Tell us about your opponent this week, the Pacific Boxers..."    And Coach said, "Well, we are fortunate to be where we are.  We have played good football so far (note:  Linfield was #1 in the nation at the time in total offense at 550 yards a game), but I have been looking at Pacific on film pretty closely.   They have some good athletes and some good football players.   They have hurt themselves with penalties and some turnovers or they would have a few more wins than they have now.  So we have to go out this Saturday and probably play our best game of the year in order to win...."

I laughed out loud with Cobbernation took Locey too seriously.    What did he expect Locey to say, that Concordia was so bad they could get beat by the Duniway Middle School 8th graders??
