I am not so convinced about all the talk of the WIAC being the toughest conference in DIII...They are certainly without a doubt the most balanced conference...or is that the conference with parity?

But since when does balance equal quality of play.  I am only convinced that White Water can beat SJU on an 8 turnover day....that's great for them...But I still think the Cats will prove to be a team a cut above the best from the WIAC...and quite possibly UW-WW while go the way of La Crosse.

MVP Predictions for this weekends game?  I'm guessing it won't be one of the big time names from either team.....

I don't know. I don't see anything BUT a big game out of Elliot and Allen but I'm thinking Hazenburg might be our top cat this week.

And when is Jared Thomas going to step up and have a HUGE game?  He was the leading receiver last year for Whitworth, I'd like to see him have an impact. That's why he came here, right?

Who really gives a crap about the weather.  Our Cats will jack these guys up rain or shine.

                     Salty D pitches a shutout !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You know, in some ways, I think rain can be worse than snow. Snow is cold, yeah yeah, but it doesn't soak into clothes and get right down into you the way rain does.  You start getting down two scores and that heavy rain-soaked jersey can seem pretty heavy.

Don't underestimate the power of wet. I have family south of Buffalo, NY. Some of the meanest winter weather ever. But there are days here, when it's damp and the cold wind starts blowing that just gets into your bones om a way cold snow doesn't.

My thoughts exactly, Blue. The coaches know what needs to be done; the players will be prepared, and this is OUR HOUSE!

Alright COCO   Lets get fired up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off to one more day of work and then the biggest game of the year.

Only a few hours until I get on the plane and head to Oregon. I will be within 45 minutes of the Dome by 9PM PST.

My prediction goes along the lines of quite a bit to not as much. 42-20. That sounds good.

I will see most of you at the tailgate. If you attempt to verbally abuse me, I will have you removed.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

The Car is packed, I'm heading out at 11am.  Can't wait for this one.

GO CATS   Get it done

28.5 hours and counting!!!!!!  Might have to find a high school game tonight just to keep me from going crazy with the anticipation.  As the song says, "It's the most wonderful time of the year...."
Go Cats!

Been looking through some stats now that I'm up and at 'em...

* SJU REALLY blew that game last week. Could not get it done and they had butterfingers at the worst possible moments. Talk about giving the game away. They served it up with a sprig of parsley.

* Stats for the year show 1489 rushing yards gained against SJU but 505 yards for loss, a net of 984 rushing defense. Perhaps they were over pursuing?  I think our guys, as long as they play the gaps and trust their teammates, will do better.

* WWU really only has three weapons. Beaver, and the two receivers. At first glance it seems that they use the pass to set up the run (and I believe that's what I heard in that online interview) but I think it's the run setting up the pass.  Stop Beaver, without overplaying him and without bringing up the safeties, and we'll do well.

* The WWU Qb is only about 55% on his passing. He doesn't scramble unless he has to. For our D that struggles against scrambling QBs, this will be a nice change of pace.

* Concordia had a much better rushing team (nearly 1,000 yards more on the year) than WWU. Concordia had three rushers with roughly 1,000 yards, WWU only has one real rusher: Beaver has nearly 2,000 yards, the next closest is 452. The QB only has 189 on the year.

* UWW keeps their 1st-stringers in the game far longer than necessary. Many times into the 4th quarter when the game is in hand. Why? Some of the write-ups had the tone that they were working at setting records; is that it?  Did they do it to pad stats and work their way up the rankings? To give them extra work to be ready for playoffs?  Not sure...

* UWW's closest game was against an unranked opponent, UW-La Crosse.  Had La Crosse not fumbled the game away in the final 20 minutes, they very nearly might have upset UWW.

More to follow...

I usually turn on the computer by 5:30 in the morn. Just time enough to applaud all the 'Cats.  :)
