Here's to a great Linfield squad - class of the Northwest Conference for longer than any of us non-Cats care to remember.

Hey Cats
Go Cats

We got our monies worth today!  Congrats to UWW!  You guys had a great offensive scheme and your Mr. Beaver is the real deal.  Watching UWW on offense kind of reminded me of watching an Ad Rutchman coached team with a variety of successful running plays, draws, cuttbacks, off tackle, then throwing to wide outs and using the tight end very successfully.  You guys used all your offensive weapons and kept the Cat D off balance most of the game.  Very multi-demensional 50% run 50% pass offense.  You guys should give Mt. Union a good run for their money!  Keep it in the West!
Great season Cats!  Hope we can find a big explosive back in the off season.  Have a good winter everyone!

I return to a neutral corner with these observations of the NWC board today...

eaglesfan
Warhawks up 3-0 w/8 minutes left, first quarter. WW offense kept alive by two roughing penalties of 15 yds. each. WW unable to get running game going so far.

fredfalcon
Elliot throws int., WW scores to lead 17-13. Mistakes killing Linfield so far.
Two-Three minutes later, Linfield leads 20-17.

George Thompson
2 long passes on Linfield's next to last possession.     They had lead 41-37; should have tried shorter passes just to get first down and KEEP THE BALL to run out the clock.

Jbuck64
Last TD came with Mike Kettler (defensive Lineman) as the fullback
(perhaps should have let him run the ball w/ 4 minutes and a lead.)

Cats get it 1st and 10 7: and change left in the 2nd quarter... Elliot Pass iNterecepted.. WW returns for a TD

MonroviaCat
CAT DOME is rocking today!!!!!  Can hardly hear the broadcast!
At one point for about 3 minutes it was silent I could yell to friends across the field and they could hear me. Eerie.

pastprime
How loud is the crowd now?
Astute observation. Now, to quote the d3 east, south guy Pat Cummings
"Go back to your own board, Jackass."

Jbuck64
mckechnie with a great return .. wiped out by penalty

Spunky little warhawks ain't they
You can say that again. Kind of team we need to fill our extra dates with.

Pat Coleman
check pronunciations before the game.
Half the crew on the air has the coughy/sneezies and did their best.

plulute2clu
I think Elliott may have just lost the Heisman
That's not all he lost.

OXY Oswald

Just wondering how they're getting so much pressure
They're good and they did not worry about the run

rockcat
Linfield fumbles.  WW at the Linfield 3.

wildcatinwi
Nice Play by Boock!!!!!  C'mon O!!!!
WW went at the guy the second half. He had to work like heck and really DID a great job here and should have been able to relax. When we gave the ball back, WW came right back after him leading to the penalty in the end zone. ( rockcat - PI on Linfield. )It looked 31 like not playing the ball.

plulute2clu
OHIO refs...they just shared that on the WW cast
Ah Oooo  there it is
Momentum killing 'personal fouls' right from the start

Pat Coleman Wow -- already doling out travel info to Salem in the first quarter of the national quarterfinals?
Well, YOU know how far it is out here and time and money have to be budgeted.
They've actually been doing it throughout the playoffs.

chewey
Tickets to Salem in the first quarter of a playoff game?

Veek
I didn't understand the two deep balls Brett through on 2nd and 3rd down on the 'Cats second to last possession.  Why not just try for the first down to hopefully run the clock out?  Maybe you try deep on 2nd down but not both 2nd and 3rd downs.
Join the club.

Foss
I think this was the one game this year where we saw how key it might have been to have Riley Jenkins back. We had no running game. None.
Evidently.

Quote"Pat Cummings from d3football.com.  Most of you don't know me because I am an east/south region guy."
You certainly are.

WW
Will you take your helmets off to the vanquished for going for it on 4th down and you couldn't stop it?
For keeping you out of the end zone with 5:00 left?

The timekeepers were embarrassing today. Too much confusion.

Whitewater...
Good game plan.
Very well executed.
You came so hard at LINFIELD's left side
MINE hurts.
Limited your turnovers to harmless ones.
Played within your means
and played your heart out on the road.
Congratulations.
Enjoy the trip home.

Yeah, we knew our running game would bite us sometime

JBUCK, MonroviaCat, et al,

thanks for the updates on this board during the game, it was all I had (I couldn't get a broadcast connection to work).  You kept me on the edge of my seat until JBUCK went off to cover the HoneyDo's.  Wow, that killed me!

I was bummed by your loss.  As a former Lute that is a first.

