Tux:
At the specified time, local time in Oregon is 2 hours ahead of Hawaii.
The 2006 Hula Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2006, in Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7PM EST/2PM Hawaii Standard Time (Yes, Hawaii has its own time zone) and will be nationally-televised by ESPN at 4:00 p.m. in Oregon. (Pacific Time)

Actually, I believe it's ESPN2 that's broadcasting the game...  Didn't want you to turn on the TV and panic or anything.   ;)
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

Gig Harbor Cat

Just jumping in to say Hi to all of my tailgate friends or is it fiends. (bring on the chowder) :o Anyway, looking forward to the Hula and watching the Butcher in action again.

GO CATS

Tuxguy

GHC, great to hear from you! Do you think we will ever forget the chowder day? I think not ;D.

Tez, don't worry, no band at the baseball games! Just peanuts! ;)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

MonroviaCat

O.K.  so I know I've been told that Brett Elliott is playing for the West and I know I've had Tez post a copy of the roster and I know that I posted the Hula Bowl's relase of the roster that has Brett Elliott on the East.  So could you all please read this link and let me know which team I should be watching to see our guy this weekend.  See the following story:  http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=AtRkVYSnGYlu6iTgVLuk6M8cvrYF?slug=ap-hulabowl&prov=ap&type=lgns
Go Cats!

Tuxguy

MonroviaCat, for some reason Brett will be playing on the EAST team. I've seen other rosters as well with him as an East member.
I guess I cheer for the east when Brett  is in the game, and the west the rest of the time. My guess is because he is D3 they thought it not to be that big of a deal to put him in the east to even out the QB's. I'm just happy he gets to play, and I can watch  him on T.V.
         Good luck Brett............GO WILDCATS!

I thought I'd post this here as well, since I know some of you guys have Linfield ties that go back to when the Cats and the Kingsmen used to clash in the NAIA playoffs.

The new head coach of the Detroit Lions is a Cal Lu alum (early 1970's vintage):

Here's hoping things go well for him in the Motor City, it's been a long time since the Lions had anything going in the way of long term success.

Regarding Elliot on the East Team -

The Hula Bowl did some other interesting geographic alignments so I don't think it has anything to do with him being D3 -

The East also has a player from Stanford and Oklahoma State, while the West followed D-3 regions in putting a player from Wisconsin Oshkosh on the West, while University of Wisconsin has players on the East.

Sort of confusing

That means my Athletic Trainers will be on the same team as Brett.  This is a good thing for me!!!  Hope he gets to play a lot.  Unlike you guys, I didn't get to see him play this year, because you'll didn't come east.:(  So tomorrow is my chance--the first since December 2004.  With my kind of luck good old Adelpia Cable will go out at 6:59 EST (that's 3:59 PST, I think)  That O-Line better do a more credible job than last week is all I have to say!!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Regarding the Hula Bowl, when I press the "info" button on my Comcast remote, this is what appears on the screen:

"East vs. West in the 60th annual college football all-star game in Honolulu. The all-seniors event includes several players from Division III schools."

Not sure exactly how to interpret that, but I think it's probably a good thing for ESPN2 to point that out. Perhaps their coverage of the Stagg Bowl the last few years has something to do with it.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

About time you showed up, Foss. You've pretty much been AWOL lately.
Two words:  THE STREAK

D O.C.

Hey Foss! You scooped me. I came on to post that very tid bit.
Would you mind putting it in the blog today on the front page?
Can't find my password in a new hard drive. ;)

Foss

DenS, I would but it's been so long for me I don't remember my password on the blog. Maybe Pat or someone can throw it up real quick.

coco, I didn't want to screw up a good thing, my man. I've enjoyed reading the different ideas on the band resurrection and appreciate the tenacity to try and make it happen, regardless of whether or not it does (hey, at the very least can we please fix the speaker system which was installed the same day Meriwether Lewis & William Clark first visited the area?)
