Cats Great Season:  You all played a hell of a game!  Best game I've ever listened to!  Good luck in Austria!!!!!
Go Cats!

No gloating from me. That game was a heart attack just waiting to happen, I'm exhausted from listening.

Our color guy on the radio is a former WW assistant, retired, and the father of our D coordinator. He must have said 30 times that Linfield was the best d3 team he had ever seen. He called the offense a machine.

I'll be honest, I still can't figure out how the hell WW won.

I really wish someone didn't have to lose what many people are calling perhaps the best d3 game ever. Congrats to the Cats.

Great season 'Cats.  What a game to listen to.  I felt that WW could hang with you after watching them last week.  Too bad a team had to lose.  Having said that I would have rather lost the way you did today than the way that SJU did last week.

The only similarity was that turnovers hurt you, too.

I didn't understand the two deep balls Brett through on 2nd and 3rd down on the 'Cats second to last possession.  Why not just try for the first down to hopefully run the clock out?  Maybe you try deep on 2nd down but not both 2nd and 3rd downs.    Anyway, you guys had an awesome run and are a great team and institution.  Best of luck to the graduating class.  You gave your fans many proud memories!
Go Johnnies!!!

Congratulations to Linfield on a great year . . . I know you all wanted to repeat . . . but what a game today.  The 'Cat seniors  should all be very proud of what they have accomplished.

I'm bummed the 'Cats won't be going all the way, you have a special team.

And this was the game of the day . . . the Texas and USC televised games were nothing but boring (save for the remarkable Reggie Bush) . . . I was glued to the computer-cast of the 'Cat 'Hawk game . . .

Hope we see you guys next year.

Listened to the game on the radio from Wi, Had to be the best game i have ever listened to.  Great Game Both UWW and Linfield.  Linfield you guys had a great year and played one helluva game.  Wish i could of been there to witness it in person.  Good luck next year.

I don't think it's set in that the season is over.  It just feels like there is more football left to be played.

It was an epic battle between two great teams.  I'll post more later on my thoughts about this group of Linfield seniors that will be leaving us but I'm going to slip on a case of beer and try not to think about all of the "woulda, coulda, shoulda's".

Congratulations Warhawks, you're a hell of a team.

Well, just got back.  What a game.  We gave them way too many chances and the O couldn't find itself. UWW played a heck of a game but I came away feeling like the best team didn't win.  It's hard when you're fighting two teams: the opponents and the officials.

That was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen.  What was up with the phantom timeouts to allow UWW to get set or to interupt Linfield's flow?  Blown calls, missed calls, urg. Yes, we had some earned penalties that cost us but these officials were worse than the ones last week and that's saying something. I've never seen officials take such a heavy-handed role in the outcome of a game.

But one thing's for sure. When we hit the kicker--and that one truly was on us--after we'd held them to 3 and out on the opening possession and then allowed them to get down the field, that proved to be the game winner.

I certainly feel that was the true national championship.  Congrats UWW!  Good luck the rest of the way.

Oldpa,

You have every right to come in here and just kill us for all the crap we've talked over the past two years.  That's pretty cool you took the high road.  Maybe you aren't the bitterman I always thought you were. ;)

Too bad you couldn't be at the 'Catdome for todays game...it was an instant classic (just wish the 'Cats came out on the winning end).

Lever Street

I just returned from CatDome.  It was a great game.  Unfortunately the wrong team won.  Linfield had the ball twice late in the game with a 4 point lead, but couldn't get 1st downs to gain field position.  Whitewater was clearly the best team the CATS faced this season.  Two great teams faced each other today.

It seems as though the CATS ran out of time, rather than lost.

But I'm not taking anything away from Whitewater.  They have a great team.  I hope they go on to win it all.
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

coco

Thanks, oldpa.

And a huge thank you to the Linfield coaches and players for the outstanding football we've all enjoyed this season!

It's been a great ride!
Two words:  THE STREAK

OXY Oswald

Great game, usually I hate listening to broadcasts, but I was glued to my computer chair for the entire second half.  Some of the 'Cats playcalling towards the end was questionable, with around 3 minutes left they threw two deep fades that fell incomplete rather than trying gain the necissary yardage for the first down and run the clock.  They were then forced to punt from deep in their own territory and shanked it, giving the Warhawks great field position, and they capitalized.  Just my tilt on it, maybe someone at the game can say if the situation was different.. ?

Great season 'Cats

Time to start getting ready for OXY next year.

Go Tigers!
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

bluenote

Outstanding game by both teams. My general impression is that the game we saw today was the National Championship. I'd be surprised if UW-WW doesn't breeze through now and win it all. I was continually impressed with Linfield's defense throughout the game and was equally dismayed at the bad luck the Wildcats had with untimely penalties, turnovers and funky fluke plays that kept UW-WW in the game and eventually led to the victory. Great performance by two excellent teams.....

Foss

Tough way to see this great run end. Congrats to UWW.

Turnovers (especially for TDs and returns to inside the 5) = Not good, even for a team the caliber of the 'Cats

Evidentally the UWW color commentator, who is a former UWW assistant and has been around for years (now retired) repeatedly said Linfield was the best DIII football team he had ever seen. That's what is so painful about this loss. We had the horses to get it done again. We were just as talented this season, if not moreso than last, but made fewer mistakes last year. I think this was the one game this year where we saw how key it might have been to have Riley Jenkins back. We had no running game. None. But congrats to the Warhawks, they brought it to us on the road and had an outstanding team.

Thanks for another great season, 'Cats!
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
