If numbers on the AA squad count, appears that the ASC has the most football talent nationally, and Willamette, Whitworth, and Linfield are equally the teams to beat in the NWC.   :)

Ever the hopeful Bearkitty fan aren' t you River? ;)

Pirate Pride

Long time follower of the board, have posted once two years ago to try and figure out the playing surfaces of Redlands and LaVerne when I was playing ball at Whitworth.  I really have felt that there was a lack of Pirate posters on here and felt like I could add some insight and opinions to a hugely dominated board by sometimes biased linfield fans (who I respect completely).  Mr. Coleman, I wanted to let you know that the previous poster that was also a Whitworth fan wasn't trying to pull any fast ones, and is a friend of mine, he may have made a mistake with his e-mail address.  I am a huge d3 football fan since it has been a part of my life the last 5 years.  I too want to congratulate Mike Allan (Lurch) and Ryan Marshall for their pre-season awards.  I'd like to make my first "take"  on something that has been talked about on here recently (the Benzel comments).  I am sure that because he is at Linfield he is a great player, one thing that hasn't been looked at are the Receivers (who I'm sure are some of the best in the leauge).  However, I don't think you can compare these guys to the players you have had the last few years in Carter, McKecknie, Hazenburg, and Allan.  Their size/strength/speed combination is a rarity amongst D-III athletes and I beleive that should take a toll on some of the numbers that will be put up by Benzel.  I just don't think you should be making any comparisons with Mathews and especially Elliott until he's started about 3 games.  I am looking forward to a great year in the NWC and always hope for success of all teams (until they play the BUCS ofcourse) so we can actually get some respect over here on the West Coast.

By the way...that cooney play brings back some uhhh great memories.  I was a red-shirt frosh cold/soaking wet on the sidelines as that play happened.  What I also remember is that I think he made a huge drop/mistake earlier and was able to rebound and make a play like that, pretty incredible.

I just read the game story from that 2001 Whitworth game.  Linfield intercepted Whitworth quarterback Scott Biglin four times.....what memories! :D

Poor Scott Biglin.  I'm sure he is a great guy but the unforgottable AB has forever marked him among NWC posters.

WaCat

Biglin is a great guy and he and I have had some great laughs concerning what his brother used to post.  Scott and I coach together at my former high school and he is a wealth of knowledge, his brother was just acting out of instinct and trying to back his bro up.....to bad he had no clue how to do so.

BTW he remembers that four pick game like it was yesterday and everyother time he got hit in the mouth or threw a pick against the Cats.  Funny to listen to what he has to say now a days about the Cat D.  He never could figure them out and last year we caught a game together at the CatDome and couldnt do so then either!!

Great guy with a terrible record against the Cats!!

Touchdown Tommy

I hear the Johnnies have a pretty good record against the Cats.  GHC or 11 can you help me out on this??

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

River,
I agree with your assessment as to the Top 3 in the NWC this year.
We will welcome both the Rats and the Bearkitties to the Catdome this fall....should be a rockin' 5,000 fans for those two games!
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Cooney did blow a huge play a series or two before. I believe it was tied with about 5 minutes left.  He had 3 or 4 steps on the corner and Mathews layed the ball right in his hands in stride and he just dropped it right in front our bench.  But as the cats always do, he regrouped and made the most of his next opportunity. Everyone on the sidelines was screaming at him to stop running backwards and giving up yards. Then he broke it open. I love seeing Bertsch(42) bury some poor guy at the end of that play.

OXY Oswald

I was watching a few of the highlights on the catdomealumni site and was wondering when Linfield got their field turf?  2001?

And that really was a heartbreaker against Central - who cuts up all that film for the site?  They do a great job.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Cut City

This will be the 3rd season on the new turf. The first edit is often done by Jackson Vaughan I believe. But depending on the load, it can be passed on to various assistant coaches.  I'm not sure how much wildcat11 edits.

When you talk about Scott B. you wouldn't believe the stats he was able to put up across his career (come from behind games, passing yards, td's.).  But for what ever reason he couldn't put it together against Linfield.  That year he threw 4 picks or whatever, he still was league mvp (imagine his stats without those 4 picks, if he would have just kept up with his average).  Even if they were memories to be forgotten, the 2 funniest/just plain crude comments I have ever seen on this board came from that season in which someone said that Scott tried to kill himself after the game but the bullets from the gun he shot were intercepted by a linfield db (something close to that) and when we missed the EP against PLU in overtime "Paul Alejo tried to hang himself last night, but missed the chair from underneath him when he tried to kick it"  Whoever wrote those...i have to admit i even chuckled even in the bad mood i was in, but i still hope you said about 50 hail mary's afterwards.

incase anyone didn't know...EP is my new abbreviation for PAT.
