You posted the wrong info. Your post was about Bob Davies, with an s. Bob Davie was the announcer at the Hula Bowl for ESPN.
I thought something was wrong when there was no mention of his Notre Dame years in the bio you posted so I did some research. Here's the real info from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Robert Edwin Davie, Jr. (born September 30, 1954 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania) is a college football analyst and former American college football coach.

In 1977, Davie began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Arizona from 1978-79. From 1980-82, he returned to Pittsburgh as linebackers coach and then moved to Tulane as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach from 1983-84. From 1985-1989, Davie served as the outside linebackers coach at Texas A&M before serving as the school's defensive coordinator from 1989-93.

In 1994, Davie began his Notre Dame career as a defensive coordinator and as head coach from 1997 to 2001. In five seasons at South Bend, Davie compiled a 35-25 record including three bowl games (most notably the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, which was the first BCS game in school history); his final season included the 2001 AFCA Academic Achievement Award when the Notre Dame football team posted a 100% graduation rate.

Currently, Davie is a college football analyst for ESPN.

Davie is a graduate of Youngstown State University.

Tuxguy......the Spokane Spokesman-Review reported that Brian Nooy is coming to Linfield.  That doesn't mean he is on campus and paid his tuition, but it is a good sign.   And I've been told he is not coming to play QB.....he is coming to be a DB.

Here is a cut and paste

Idaho's Nooy transferring to Linfield

Spokane S-R
Tuesday January 24, 2006

University of Idaho reserve quarterback Brian Nooy, a native of
Pendleton, Ore., has transferred to NCAA Division III power Linfield
College.

Nooy completed 24 of 49 passes for 253 yards as the No. 2 quarterback
behind Michael Harrington in 2004. He didn't play this season.

The Vandals have two oral commitments from prep quarterbacks –
6-foot-5 Nathan Enderle, who has already enrolled at UI, and 6-4
Jonathan Tobin, who led Cactus High of Glendale, Ariz., to a 4A state
title.

............................................

Those of you who are around Linfield may recognize the name....Brian's sister Erin played basketball and volleyball for the Wildcats a couple of years ago.

Nooy could play corner and QB just north on 99W a little bit.  ;)

Wildcat11 sent me the article from the former UPS nutball.  Considering that the only equipment a cross country runner wears is nipple guards to cut down on the rub factor, we should just consider the source.

Heard that Brian is taking a few classes at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton this spring to try and get his grades up and will reapply to Linfield in the fall.

Erin is also the new girls freshman basketball coach at McMinnville High School.

Very well written. Brett did a good job. Love his comments about Coach August and playing football at Linfield. I wish the best for him.

just a note: the long beach poly head coach is a former linfield player. #50 raul lara, played during the '84 championship season. even though he went to some other school, to finish school closer to home, he is a wildcat. i stay in touch with him and have seen his team play both in LB and honolulu.

GHC, as a former Johnnie cross-country runner, the nipple guards were something I had never heard off. :o Must be a UPS thing. Then again, we did have the privilege of wearing pink jocks, pink socks and pink t-shirts for practice in Collegeville back in the 70's.

Hope everyone on the NWC board is off to a great start in `06.

woufan,

I am not a Linfield fan or supporter. I played for and graduated from Redlands but I call it like I see it. This is just my opinion, but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder in regards to Linfield and Brett Elliott.

I realize this topic is probably overwith but I had to add my thoughts. I am not a Linfield fan/supporter either (OAC and Mount Union) but Elliott, Linfield and DIII all got bashed by Davie. The QB from Miami (Ohio) sucked - no other word for it. His passes were either short or had too much air under them - and his decision making was questionable. But he was not called out. Davie never said 'well MAC talent is not the same as the rest of D1'. I did not expect them to gush over Elliott but at least give the kid credit - he threw the only TD pass in the game and was on target.

Elliott won't get drafted but he will end up somewhere in the NFL.

I move we forget the pep band and let Wildcat 11 just program all the music to be played DURING the game.
Geesh, for all the lauding WC11 does of Joel Clark he sure doesn't have anything to show his mom in those videos.

Thanks again for the entertainment. Can see you're getting used to the editing every release.
