The lesson is, Downtown, do criticize the "master."

A tradition unrivaled...

Now that's it's been a few more days since the game, I have a couple more thoughts on the season.

First, thanks Wildcat11, for listing all the seniors. Man, that's a great bunch of players, and it will be a while before we see the likes of them again. Whether they were here for a year, like Dailey, or four, as Hazenberg was, they all contributed to an outstanding season.  Hazenberg, a Yamhill County boy, came up big for us against Whitewater on defense. I'm guessing we won't  have a kid who goes both ways anytime soon.

I've been proud to be a Wildcat, as I always am, this season. These players have brought credit to their families, the college and the community. With the football camp for little kids and the their Thanksiving fundraiser, they have continued to set a good example for others. It's not all about football.

The football is what give most of us our enjoyment, however, and for that I'm most grateful. We organize our lives around Linfield football in the fall, and wouldn't have it any other way. These are fine young people in an excellent program, and we're thankful to the coaches for running a clean program as well.

In another West Region conference, after a playoff game which ended in a loss, one of the posters berated the players by name and number in crude language.
That is inexcusable, IMO, and I know my fellow Wildcats would never do that. Certainly all of us, players and fans alike, are disappointed at the loss, but stuff happens. We lost, but we lost with class and dignity in a hard-fought game. The 'Cats had an outstanding season, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Saturday's game was one of the best I have ever seen at any level, and I will never forget it.

We hope to see all you seniors back watching with the rest of us, and being part of the alumni crowd. We wish you the best. To the underclassmen, we'll look forward to seeing you next year.

Thank you, Linfield Wildcats, for another awesome football season. You guys are the best!

Getting invited to the Hula Bowl as a DIII player does not happen too often.  Blake Elliot played in it, now Brett Elliot.  Good for him!
What NAIA player played in the Hula Bowl? He was a D1 trasfer to Southern Oregon. I Think it was a a couple years ago. the guy came from Arizona but can't remember his name.
wildcat 11... You wanna refreshen me on this.

Anyone hear chatter about H.S. recruits comming to Linfield?
I know if coach Lemmon has his way Bubba will be wearing purple next year. Already has a couple son's on the team and if I am not mistaken he has another one that is trying to get his grades up so he can enroll at LC.

Bubs1856

Swede--I think you are probably referring to Andre (sp) Thurman from Southern Oregon.  I believe he is currently playing for the Packers.

In regards to Bubba...I would certainly love to see him come to McMinnville but rumor has it he has been offered by PSU, Montana State, and the Air Force.  Would be real tough for a kid to pass up a trip to the Academy.  We can always hope dad and bro's are a little more influential.

Coco,

Very well said.   This Linfield team, and the thre prior years, will leave good memories forever.

If someone would invite me to a tailgate, I would be happy to show up.  :)

What if you just showed up at their tail gate with a smile on your face, a spring in your step and a little food to contribute and some Linfield outerware?

I'd say your chance of being accepted would be about 100% wouldn't you think?

Swede,
I think it was Thurman -- Andra/Andre? Transfer from Arizona or ASU, I think.

Sorry, I missed that Bubs had answered it. Thurman had a big fumble against the Eagles.

CamCat: Don't hold your breath. It is my belief that a transfer (for playing purposes)  to DIII by any player with Elliott's approximate time of play in DIA (8 starts) and with at least his playing quality is truly rare.

Unfortunately I believe you are absolutely right.  Elliott is truly amazing.

No kidding (literally) about the stress on the MIAC board.
I am swallowing any more sarcasm about LINFIELD players selected (not) to anything on this site.

I will attempt to be an interested party to how this season plays out and hope everyone's health holds.

Always an advocate for LINFIELD but discretion being the better part...

What's with Lewis & Clark?  They don't even say what happened to their football coach, a guy they promoted big time last year. Guy was foolish to cast his lot at that school.

L & C is the school that can't shoot straight. Either become Reed College with athletics or get behind your athletic program. There's no inbetween (I know, WOU's admin kind of half-a$$es its support and that is not good) ... you either support it from the president level on down, or you don't.

What a mess.
