Breaking news!! Elliot's a charger.  Brett was signed this evening by the San Diego Chargers.  Apparently the Bengals were showing the most interest but the Chargers came on strong in the end.  Good luck to Brett, and congratulations.

Great report Orca....so what's the QB situation at San Diego?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Dr. Sparky

And what's your source?

Chargers took Whitehurst, QB from Clemson, today which gives them three on their team: Phillip Rivers, AJ Feely (former Duck) and Whitehurst.

Why would BE choose to go there?

Congrats to Elliot!

This is the scnario that most of us predicted.  Looks like Langsdorf hooked him up bigtime.

He'll probably get a chance to be the practice squad QB, and if one of the other QB's get's injured, he could be put on the roster.

My source is from the Horse's mouth.  I actually think it is a good situation for brett.  While they do have three qb's, i don't think a spot on the team is out of reach for him.  Rivers is, in my opinion, grossly over rated.  Whitehurst was a good collegiate passer, but i don't think he showed anything that makes me believe he's a lock for success in the league. I think it's just going to be whoever can make the neccessary adjustments the fastest.  Brett has just as good of tools as Whitehurst and we've all seen what feely's working with.  I'm excited to see how this works out. This is the chance that he was hoping for.

For those still up, Brett will be on KGW's Sports Extra at 11:30 tonight talking about his signing.

Orca Jr.

Thanks Sparky, I know i'll be tuning into that.  What a great day for Brett and the entire Wildcat Nation.

That was a good interview with Ron Pivo, and they showed some great clips.

The Chargers made a wise move.

Wecome back on Board Coco. we missed you.

Now that our man Brett is in the NFL, what are chances he would be sent on loan to a NFL Europe team for some extensive playing time?

Congrats to BE. I was hoping the Rams would sign him, but it looks like he is going to at least have a chance to show what he can do in SD. One of my old friends works for the Chargers front office, so I am going to drop him an email and see if he has any news.

Want to be made even more angry about the draft/or possibly glad that you follow d3? Go to Oregon live and read the article on Demtrius Williams. Ungrateful comes to mind.

Phillip Rivers being overrated or not really should not effect BE all that much. Rivers, overrated or not, is still going to get to start in the NFL. Whitehurst being possibly looked at as a WR or DB could play into BE's future though.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Congrats to BE he obviously deserves the free agent signing.  Spirit where did u hear that Whitehurst is being possibly looked at as a WR/DB?  He always play QB at Clemson and he runs a 4.7 40 yard dash!
I doubt if Langsdorf had anything to do with Brett being signed.  Has anybody heard about Allen?  I think Brett might get allocated to play in NFL Europe so he can show that he can play against better than Div III talent.  Has anybody heard about the QB/WR/RB situation for next season?  It looks like this senior class graduates a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball for the Cats.

swede: Unless Elliott is injured or turns out to be a complete bust, his chances of going to NFLE are good.

I was wrong on the WR/DB. Sorry for the confusion. I forgot that Whitehurst is in fact a big slow white guy. Maybe I was thinky of Woody Dantzler. But, I do think that Langsdorf might have had something to do with BE's signing. More power to him. He is naturally going to be more aware of the goings-on at Linfield than most other coaches in the nfl. I am excited for BE. I think given the right chance, that he will be a good nfl qb.

Wildcat 11 thanks for the update on the video.  Catdomealumni.com is fun to watch and it makes Linfield look like the greatest show on field turf in college.  I also like the Linfield Legends tape with the galloping ghost RB.  I always saw his name in the record books but never had the chance to see him play.  Can't wait to see what is next!
