That's because you're trying to project pro potential from Division III stats. It doesn't work that way.

There is one stat that transcends all levels.  40 times and if I am not mistaken, it was posted on here that Casey ran around a  4.9.   Atleast that is what I remember being written on here once awhile ago.  (I could have that wrong so someone who knows, please correct me if I am)   It could have also been one bad time for him and not an accurate measure of his speed but after I read that,  I remember wishing him well but thinking that a 4.9 WR will not make it in post colligiant play. It seems to me that deciding who is good enough to play after college is no different than deciding who plays after high school. The stats that really matter are the personal ones.  Height , weight, bench, squat, shuttle time, 40 time, ect......Bottom line, they don't care who caught more TD passes, just who is bigger, stronger, faster.....

So sorry about his being cut and the news about your coach, guys.  You were blessed to have a coach of his calliber for all these years.  A foundation of excellence like that will not go away.  I'm sure whoever takes over will be able to continue  the Cats successful ways!

I of course wish Coach Locey and Coach Riley well.

The facts are OSU has had 7 head coaching changes since 1975, Dee Andros' last year.     Average 4.3 years per coach.

I repeat Division I is brutal, especially on the Oregon States of the world.     Competing against USC, UCLA, Washington and the others, year in and year out, is daunting.     The competition in the PAC 10 is a little rougher.

REPEAT:   I wish Coach Locey well.   Thank you sincerely for a lifetime of good Linfield memories.

I think that osu should be more concerned competing with the ducks than the huskies.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

formerd3db......the plan is to upgrade the stadium, getting rid of the posts would be a nice step. not sure what else.

PLEASE tell me one of the rennovations planned is to get rid of those stupid bleachers they have now and to add a little space between when they replace them so I don't have to sit with my knees in my chin any more!

Casey ran a 4.58 at Linfield the day Elliott ran his 5.00, so he has decent speed for a big guy. (I believe he ran a 4.62 at Portland State.) I think his toughest obstacle was the Import players the Bombers have at the receiver position. There's Stegall, probably the most prolific receiver in CFL history; then the other four still on the roster all have some sort of NFL experience. With the team probably just keeping three or four imports at receiver, it looks like one or two more quality players will get cut by Saturday. Still, it was interesting to note the Winnipeg newspaper making mention of three catchable balls that were dropped by Bombers receivers in their loss to Montreal on Thursday.

As far as the renovations on the 'dome are concerned, there are some pretty big plans in the works.  Initially it was going to be a three phase project I believe.  The renovation of the field itself was the first phase.  The next to consist of adding a second level to the stadium (yes, i'm very serious) making it the only multi-level d3 stadium in the nation.  The other phase is the addition of a football/sports building in the grass area next to the stadium.  It would be multi level with football offices, a weight room overlooking the field, and i'm not positive what would take up the rest of the room.  Things could have changed, but that was the plan in the recent past.

Mr. Orca Jr.  you have many of us eating out of your hand wanting to know as much about this as you can tell us.  This is very exciting.  I call you "Mr." because any guy who can match each post with equivalent karma deserves and gets my respect.  If you keep this up will you be the first guy ever to get karma powers with the all time record for + karma simultaneously.

All this excitement means one thing for sure, Lots of $$$$$ which means that us sales guys had best keep making our sales calls to help pay for all this.

Anyone who wants to make sure that I pay my fair share, can call me anytime to place their order,  ;) for what, you ask?  Tell me what you want and let's see if I can find a way to get paid to sell it to you? :)

OK.  That makes more sense.  Thanks for the info.  I remember thinking when it was posted that he ran a 4.9 that it didn't make much sense to me.  Afterall, he seemed to have no trouble outrunning some of  UWW's D-Backs when I saw him play.  ;) ;) ;)

Thanks all for the follow-up re: proposed/desired Linfield stadium complex improvements.  I hope those eventually come to fruition.  Sounds like a nice addition.

Dr. Sparky

As part of the renovation can we get rid of the old guy that sits in seat #2 from the aisle and grouses everytime he has to stand up so you can get to/from your seat yet won't trade you reserved seat assignments in the off season?

Oh, wait, was that my out loud voice?

Tuxguy

Dr. Sparky,
I'm sorry to hear you talk about bluenote that way!  ;)I'm 2 rows behind him on the aisle, I'll see what i can do. ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

According to a poster over on the Wisconsin board the Lindy's Pre Season poll is out.......According to Lindy's the West Region is "loaded" again this season!  Mt. Union claims the top as suspected.  #2 - Wisconsin-Whitewater, #4 - St. Johns, #8-Linfield, #12 - Central, #17 - Occidental, #18 - North Central, #22- Concordia-Moorhead!

Now let's play a season and see how things stack up in December!

"64, Please tell me, to come up with pre season polls do they just pull names and #s out of a hat or do they use a dart board? ???

Well we know that Whitewater is going to be tough with that Beaver guy back again, and still only a Jr.
