Be happy Linfield was represented at the Hula Bowl, and if Elliott and Allen are worthy of big-time accolades, they'd be going to the combine or be getting drafted.

The hand-wringing that will go on here when Elliott doesn't get drafted will be interesting. "Hey, he's better than that Big 10/SEC/Pac-10 QB, etc.

Yes, undoubtedly.  Personally, I don't expect Elliot to get drafted but that may not be bad. If he goes free agent, he might be able to pick a team rather than the other way around.  (I'd hate to see him end up in Buffalo.) And I think it'd make a better story if he has to work he way into a lineup somewhere.

Just as long as he doesn't work his way into the "other" lineup that so many other NFL players end up in...  :o
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

Also if he is not drafted, he is likely to get a signing bonus, whereas 7th round picks typically either do not or get smaller ones.

d-train......good to see you hanging around.   Not quite tax season though.....it is for payroll reporting and the like, but we aren't going to be preparing our first individual return until next week.

Until then, I can still afford to spend a little time here and read this hilarious stuff about how ESPN announcers some fans feelings (stating what is pretty obvious, mind you), how the lack of a band ruined the games this season and the decal debacle.  Just reminds one of the proverb..."if you go looking to have your feelings hurt, you'll no doubt find it".

Interesting transfer news of a d1 guy coming to Linfield....as Drudge would say....developing.....

woufan,

Who ever said anything about a conspiracy? Bob Davie's comments were biased, and that is all that has been pointed out. Not some conspiracy or agenda to knock DIII football. Bob Davie just sounded uninformed to me and some here called him on it. Big deal, I'm over it.

RFB--

Glad you're over it.   When you get down to the bottom line, everybody's comments are biased...as Jake Blues once said, "you, me, us, them....everybody, everybody".

If it wasn't Bob Davie, it would've been someone else. He's right on some accounts: D3 talent is much inferior to D-I talent, but should've balanced criticizing both QBs for their mistakes, not just Elliott.

I like Davie on ESPN, I think he's pretty sharp.

Broadcasters are straw men: They'll be knocked down no matter how good or bad they are. If it was Tirico or Fowler or Gottfried and they didn't gush over Elliott, they would've been trashed, too.

It's not Davie per se, it's Brett didn't get enough love in Linfield fans' eyes. They should just admit that.

RFB

woufan,

I am not a Linfield fan or supporter. I played for and graduated from Redlands but I call it like I see it. This is just my opinion, but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder in regards to Linfield and Brett Elliott.

woufan

No chip, I was excited when Brett transferred to Linfield. I knew he'd do well as I saw him play in high school and he was tremendous. I love his quotes regarding the game of football is about playing and not sitting on the bench, and the difference between the two. I loved the NY Times article on the guy.

I also have a great deal of respect for Linfield and what they've accomplished. They win and in turn do so with class.

My only beef is the "two passes and he's a lock for the NFL" and "he's better than most QBs out there" and that some ESPN announcer doesn't like Elliott or Linfield enough. I just don't think ESPN or their announcers have any kind of built-in dislike for Linfield.

I get real tired of the "no respect" card ... it was even played by Tom Brady this year. Everyone plays that card, from Linfield on up ... I've long been tired of it.

RFB

woufan,

Fair enough, I was the one that said two throws and a future in the NFL. I thought the first two throws showed a lot. He displayed great composure, very good mechanics and fundamentals, and his arm strength is very good. We all know he has the size and a very good head on his shoulders. Will he make it? Who knows, but I feel he has the tools to be successful at the next level. Remember, just my opinion.

D O.C.

Perhaps if the division keeps sending players to post season "Look Bowls" then announcers will one day be more informed.
No mention of Mount Union's winning streak or 50 winning season either.
May be some of the announcers saw the All American Bowl, which did not help the individual or division cause.

Shane Falco...come down and see Long Beach Poly High School games some time; pre USC, Oregon St., Ducks. The speed and athleticism is barely believeable.

Yeah the Jack Rabbits are a must see on the football field as is De La Salle. So what's up with that U of O recruit being arrested for that shooting?

Thanks Tezbaseball for the link. Talking about a big time put down of DIII football.
