Linfield Video Of The Week!!!

[/size]
***next week: 1992 Highlight Tape Opening: Part 3 of 4***

***Former 'Cat, Dan Kielty produced many great Linfield highlight tapes during the 90's but his best work might have been the opening of the 1992 season highlight tape.  The 1992 Wildcat team put together one of the greatest seasons ever for a Wildcat team that culminated in a NAIA title game appearance where the 'Cats fell to Findley, Oh.

Dan chronicles the season in a 20 minute opening segment with game clips of each contest.  Catdomealumni.com will bring you the final clips over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the love, Johnnie Red!

That's one of the few posts of yours that doesn't talk about hamburger, SJU's record against Linfield, your social schedule, or the governor's wife being a Bethel graduate. You DO have other interests!

Congratulations to the Lady Wildcats!

Thanks again to Wildcat11!

This week's video had some educational tidbits for our DIII friends around the nation:

You get to hear Ed Langsdorf's voice-over before he comes on screen (Oregon Institute of Technology game)
   (News Register Oct 15, 2005)
"LINFIELD'S winning tradition continued under Ed Langsdorf during his brief stint as head coach in 1992 through 1995. Langsdorf coached the wide receivers for 12 years prior to taking the reins as head coach."
http://www.newsregister.com/news/results.cfm?story_no=199711
In a very unusual move Ed gave up the head position and returned to being an assistant for Jay Locey. He is probably responsible for getting Brett Elliott to the Chargers.
The OIT game showed the silhouette of the Cascade Mountains near Klamath Falls, OR, and that 40-45 degree volcano angle. The mountains in the LINFIELD home games are the coastal range of Oregon.
By now every knowledgeable person who has viewed the videos can see the Catdome is typical of the style of stadium cover in the Northwest whether it's county fair or football.
Keep up the good work.

Have you guys heard Gnarls Barkely "Crazy"? It reminds me of the 'cats.

Here is a link to pictures from the Charger's rookie orientation. Mr. Elliott's back (red jersey) in this pic is as good as it gets. I also e-mailed the Chargers about the Tiger thing. They didn't respond.

Actually, he retired from the Patriots. He hasn't been with the Chargers for a year. Maybe two.
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

This is sooo exciting!!   Congrats to Brett, Linfield fans and to all of us who are fans of D-3 football!!  I know he will make us all proud.  Hell, he already has!!  It only took one game  for me to become a huge fan and I am looking forward to seeing him play again on  Sundays!!

Interesting few days here on the board.....

As far as looking forward to Brett Elliott playing on Sunday this fall....well, I'm all for the idea.   But realistically, its' sounds like a little kid asking for a pony for Christmas and hoping that it magically appears under the tree.    The Chargers are carrying four quarterbacks.....two veterans, a third round pick and our favorite guy.   They are not going to suit up four QB's on Sunday afternoon.   A more realistic and yet optimistic approach might be for Brett to get to the end of training camp, pass through waivers and get on the practice squad and get a chance to play in NFL Europe next spring.

And the thought that Casey Allen's "character" might rub off on Onterrio Smith.    Several years ago, I used to encounter Blazer fans who thought that Rasheed Wallace was maturing because his technical fouls were down....or that maybe Isaiah Rider was maturing because he hadn't said on done anything stupid for a month or so.    It seems to be asking a lot of an environmental studies major like Casey to do what psychiatrists and other professionals haven't been able to do.......reform reprobate teammates.

d-train

Allen will have limited time in which to reform Smith. Onterrio's suspension is lifted in October, and he plans to return to the NFL quickly thereafter. As he told the St. Paul paper: "I produce a talent that's pretty rare."

::) Give me a break.

Foss

I remember when he was first drafted he made the statement: "I am the steal of this draft."

Yeah, if he was referring to the player most likely to receive the MVP for creativity in trying to pass drug tests.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

rbaikie

I wonder how Winnipeg structured Smith's contract - their season ends on October 28th - It would be tough for a team if he makes an impact and then leaves before the playoffs and Grey Cup (if they do well).

Never meant to imply that he would somehow, "magically," become the starting QB for the Chargers this fall! In fact, I never mentioned anything about "this fall."!!  But he is in the camp and with his talent and perserverence, he certainly has a chance to play in the  NFL one day even if it is as a back-up down the road and even if it has to start with  NFL-Europe.  SOOO.... I am still looking forward to seeing him play again one day.  Preferably on a Sunday!!!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!
