Shoot, mine doesn't say that. I'm on DirecTV though.

Feels weird cheering on the East for the Hula Bowl; Brett's doing better than he did in the Las Vegas Bowl.  I wonder why his helmet doesn't have the Wildcat on it, any insight?

RedandPurple

Thanks swede.
I made the adjustment and didn't miss a thing.

LCLetters:
Perhaps the decals are removed to clean the helmets after the season ends.

Last week  in Las Vegas I was told he took the decals off and gave them to kids at the end of the season.
My thought was OK, get some more because that distinct decal shows up so great in photos and FREE ADVERTISING!!!!

LCLetters

Dens, sounds like something Brett would do, but it would be great to see him representing the 'Cats.  I know Casey had his decals on down in Mexico for the Aztec Bowl.

If the media says Reality TV a big hit,
then bring back the open mike of the old American Footall League!

Were you able to hear that bit right before the beginning of the second half
"Nobody's sackin' you. What did you see?"

Quiz question: What did Elliott answer?

Foss

I'll take a guess:

Answer: "Why aren't you asking the D1 QB (#4) the same question after some of his passes have short-hopped his WRs, coach?"
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Brett didn't wear the Wildcat Decal at the Las Vegas Bowl either, what's with that? I tried to call Beancounter to find out if that was the case because he Tivo'd the game, but he was at the BB Game (surely you can give a few decals to some kids, but you can also have ones for yourself for the game, I don't think we're that cheap are we?)....I just got off the phone with TuxGuy and he and I both couldn't figure out why Brett was not wearing the Linfield Decal on his helmet? It looked to us that every other player on the roster was sporting their team logo/helmet and were proud of the fact and that by wearing their helmet gave respect and pride to the college they went to? We don't understand.... Both of us were somewhat mystified and somewhat bummed as to why Brett was not wearing the Linfield Decal on the helmet?...what gives!   :-\

I double checked a picture of Elliott from the Las Vegas All-American game and it appears that he DID NOT have the Wildcats logo on his helmet. The shot is from the back and to the side, but I didn't see the 'cat. I really don't believe there's anything sinister about the missing logo. Although it would have been nice to have it on.
Of the 4 QBs in the Hula Bowl, Brett played the best. The commentators didn't do their homework concerning Linfield. I heard one of them say  "...Linfield runs a lot of screens. The scouts here want to know if Elliott can throw the ball downfield. Their not concerned with short (16 yard) passes." Also, the slap to our #8 was not appreciated. When the WR from Central Florida caught a pass from Elliott the announcers commented that Brett didn't have a receiver like him to throw to at Linfield.

I also caught the comment about the Linfield recievers and immediately pointed out to my father in law #8 this past season and #2 from 2004.

bluenote

...yes...I also heard those comments and immediately thought of all the great receivers we've had also including #8 and #2...and alot of others. But what's the scoop on not wearing the Wildcat Decal at either game??? I didn't see any other players who wore a generic white helmet, unless maybe they were from Penn State???

Can't solve the mystery of the 'Missing Cat Logo", but here are the 2005 stats for
our #8 and the WR from UCF:

UCF WR: 6'4" 230 / 13 games, 74 receptions, 1,195 yards  11 touchdowns

Our #8: 6"3" 225 / 11 games, 78 receptions, 1,314 yards  22 touchdowns

Quiz answer:(to the best of my memory)

"I didn't see anything (nuthin')."

At the risk of being vague here, this was the east coach asking Brett when he came out of the game (after throwing the T.D., I believe).

It was 3rd and 10 with 3:07 left in the 2nd Q with the East leading 10-7. Elliott completed a 5 yard pass, made it 4th and 5,  came to the sideline and the coach asked him what he saw. Brett replied, " I saw a man up top, I was going to go up top, mumble-mumble." Coach: "Did you see the boundry?" Brett: ' I didn't even look at the boundry."
