d-train,

Keep livin in your own world out there.  The fact is the East, South and North have been disrespected by the West all year.  This is just another comment to throw on the fire.  Everyone seems to think the Linfield-UWW game was for the national championship last weekend.  Your teams and fans should just keep thinking that.  Outside of the West, where the rest of the world resides games are still played on the field and UWW has not won anything yet.

all I hear is, "blah, blah, blah."

A tradition unrivaled...

Unless UW-W has a little bit of a let down, that was probably the national title game.

OU#25,

I guess we'll see. Unless everyone has it wrong, that was #1 and #2 going toe-to-toe. Sure, I could be proven wrong...but I think that game decided who the national champ will be this year. UW-W still has go out and earn it versus very good teams. But I think Saturday was the best team they'll face, and their biggest test.

What an indcredible season...really too bad that it had to end on Saturday.  Need to make up some sort of lie to tell my wife to get out of the house next Saturday.  It was an incredible run over the past two years and a real treat to be associated with.  Congratulations to all of the coaches and players...thank you for such a memorable run.

Congratulations to the UWW...as OC99 via Rick Flair says..."To be the best, you have to beat the best."

Easily the best football game I have ever been to...more impressive than the '94 Orange Bowl I witnessed to see Nebraska beat Miami.  One word somes Saturday's experience up..."WOW!"

WC11's list of who is leaving made me feel a little more sick to my stomach than I already did, however, just think about how much opportunity the younger kids have had to prepare for next year.  The margin of victory in most games this year was a significan luxury in getting the younger guys experience.

The best team didn't win on Sat. The luckest team won

Tez18, what game were you watching?

I was there. I'm not convinced that UWW was the best team. Hungry, yes, they are the real deal. Linfield still scored 41 and didn't play their best. UWW got the breaks in the game. Bottom line is that was one of the best if not the best game I've seen. And I hope that UWW wins it all

I guess it depends on how one defines 'best team'. I'd agree that Linfield had slightly more talent on the field. But the way I see it a majority of Linfield's mistakes were caused by the Warhawks; and their aggressive, swarming defense caused most of the 'breaks' to go their way. If Linfield "didn't play their best" - how much of that was because of opponent? I'd say the Wildcats got out-schemed and outplayed by a team that was every bit as good...and it had little to due with luck.

The one thing that mars Whitewater's win is the behavior of their fans, players and coaches. Chants of "overated" coming from the visitor section, coaches and players cursing the ref's and Linfield players. A few of their coaches were rolling around on the ground in front of our bench after passing through the handshake line. Celebration was expected , but come on UWW you should know better. Act as if you've been there before ... oh yeah you haven't.

Congratulations to the Wildcats. Can't wait for next year.

Sidebar....has anyone heard any rumors that Eric Ainge (Ten) or Gunderson (OSU) may transfer to Linfield this comming year? Just curious....

Let's hope Brett Elliott has started a Linfield trend. I too have heard rumblings.

Ainge seems to make more sense, since he would be coming back home and has an uncle on the Cats basketball staff. Hadn't heard anything about Gunderson.

Personally, I'd be much happier if a stud running back (someone like Beaver) decided to transfer, since the Cats are in pretty good shape with Benzel and Scharer.

... but what can you expect when the NCAA-holes put the top 3 teams in the same bracket?

Maybe...they weren't the top 3 teams?
Who would you suggest the top three teams are?

Well, I'm not sure about the top 3...but as of today the top 4 include:
WW, Wesley, MUC & Rowan.

That's why they play the games...isn't it.

d-train...sorry I did not run into you again on Saturday.

Clarification needed.
On Brett's fumble I saw a broken play where he was trying to get outside and he simply dropped the ball and
Quoteand their aggressive, swarming defense caused most of the 'breaks' to go their way.

that guy scooped it up and rambled to the 1.

Anyone refresh my perspective?  I was in the south end zone and saw the play from left (W) to right (e).

Those are the final four...not necessarily the top four. Do you presume to know what Linfield or St. John's would do against Rowan, Wesley, or Mt. Union?

Well....I'm still not over my case of depression, but I will say that it was one of the best games I've ever seen and that there was no doubt that the #1 and #2 teams in the country were on the field Saturday.

I knew it was too good to be true when my wife told me after the game last week to start looking for plane tickets to Salem, because she wanted me to go watch the stagg bowl if Linfield made it..... :'(

UWW, you had best win the freakin stagg or you will have an army of pissed off Linfield faithful to deal with!!!!

Pictures of the game are uploading now....I'll post a link to them in a few hours for those of you who weren't at the game.  They are in chronological order.

DC1,....... Thanks!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Oh no d-train - you really should fear the mighty East. You know, the region who has "playoff" teams that lose by 30+ points to the same team most years and then that team loses once it has to play someone outside of the East. You know, the region whose one decent team was without its top 2 players, plus another top player (see Around the Nation) and had to play on the road this postseason and STILL beat all of the teams in this region. Yes, d-train - be afraid. Be very afraid.

The only reason the East has someone left in the final four is because they don't have to play anyone worth a hoot in that region. I give Wesley props this season for beating some good teams in the South although there is debate as to whether Delaware is in the North or East. As someone else posted a while back on a different board, it's unfortunate that due to the NCAA's seeding, certain schools can go around saying, "We won the region 3 of the last 4 years," etc. and schools in other regions have to battle for their lives just to win a game or two based on the competition. All the NCAA has to do is balance things out more fairly for all the schools across the country and they refuse to do so. This isn't sour grapes over Linfield's loss. If UWW can beat us at the 'Catdome then they could sure beat us on a neutral field. But it sure would have been nice to not have the #1 and #2 team play in the quarterfinals, and be able to say the 'Cats were the West Region champs, play a couple of more games, and still get to experience the Stagg Bowl for a second straight year (even if we were to lose).

Regarding Ainge, I heard that rumor too but recently heard it's a no go. Hadn't heard anything about Gunderson.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