Your players and coaches should be proud of a great year, I know it hurts to lose, maybe even more so when you're undeafeted, defending champs, and lose before getting back to the final, been there.

Good luck next year, except against the Lutes!

go Whitewater, keep it in the West!

I am sure most of you are probably in mourning as I am.  I go through phases.
Phase I – Okay, we lost...Congratulations to the winner.
Phase II – Did we really lose or am I just dreaming...Ouch! yep, I'm awake.
Phase III – Hallucinations of how we should of, could of, would have won.
Phase IV – Blame game...If I would have just tuned in earlier...GHC phoned it in to soon, Bluenote was blowin his trombone to loud...Pat was rootin for WW...
Phase V – Pain & Denial
Phase VI – Reality Check, come on man the game is over.
Phase VII – Mourning
Phase VIII – Recovery
Phase VX – Dreaming of next year.

My mind short circuits occasionally, so I have a tendency to jump around these phases without out any particular order. ;D

In the meantime, Congratulations to the Wild Cats...it was an awesome season.  There really wasn't any losers in that game...chalk it up as Advanced Character Building 101.

Hopefully, we'll all get to follow BE playing on Sunday's in the future.

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

AGREE cris!!  Three out of the four games yesterday were awesome!!  Didn't even look at a game on TV until GA was up 24-7 and FSU/VATECH were 3-3.  Didn't miss a thing, but had a blast on this site!!

Sorry to see you guys get beat in a very close game.  Hey, you got your "bronze and walnut" and RU took it on the chin last year-- still looking for #1.

GOOD LUCK in the future!!   GO PROFS!!

Bluenote:
It's been awhile since I've posted here, friend.  Hope all is well with you.  Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line to say I'm sorry that your team lost yesterday.  It sounds like it was a tremendous game, wish I could have been there to see it.  Those kind of games are what make the playoffs so exciting.  No disrespect to UWW, however, like you guys, I was hoping for a Linfield/Mt. Union Stagg Bowl.  Nonetheless, congrats to Linfield's team and you and fellow fans for a great season.  Indeed it is hard to repeat as National Champions, however, I'm sure that Linfield will be in the top tier of teams again next year vying for the Stagg.

Don't know about the crew you got but most OAC crews call the game pretty close. Over the years they've received lots of boos from the Mount faithful, but all in all they usually call a good game. I can't believe the NCAA went to the expense of flying 7 guys to Oregon from Ohio.

Coach Locey, Linfield assistants and all players,

I know you, your coacing assistants and the players are very sad and disappointed.

But, thank you for another great season, filled with fun and thrills.  It apparently wasn't meant to be this year.

We fans really appreciate what you, your staff and your players have done.   Not just this year; but for the past 10 tears.

Keep your chin up   You all should be mighty proud.    One different play outcome yesterday and we would have won!

Thank you, again!

GO CATS, GO!

Couple things I wanted to say after digesting the best game I've ever seen...

*Granted the running game was non-existant yesterday but I think it's unfair to place all the blame on kotler.  He's a senior who waited his turn for 4 or 5 years and played well for us most of the year.  The blame for a lack of a running game doesn't start and end with kotler, there are a lot more pieces that need to fall into place to be a good running team.  Did you see some of the holes the Beaver was running through, he broke his fair share of tackles but the O-line was giving him some room to work.

I think Elliott and co. were so good on the receiving end there really was no urgency from our O-line to get down and dirty and run block.  They took great pride in pass protecting and were really good at, but I got the feeling that they considered running plays just a filler until we got to throw the ball for some "real" yards.

Overall I was very proud of the squad yesterday...they battled!  There was no giving up and as much as it hurts they shouldn't hang their heads based on that performance, they spilled their guts and that's all you can ask for...

By the way...to blame the L on the refs is weak sauce...I think the only questionable call all day was Keck's fumble.  We got some breaks too, Allen put the ball on the ground down by the goal line and they ruled him down.  The ball was clearly out before he hit the ground...Wisc. WW just made 1 more play than we did plain and simple...

Oh yea, and George...you're a PUNK!  And your most recent post doesn't erase all the ney-saying all year long.  If you don't like the programming, change the station...but I guess that's what makes this place great is we can all express our opinions, I just think yours sucks... :)

Great Season Cats!

Good Luck WW.

Congrats to the Wildcats on a great season. I sincerely hope the Johnnies get to play you next fall. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Great season by the Cats. We're all proud of the way you went down fighting until the last play. Looking forward to 2006 already......
