Linfield players, from left, B. Hazenberg, John Kemper,
and Brad McKecknie look over their shopping list

Excerpts

---For the third consecutive year, the Linfield team is helping out with some Thanksgiving shopping for those less fortunate.

"This year we're fortunate in that we're able to help two families out," said Linfield cornerbacks coach George Lemon. "The first two years we helped one, so we're stepping it up."

---"We started doing it my freshman year and it's kind of an annual thing now," said offensive lineman John Kemper. "It's a fun time to be here with the guys knowing that it's for a good cause and you're helping a family out. You're letting them celebrate the holidays the way it should be done."

---said Wildcats wide receiver Brad McKechnie. "It's fun because you know it's for a good cause. It puts a warm feeling deep down. It's a great community and we're fortunate to be able to help."

Happy Thanksgiving to all of Cat Nation and especially to good friends Tuxgay, Bluenote, Coco, DC1, CamCat, WC11, GHC, and others and of course WC64 who is trying to keep himself warm in the great northern reaches.  I must also wish Swede and family a happy Thanksgiving and many more to come.

I hope all the Cobber Fans coming to the Catdome are on their way and will enjoy the long trip by bus.  It won't be snowing at the Catdome, but I am sure there will be a catnip in the air and who knows, we  might even have a little Oregon liquid sunshine for you.

The count down is on for the Elks tomorrow night then the TG Saturday morning.  I am thinking about bringing some Jungle Juice for the Monkey stomp, but not sure if it could compete with GHC's Hi Octane or even regular Longies.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

Another great story about the unsung heroes.  They make the difference and we all tend to forget about them alot.

'64....thanks for the link!

A great Thanksgiving to each of you!   Be thankful for the many blessings we are entrusted with by the Creator.

Great article about the scout team players.  It's nice to see the guys who get the piss knocked out of them all the time getting a little recognition.  Best of luck to all of the players playing this weekend.  Maybe one day I can make it to a game up there, or host my own tailgate party if Linfield ever has to travel to So Cal.  All this talk about Long Islands and Jungle Juice makes me happy it's a day off from work.  Good luck to all and Happy Thanksgiving.

That has to be tough on all the assisstant coaches. But then, that's why practice counts, doesn't it?

LBC...I don't have a problem with automatic bids, even for weak conference champions, and am more than familiar with how Pool A works. I have never stated Whitworth or Willamette deserved to get in. I do think Whitworth and many other teams who did not get in are better than the MWC champ (does anyone not believe that?) and if the Pirates would have played Monmouth's schedule they would have been undefeated too, but I still wouldn't be in favor of conferences who meet the criteria not getting their conference champ in. My post was return banter to someone from the MWC who came on here talking about Elliott getting BJs from people on this board, and McMinnville being the armpit of Oregon. I assumed people would realize that.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Topcat 1,

Appreciated the article.  My friend Dale Tyson from Reno will be making his virgin voyage to Mac Dec. 3rd, flying in to see the Cats play.  Would you like to join "64 (I think he'll join us) and me and do your early morning walk with us giving him a tour of the Linfield campus?  He's like us and needs his daily exercise.  He's a potential serious Wildcat fan and contributor so let's make sure we show him a good time.   "64 did the official campus walking tour last year at homecoming which began at Nicholson Library so he can show us the route.  Anyone else want to join us?: Starting time TBA but before the tail gate.

I see the Stagg Bowl has been moved up to 10:00 a.m. PST this year.  Does that mean that D3 is getting a little more respect? That's a better time slot for us for sure.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.  Isn't it great to have so much to be thankful for?  Drive safely everyone.

CamCat,

Would love to join the early morning walk, meet a new friend, and of course if WC64 can do it I can too.  Its always fun to talk to 64.  If we walk, I might not feel so bad after splurging at the TG action and downing a few Longies.

See you Saturday and have a great Thanksgiving

I don't know if it means more respect, but I'm not complaining either. :)

Yeah why don't we reinforce the sterotype a little more that we're all a bunch of plow boys with thick canadian accents.

I found this quote interesting too...

The one positive piece of news for the Cobbers as they travel to McMinnville to face the defending national champions is that they are walking in the same footsteps of another Cobber underdog. In 1978, the Cobbers traveled to Oregon to take on the #1-ranked Wildcats in a playoff game and pulled off a 24-23 upset.

Can history repeat itself??
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Ahhh Coco, who is left in town now to use for a prop.....the Memorial Elementary Bulldogs??  :D
Columbus Elementary. Has purple doors in the office and support area. The cougar paws are puple. We have a number of wildcat alumni on staff including #92 who has a couple NAIA championship rings. Add some student teachers from linfield. One of the guys helping out is a soph. LB who did not make the playoff squad. I tried to get our school changed from cougars to wildcats but the previous principal would have no part of it.  >:(

I remember that very well and so do the 'cats seeing that article plastered up all over the locker room.  ;)

Cord glory,

Some of us also have a vivid memory of a 28-6 thumping by the Cobbers in 1964 on the frozen turf!

It's only been 41 years in coming but perhaps it's time to return the favor (but the field turf won't be frozen I guarantee you that)!
