America roots for the underdog.
Somehow I gravitate toward it too.

Just for fun:

I guess college football television announcers just can't cut it announcing NFL games. We all know college announcers don't have the same level of communicating skills as the real pros do. The ability to get their facts straight, correctly pronounce a players name and so on. Oh sure there are some exceptions to the rule, but overall college football announcers just aren't at the same level.

Like I said, just for fun.

OK...in Wildcat11's "3rd possession video", about halfway through it, another graphic on Brett comes up only this time it is NOT the LINFIELD helmet logo. What is it?
My mind keeps trying to see d3. Could it be?

It's the East All-Star Logo.

Why did Davie always refer to Linfield as "Tiny Linfield"? Mention it once and then just call it Linfield.

Red and Black East All-Star logo.
Thanks. I can sort of make that out while the d3.com logo fades in my mind's eye.

Tiny LINFIELD has been sort of a badge of honor back before Sports Illustrated used it in the early '70's for an article on how Rutschman coached from the box on top of the grandstand instead of down on the field.

What I got when I got home from Roanoke last December, there were more than a few people talking about how UMHB got much better support from the broadcasters than Linfield did....which I thought was a bit funny because most national broadcasters could care less who wins and loses.

Be that as it many, he ESPN crew hardly did a great job last season....though it was a bit better this year with Gary Bender and Bill Curry.

But the idea of an ESPN conspiracy against Linfield was one step beyond the "ten hot dogs in a package, eight hot dog buns to a package" conspiracy on the grassy knoll we have come to know and love.  Or maybe Mike Tomczak is a on the payroll and UMHB and he was told to stick it to Linfield on the air that day....

Bleh! Are you serious? Bill Curry is awful in every game he does.

Brett did not wear helmet decals because he traded his at the las Vegas Bowl, and then assumed he could stick on a bunch of the new decals he had for the Hula. Then he found out ESPN was not allowing that practice (if indeed they are the ones that mandated it, because it was prevalent in the Shrine game) and was stuck with the all-white helmet.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

O.K.  I haven't seen anybody bring this up yet but did anybody else catch in the second half of the game, they were talking about how they had the QBs miked up and they went to Brett who said, I'm pretty sure "let's keep this sh*t going" or something to that effect.  There was a quick, but awkward silence from the booth....it was pretty classic.  I had to laugh!

Now that Albertsons MARKET is being bought, will that mean that Albertson in Idaho will get enough new endowment to bring back football? ;D

True, If they were NFL material they'd be doing NFL games.

For all you guys speculating on whether or not Brett Elliot is going to get to the NFL take some advice from someone who has been through it...I played at UW-L, Yes the team you absolutely hammered last year!!  I had every team at out practices my senior year...every team!! one day there was 4 teams following me from drill to drill.  I ran a 4.44 for the seahawks and the packers at my pro day weighing in at 244...I did not get drafted or even sign a free agent deal, (I layed an egg my sr year...oh well!) I was brought down on a try out basis and did not make the cut...I have not had the season/s that Mr. Elliot had but I think it will be tough for him to get drafted if he is not invited to the combine...A LOT will depend on the agent he signs with if he has not done so already....Brett if you are reading this take your time and choose the right one...one with a track record of success...with that being said you must preform well at your pro-day and if you can go to oregon states or oregon's proday to make sure you are in front of as many people as you possibly can do it...I have never seen a guy just completely dismantle a team the way he did to us...he is very good and I wish him the absolute best of luck...I believe he will get a free agent deal...unless you are invited to the combine...that is probably it, but make sure you stay in shape and get allocated to europe the following winter   Good Luck to yourself and to Casey Allen....They put their pants on the same way we do!!!

WOU,

I'm right with you man.  I use to think the way red & purple thinks until I stood on the sidelines of a lot of duck's and beaver's practices and games. :o

anyone see Ed langsdorf on the College football home page for ESPN today?
if BE dosen't get drafted he could use his inside track to the chargers as a practice player or even as a third QB behind Rivers.

The announcers especially Bob Davie don't know sh*t. Some of his comments were just ignorant when it came to commenting on the level of play at the DIII level. His knock on B.E. not having talented receivers at the DIII level was idiotic at best. No wonder he is announcing instead of directing a top flight program like Notre Dame.

I'm posting this without reading the rest of the board so I'm probably late to the discussion but I agree wholeheartedly with you on the idiotic announcers.  When Elliot threw his interception it was all about how he's not used to that sort of speed (on the defensive players) and he's never seen that sort of talent at the DIII level, blah blah blah.  Well, the very next series when the DI QB threw one, I noticed he didn't say anything about him not being used to that sort of speed at Missouri.  No excuses whatsoever.

Idiot.
