Since most things have been gone over by now, and I did not see the game in person, I will keep my comments brief.

The game was a disappointment, but hardly a reason to question the Linfield program, the goals of the season, or the skill of certain players. Things are going to go well this season, but it appears the 'cats will be taking a different path to get there.

Bring on hsu, I am eager/excited to get down to Texas!

Not to pile on, but I just cannot accept that the Linfield players appeared like they didn't care and that they were busy making dinner plans. That is pretty stupid.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

This weeks game preview is up.

I've heard some good things about Drew Ragan at RB.  What did those of you who made it think?

wyd--thanks for the response. I had to look 2-3 pages back to find it, but at least there's one PLU poster.

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

The word is the locker room right now to "improve fundalmentals." You block your man (zone) consistently, you win. You tackle your man consistently, you win. The team that doesn't  block or tackle very well, 99% of the losses. Coaches and players alike know that.

By the way, how did your work week go last week? Bet you aren't sitting on  your a** if you were unproductive! Your wife won't let you. (ha ha)

I would llike to watch practice this week, but unfortunately do not live anywhere near Mac. You'll see some much enthusiasm and pride showing from these kids because they know they're better than a 28-14 loss to WOU.

Right now I would hate to be Hardin Simmons! What will show up in Abilene? Will they play a softcat or a Wildcat?

Sorry about the typo errors. It should read, "99% of the time" and "word in the locker..." The distance between my brain and my fingers on the keyboard is my age divided by my college 40 yard sprint time.

By the way, props to the Loggers. It wasn't that long ago UPS was on a 1-27 skid. I mean, we were talking Lewis & Clark caliber material. Since then, they've gone 12-10. I don't care who they're playing to get some of those wins, that is just an unbelievable turnaround for any program.

Also - very nice, decisive 28-3 win for Whitworth on the road against Redlands. The Pirates are now ranked in the top 20 and off to a solid start this season.

Thanks for the support, Foss. It's understandable if you question the wins, but with the performance of some of the league teams this year, I would expect a much better conference record for the Loggers this season.

Whitworth is gonna be tough, this year, for sure.

ClassicCat

Whitworth is the real deal this year. They should be able to address some of their old demons with success. I'm not a Rat backer, but I hear on TV they're offensively talented and defensively quick and swarm the football. What elsse can you ask for? When I saw their coach being interviewed, he had a sh*t-eatin grin.

We'll see come October.

hatchetman75 - you bet, I'm happy to see the Loggers doing better. Just so you know I wasn't personally questioning some of their wins, that part of my post was more in response to a few posts I've seen in the past regarding the quality of some of the Logger wins. In my opinion, when a team goes from 1-27 to 12-10, more attention should be on the fact they are doing much better and the program is improving.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

They're not out there working, sweating, etc. to satisfy that small group of fans/experts who expect excellence 150% of the time while they are tailgating getting stupid on "longies".

How about satisfying former players who worked, sweated and would have thrown themselves under a bus for the LINFIELD "thing" if circumstances called ?

Anyone else find this amusing?

Drew Ragan LB/RB 5-11 210 Jr./ Jr.

Not a very usual combination to be listed this point in the season.

Orca Jr.

Rock,
Oh man I'm glad I didn't see Ragen run the ball more, cuz everytime he did I got these intense Deja Vu flashbacks of David Russell running the ball.  Actually, I wish he got about 15-20 carries.  Drew didn't do anything amazing, but his size and speed were on display and I think he can be a D-Russ type runner very, very soon.  From what I saw, I would say teach him the offense ASAP and make him the starter.
There's nothing like being a wildcat.  Some say they understand, but until you've lived it, you have no idea.

Too true.

Talked to my father-in-law, a former cat and HS head coach, and he's feeling a bit better about the game but he said the same thing Classic Cat did about blocking and tackling. That's got to be improved.

Didn't the Cats go through a spat of a game or two early in the season about three or four years ago when the D was porous and had a real hard time tackling?  As I recall, in addition to better tackling fundamentals, they got that corrected by staying in their lanes and learning to rely on their fellow D to help tackle. That and not trying to tackle so higHopefully, as the team gains confidence in each other and the coaches' scheme, they'll get that corrected too.
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

So somebody did read my posts. +karma to you always. Did you also read my posts that Travis Masters will be one of the leading kick returners in the country?

cawcdad

I read your prediction swede! Loved it! I also said a while back that I was glad Masters was back because he was so exciting to watch returning kicks! ;D

Lets go Cats and ambush some Cowboys!!!
