Thanks to all the Linfield fans that let me hang on saturday.  Crappy way to end a season, but a great season it was.  Good luck to all and happy holidays.

CAWCDAD- Thanks for the pictures!

Ok, after some delay with the upload....here are the pictures from the game.

The best team didn't win on Sat. The luckest team won

Tez18, what game were you watching?

I was there. I'm not convinced that UWW was the best team. Hungry, yes, they are the real deal. Linfield still scored 41 and didn't play their best. UWW got the breaks in the game. Bottom line is that was one of the best if not the best game I've seen. And I hope that UWW wins it all

I guess it depends on how one defines 'best team'. I'd agree that Linfield had slightly more talent on the field. But the way I see it a majority of Linfield's mistakes were caused by the Warhawks; and their aggressive, swarming defense caused most of the 'breaks' to go their way. If Linfield "didn't play their best" - how much of that was because of opponent? I'd say the Wildcats got out-schemed and outplayed by a team that was every bit as good...and it had little to due with luck.

D-Train - couldn't agree with you more. You don't win ball games by simply showing up. You got to prove it on the field. Linfield didn't - WW did!! Time to go back to the drawing board for Linfield (& SJU)

Well, I don't know how I did it but I managed to painfully listen to the postgame show on the UWW website. I just needed some kind of closure (which I found out won't come for a long time).

Some items of interest:

Their coach called this game the greatest one he had ever seen.

Not quite, what he actually said was..."It was probably the greatest Division III football game that I've ever been involved with in all my years of coaching."
Coach Bob Berezowitz, is in his 21st season at UW-W. Of course, as QB, he led the Warhawks to the 1966 NAIA Championship Game.
Just thought that was worth correcting...

The McMinnville paper is reporting today that Casey Allen will be leaving on Sunday to play in the Aztec Bowl. Brett will be passing because of graduation ceremonies the following day.
Great opportunity for Casey to get some more attention, although I'm pretty sure Elliott will make sure he at least gets a free agent tryout by whichever team drafts him in April.

#4 And finally to wildcatinwi, you had indicated several times that if Linfield lost to WW, you would be in attendance at this week's national semifinal at Perkins Stadium.  Make sure you are wearing Linfield apparel, I will be looking for you.

Hey, I'll be there.  I have to admit that my Linfield apparel consists of a couple sweatshirts so it will be a little tough to see under my jacket and winter coat that are needed this time of year.  (Does Linfield even sell "outer" outerwear?)  If someone would invite me to a tailgate, I would be happy to show up.  :)

I would imagine that Elliot will get a shot in one of the higher profile all-star games (Blue-Gray, Senior Bowl, etc.).  I think you are limited in the number of those you can play in, so I wouldn't think Elliot would want to play in the Aztec Bowl, anyway.

Does anyone know if he will get into an all-star game?

Elliott was invited to play in the Las Vegas All-American Classic and the Hula Bowl.  All that I know is that he's playing in the Hula Bowl on Jan 21st..

Well,...I don't think we can be criticized for talking about a charter to Hawaii at this time.

Oh, maybe we shouldn't until finals are over.

I know Allen was hopeful that a strong showing might get him invited to one of the other all-star games. I'm sure he'd be happy to add a vacation to the Hula Bowl to his week's vacation in Mexico.
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, so hopefully he'll be at the top of his game next week.

ATC--Sweet slide show of the pics.  I listened to the game on the internet on Sat.  Must have been even better to watch.  Elliot had a wonderful two years at Linfield, would there been a chance that he would have started all 4 years if he hadn't gone to U. of Utah?

cobber...tough to say considering the guy before him was an All-American and held all of Linfield's passing records for a year before Elliott came in and broke them...

Getting invited to the Hula Bowl as a DIII player does not happen too often.  Blake Elliot played in it, now Brett Elliot.  Good for him!

Yeah, he wasn't too shabby, either.  Matthews, was it?
