Perhaps the vaunted MUC program would care to be real tough and volunteer to go to the West bracket NEXT year. All home games when they earn them, of course.

Over the years Mount has gone where the selection committee's bracket has sent them: Mich, Wisc and PA. If MUC is lucky enough to be selected next year and the committee wants MUC to go to Collegeville, I doubt that they'll balk.

D O.C.

Heck no! they would not balk. They are the best program in the whole division. They've lost heartbreakers enough to go with their crowns.

And variety is the spice of life.

runyr,

Well said and on point.  Karma for you!

Mount played a great team game this saturday and did what my 'Cats couldn't in taking ouy the Warhawks.  If I was able to chose an MVP it would have gone to your d-line for taking Jacobs out of his game for the majority of the contest and the great play in the red zone.  Congrats to your incredible program.

We would love to have MUC(k) come to Collegeville for the national semifinals next year. Can we "phone it in?" We'll see. ;D

Merry Christmas to everyone in the NWC and all the best in the New Year.

GO JOHNNIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO LUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(have to take the ecumenical approach here 8))

Next year it will be a 33 team tournament.  32 teams ware playing for the right to play MUC (no k needed).  Didn't you get the memo on this new format?

Saturday as most people were celebrating or talking about the exciting Stagg Bowl game, I was just sitting down to watch it on tape. Why? I had just returned from the graveside service of one of the best athletes I have ever known. A young man who was a great competitor (All-American, team captain, and two time National Champion in water polo at UCLA) and even better gentleman taken at the age of 32 in an auto accident. A young man I was lucky enough to coach in high school.

At the ceremony were several of his former teammates, my former players. The reminiscing and remembering had me thinking of many things, not the least of which is the impact players have on their coaches. Much has been written and discussed about the impact that coaches have on the lives of their athletes. I guess I knew, but I never fully realized the tremendous impact the athletes have on us as coaches until that moment.

There is something truly special about the fraternity and special bonds created in the athletic arena. The emotional highs and lows, the struggles to reach elusive goals, the drive for individual and team improvement are things that many, who say it is just a game, don't seem to fully comprehend. Athletics builds character. It teaches us positive competition and even more, cooperation and teamwork.

For all the athletes, coaches and  fans reading this, remember, the sting of games lost, the glow of championships won, will fade with time, but the memories and bonds created will last forever. Savor each moment, for you never know when it will be over.

I didn't really know where to post this so I am putting it here, for people who I have come to know and appreciate. Thank you for for allowing me this little catharsis.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and the very best in the New Year. Now go give someone you love and appreciate a hug and let them know how much they are appreciated!!

cawcdad,

Nice post. Thank you.

You stated it much more eloquently than I could have, or most of us on here.
Two words:  THE STREAK

cawcdad, Very sorry for your loss!

Nice post, Life is short sometimes, so we must live each day to the fullest!

Thank you for the photo by the way.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Tuxguy

bluenote........ouch, we've taken some karma hits these past couple of days, and for what?

Merry Christmas my good friend!

TuxGuy my fine friend.... don't worry about the karma. I've heard there may be a compiled list at the end of the year on the website to show who gave who smites and applause. The list may also include all members of the d3football.com staff as well.... ;D

Here is a Season Final poll I tend to think is very accurate in most respects:

raiderguy...thanks for the kind words but we really never got into it that much because we got taken out before the big show. Enjoy the Festivities of being Champion, I know we all did! I agree.... can't untill our 2 teams can meet up! Maybe next year....Have a great Holiday Season.

Very sorry for  your loss, cawcdad.  I attended a similar service 3 weeks ago for a 16 yr old neighbor child who was buried in his high school football uniform.  One always thinks that it doesn't happen in small towns, that it won't happen to anyone I know, but when it does, it is devastating.  A small fight . . some bravado. . .a knife . . .2 young people's lives ruined . .not to mention all those around them.  What a waste.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

"Poll" implies more than one person's opinion was included.

There's no master year-long list of applauds and smites.
