Hey, Tuxguy!!  As it stands right now, the road for both the Cats and the Johnnies runs through Whitewater!!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

footballfan413,
I know, and rightly so.( dang that was a great game) But the Cats, at this point, still have the higher ranking over the johnnies ;D. Who knows come sept. I was just having some fun with Touchdown Tommy. Those who know him, know he wont pass up a dig if he can get one in. ;)

TDT, by the way....bluenote is saving up for the season, spoke with him just last week.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!

Got it!!  Lord knows, the Johnnies don't seem to like to travel!!!   LOL!!   ;) ;)

That Findlay game was interesting and very frustrating. I sensed at the time that very few people not intimately involved with the team thought the 'cats could lose. Before the 'net it was obvioulsy a lot harder to get good info. on teams, and after the destruction of Minot and the vanquishing of plu, the stars seemed to be aligned.

Linfield then took the opening kick-off and drove the field for a touchdown and the party looked to be on, and then something terrible happened on the way to the championship. It was one of those games where Linfield got behind, made too many mistakes, and all hope seemed lost. Then, it turned out that if they had eliminated a few to's and penalties, they may have been able to make it back.

The reason Linfield ran a lot of sweeps was because they ran a lot of option. McGarvy is an all-time great and has anyone noticed Jim Good's blazing speed on the video's? That cut-back versus plu in the playoffs was amazing.

I referenced this earlier, but Findlay had a rb who was simply big and fat. But he was also strong and deceptively quick-footed. The rumor started floating through the crowd that he ate 3 dozen doughnuts on the flight from Ohio. Some rumors are based on truth....Anyway, he killed the 'cat D.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Anyone here old enough to remember that AMAZING comeback in the 1984 Championship game against Northwestern?  Down 22-0 in the 4th the Wildcats scored 33 unanswered points to claim the title at Mac High.  Now that was a game!  I think from the amazing run that Linfield, and PLU, made in the 80's and early 90's that we were invicible.  I get the feeling that a lot of people felt the same way last season.

Well now, thank-you brothers.  I get a little flavor from your posts.
footballfan413 I applauded you because Whitewater also is a fact.

fbgcat,
Did you play Qb for the Cats a few moons ago? If so email me and I will let you know who I am, some good stories! ;D

I remember the Northwestern game well, when they first took the field,  I thought they were the St Louis Cardinals. They were very big. As I remember, even down 22-0, not one fan left that game.

It's an even year fans....'82...'84...'86...'04...'06?

GHC....Good to hear from you, hope all is well. How your BB team do this year?

I used to watch the video of the game over and over when i was a kid, which leads me to say, I do not think they were down 22-0 in the 4th. I think the 'cats scored in the 3rd quarter of that game. Never the less, for those of us that were there, it was unforgettable. Does anyone remember for sure? I know that LBC does. 11 may also know.

86,
happy to help, with 3:02 to play in the 3rd, john gray hit a 27 yrd field goal. The Cats scored 33 unanswered pts. in 17 minutes to win the game. David Lindley threw 2 td's & 2-two-point conversions to ignite the Wildcats.( taken from the '84 souvenir program). Didn't want you to think I pulled that from this old memory bank. ;)

Some more tid-bits about the '84 game and year.

the Cats easily could have been .500 that year instead of 12-0.
Lin 30- ups 24
Lin 14- sou 12
Lin 10-  oit 7
Lin 2-  Pacific 0 (yep the boxers)

It was one of those years that guys stepped up and played over their heads like true Wildcats do. I also think that the Master ( Ad ) had something to do with it, "this has been a very special football team" coach Ad Rutschman.

That's Coach Rutschman -- Master of the understatement.

Are any of you guys going to the luncheon on Saturday?

I remember that 1984 game, too, and it was one heck of a comeback! You can never count the Wildcats out.
Two words:  THE STREAK

fbgcat

That Pacific game was a mess.  Rain coming down sideways.  Mud up to your ankles.  Whichever team had the wind at their back could actually move the ball.  Going into the wind was not possible.  Hodge had the "longest punt ever" in that game.  The way I remember is he was standing on the 10 or 15 and it went all the way to Pacific's two yard line.  The next play was the only score of the game.  You are right, Tux.  It takes a special team that can squeek by probably the worst team in the league and keep it all together for a National title.  The week after Pacific we were down at half to Lewis and Clark.  Coach Rutschman had a way of bringing out the best in his athletes.

No, Tux, I wasn't a QB.  I was just a lowly freshman receiver/kicker on the '84 squad.  Still good memories, though.

Appears like the Casey Allen supporters are beginning to cast their votes!!!!Casey now has 119 votes and has moved into third place.  For those who want to support a Wildcat you too can vote at www.bluebombers.com.  Thanks to Cam Cat for letting us in on the voting going on up North!  I bet the locals didn't realize there were so many followers of the Blue Bombers!!!
