Boy, these rumors are just getting too crazy....

The latest I heard was that Jerry Pettibone was interested....but he wouldn't come along unless Jimmy Anderson would be hired to be part of Larry Doty's staff on the basketball team....a package deal of sorts....

Really think about it.....OSU takes one our legends and Linfield retaliates by taking two of theirs.... ;) ;) ;) ;)

Wildcat'64

Desert Cat,

Good to hear from you!  We've missed your participation and the new season is coming fast.

With your direct "insight", I thought you might have a prediction or two as to what might transpire with the coaching transistion.

That would be an excellent deal for Linfield. I know that pettibone (offensive genius) is generally sought out whenever there is a major coaching vacancy.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

I've heard that a three to four team coaching trade is in the works. McCord and Speckman will be in place in McMinnville by August (think Fly with a 3-4 defense). Joe Smith in Salem with Lil' Speck and Ardel Bailey. Hire will join S.Westy in Parkland (he has always wanted to be a Lute deep down). Kirk Westre from Whitworth might also get involved (perhaps joining Frosty and Gig Harbor Cat at UPS). Lewis & Clark will make a run at Locey once Riley's crew gets the axe at OSU and Menlo has their sights set on Wildcat11 (with the Mrs. to coach hoops). It's going to be a crazy couple of months.  :D

d-train...I heard the same rumor....seems as though McCord was in McMinnville as early as last December being friendly with Linfield athletic department officials and promising not to eat too much of the halftime pizza in the pressbox during the NCAA playoffs!! :o

I sort of dismissed the whole thing due to NWC salary cap considerations....Speckman makes a lot of money down at Willamette and the Bearcat administration is hesitant to eating some of that in the proposed trade.

Stay tuned.......  :-X

Locey might actually be a better coach than Riley and be able to bring something to get over the mediocre hump.  He's a winner and will do a great job.  Like others have said, if this doesn't work out to be long term he'll surely land on his feet elsewhere.

Commenting from the outside,  isn't Locey going to be doing the teaching/coaching and skill development?  Won't he know the players better and should be able to develop talent better?

I have always thought of D1 head football coaches to be ultimate fundraiser/schmoozer/CEO/adminstrator/manager types.  Locey's success may be measured in how many All-PAC 10's and pro draftees he develops. :)

Salary cap considerations? Not an issue. The Catdome expansion might get put on the back burner for a few years...and Title IX might rear its ugly head...but Linfield's got more than enough money to hire both McCord and Speckman and pay the luxury tax to boot. Especially now that Paul Allen will be able to cut his losses with the Blazers and begin donating again. The '07 Escalade, Michelbook membership, and condo at Depot Bay will seal the deal for Craig. Mark might be a bit harder to land, but 7 figures are always better than 6.  ;D

Good Luck to Locey at OSU - at least I'll get to see him vs. Boise State this year...

Rumor mill about Albertson football cranking up again...word is a couple of big donors are wanting to drop some coin in the football bucket...

January 2007 will be when discussion on it comes up...if NCAA lifts its moratorium on new members (especially for the West Coast), expect Albertson to quickly make the jump to the NWC and start FB by 2009...

We'll see...maybe we can trade some potatoes for Wildcat11, D-Train, and McCord

Thanks for the update, coyote. Anyone heard what's going on at Pacific?

Just curious, but what are the planned [desired/wish list] renovations for the CatDome?  I thought Linfield just updated it within recent years.

formerd3db......the plan is to upgrade the stadium, getting rid of the posts would be a nice step. not sure what else.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I'm not really the guy to answer this, but one of the Linfield guys can jump in. They've done the fieldturf, press/coaches boxes, and scoreboard but are also kicking around the idea of an additional building (weights, maybe?) adjacent to the existing grandstand. It was rumored that it would include additional seating and possibly even some type of box suites. From my limited experience, Linfield games are always a standing-room only event. They could fill a lot more seats if they had 'em.

Speaking of Linfield football games, does anyone know when season tickets become available?

funny that you mention Menlo -

Would Mrs Wildcat11 coach a men's team? Recent report out of Atherton is that Coach Nosek has left to go back to be an assistant at UC-Davis (He played and helped coach therre when they wer D-12, now that they are D-1 he's going back).

Women's hoops is covered as the AD is their coach.

About Albertson's - would the NWC want another football only member and would they want to go D3?

Being NAIA might suit them better - kind of like Carroll in Montana - also might be an easier road to prominence in the NAIA as they have provisions for independent teams in the playoffs, based on their rankings.

Just a thought.
