I laughed out loud with Cobbernation took Locey too seriously.    What did he expect Locey to say, that Concordia was so bad they could get beat by the Duniway Middle School 8th graders??

Now, now, now...I work at Duniway Middle School, and even though we went 0 for the season this year. When asked about our team...Coach Locey had this to say, "Well, you know, it is tough sometimes. There are some real good athletes out there, and a bounce here or there, and your team might have gone undefeated." Always the class act. WE WERE AWFUL.

Anyway, I am new on this as a poster, but read it often. Teams don't run against us because we cover our assignments and we tackle very well. Our guys are very disciplined, and Coach Smith is a absolute magician with what he does to get this defense ready for games. In the end, it won't matter because Linfield will score on its first four possessions and the game will be out of hand. Also, as for 4.4 speed, I am not sure that would be in the top 5 on the field this weekend.

The Linfield vs. Concordia game will be interesting. The Cobber defense has proven to one of the better one's in D3. If the Cobbers can run the ball and control the clock, it will limit the number of opportunities that the Linfield offense will have to score.

This Cobber team also has some playoff experience. They won there first round game last year and probably should have won their second round game. With back to back playoff seasons, Coach Horan has Concordia back on the D3 football map.

Go Cobbers............

LiveWith9,

Welcome to the board.  You will find this can become addictive.  We could have worst addictions for sure.  It took your school getting shot at to step forward and defend yourself.

We'll look for more from you in the future.

Thanks CamCat,
I can take a lot of things, but when people start to come after the Dragons...well then I have to step up and say something.

This place is definitely addicting, but that is alright. Since we can't be out on the field, then we may as well win the battle of words.

"Duniway 8th grade Middle School??" Perhaps it would have been better that Locey say Newbie instead.

With all that Cobber nation is saying reminds me of T Ford on the highlight CD..."Don't let anything they're doing interfer with what we are doing". Cobs are just another road kill along the way.

Just like any corn products, expose it to a little heat and it is going to get popped. The Cat Defense and Coach Smith will put the heat on the cobs. DesertCat 1 has the salt. Enjoy the pop corn on Sat. Cats, just take care of business.

If you didn't know, that's your coach talking. I think he knows a lot more about the Cobbers than you posters! Here's the deal. I'm preaching to the choir here but Concordia deserves a little more respect than...RIP COBBERS. It could be the classy MIAC just needs to get used to scum from NWC. Who knows?

If you reply saying that the coach is being diplomatic, you've never played football before. I've been saying it all along, you've been laughing at me. There it is! Coach Locey agrees. The Cobbers are going to be a challenge. Not a blow out.

And it's Terry Horan, not Larry!
SCUM from the NWC??? >:(  Where's my dang karma button...

Okay, so you're hanging your hat on a quote that our coach respects you?

Look, I hate to break it to you, but the coach IS being diplomatic.  I'm sure he genuinely respects Concordia as a good team but if you were to go through his pre-game interviews, you will find similar quotes even for teams like Menlo, which finished 0-10. Rule of thumb for Locey is that, #1, you don't bad mouth your opponent, #2, you respect everyone, and, #3, you prepare for every team as though they can and will beat you.

We all know the Cobbers are a good team, but I just don't see them being able to compete this weekend.

A real sign of respect is to take note of what quarter we send in the second stringers.  ;)

Isn't this like saying, "If I run slow enough, I'll dodge a bullet"?

I have to seriously disagree with this line of thinking.  In my humble opinion, controlling the clock doesn't help against teams with high-powered offenses. We've seen Linfield score how many times this year on possessions using less than a minute of game time? (For you stat lovers with time on your hands, there's a challenge for you.)

Linfield takes the ball, one minute, score. Now if you control the ball for five minutes of game time but then come away with no points, you haven't done anything other than limit your own potential numbers of possessions.  Does it really matter if you get beat by "only" 28 instead of 56?  If you're playing for pride, I suppose it does. But if you're playing to win, then not really.

Seems to me, if you know your opponent can hit 63 points without breaking a sweat, you better have a plan to hit 70.

So many of the MIAC posters talk about hanging on to the ball and not letting the Cats have much time of possesion. Cats don't need TOP!! Here you go 'Cats Fa Natic and for SJUQB, from a couple of pages back. ;D

My final prediction...write this down.
CC-28  Linfield-24
Probably the same way they did against another fairly decent running team the Willamette Bearcats. Time of possesion for B'cats 35:24, for Wildcats 24:36. Final score 63-21!
Hung 62 on UPS, lost TOP by 6.5 minutes
Hung 47 on Whitworth, lost TOP by 10 minutes

Bud, they are a GOOD team. They have been competing very well.

Of course it's my opinion but I will take a 7-6 game and LIKE it. Any win.
Very surprised this was on the LINFIELD website because while informational and harmless it is material for the opponent locker room boards:
QuoteNext Week NCAA Division III quarterfinals, Dec. 3, noon, McMinnville, Ore., opponent to be determined

They had that last week too, and I kind of thought that was funnny.  But the reality is, they have last week/this week/next week up every week.  It's basically filler/placeholder material.

My bad.   ;D

My fanaticism was showing there.  I meant to type "win" this weekend not "compete."  As in, "I just don't see them being able to win this weekend."

Swede,
After a couple of these, the last thing on your mind will be karma my man

bluenote

Locey has a tendancy to turn things on around on other teams strengths. I wouldn't be surprised to see Linfield decide to take some bigtime chunks off the clock with a few long clock eating drives of our own after we've bolted a few TD's ahead....

Livewith9,

It's about time you got back on here.  You've been MIA since AB left a few years ago.  Since you don't answer your phone or always get off it when the next girl comes over I'll leave messages for you in here.  ;D
