According to GameTracker the Cats won the game -- at least as far as the Stats go....too bad the score didn't show how good of a game the Cats really played---the Cowboys took advantage of the breaks and that is the sign of a good team

The Cats have made a tremendous improvement in one week!
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Sounds like a different team than last week. Cats played their hearts out and will be even more improved for Homecomming. 'Cats may drop some more in the polls but thats okay, we all know it's the final one that counts.  Lets hope the 'rats can win the remainder of their games and come to catland ranked in the top ten. 'cats go undefeated the remainder of the year, win the NWC and advance to the playoffs. Who know's, we may get a second chance at the cowboys.

Congrats to the cowboys and hope you win your league title.

what is going on? we act as if this is ok, as for me, i expect more from the cats and their coaching staff. i hope they turn it around soon. the time is now, get sharp and execute.

i hope that the cats start to dominate, and get on the right track. or we may be looking for a new head coach. too much is on the line, too many players that gave it up for the cats to be in this position at this time.

O.K.

My thoughts on the game, but first to LnD's comments:  I don't think anybody is "O.K." with the Cat's loss but after last weeks' performance by the team and the negativity on this board I think we're all trying to focus on the positives and there are some this week.  Our offense moved the ball well but not consistently.  Our Defense hung tough most of the game as well but gave up some big plays and failed to hold the Cowboys on some key 3rd down plays which allowed HSU to continue drives.

Anyway, I've looked at the game stats and I'd love to use the cliche that the difference in the game was turnovers but it was definitely not.  The turnover magin was even and two of HSU's were turnovers within the Cat's 10 yd line.  No, here was the big differnce in the game tonight:

                                           CATS                         COWBOYS
Fourth-Down Conversions  0 of 3                        0 of 0
Red-Zone Scores-Chances  0-2                            2-5

Prety much says it all
Go Cats!

much improved?? I don't know about that.

I'm sitting in a hotel room in Abilene trying to firgure out how we turn this thing around.  Sure we got more yards, but what does that matter when we can't score.  2 TDs in 2 games????  Absolutely terrible.

Defense played their butts off.....3 turnovers in the red zone.

Play calling very questionable.......running a reverse on 4th and 3 inside the HSU 20 when we could have gotten some much needed pts on the board.

Scherrer (sp?) needs to be the QB. he's taller and throws a better ball.  We have 0 playmakers on offense right now.

Let's get it figured out in 2 weeks

Well, it was a tough game. The defense played well, but the offense left plenty to be desired. It doesn't help when the the play calling is completely ridiculous- going for it on 4th and 3 down 7-0 with a 25 mph wind at your back??? And then you run a long-taking stupid running play? The game was not nearly as close as you might think. Benzel must go.

Just my opinion though. I was at the game, but I am sure that somehow my observations are wrong.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Wow, my Knights (high school team) and the Cats are both off to 0-2 starts.

I have now attended all 3 of Menlo's games this year (coach asked me if I was going to be scouting all of their games for Linfield ;D ) and if it wasn't for 2 special teams plays against SOU they would be 3 - 0. The defense finally gave up its first TD of the season with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Chapman seemed to find a chink in the Menlo armor that I had suspected might be there and that is that the Oaks can be passed on. Good news for Whitworth. The Menlo rushing D seems pretty stout which doesn't bode well for Willamette and UPS. We will see what happens next week. For those interested, click here, for some pictures I took of the game. I apologoze in advance for the funny orange on the side of some of the photos. There must have been a light leak or bad film on one roll. Yeah, I still use film as well as digital.

Let's use the next two weeks for the Cats to get healthy and run the table on the rest of the season.

coco

Great job, 'Cats.
The coaches knew what to work on and obviously the players worked hard this week. I didn't see the game like some of you did, but from what I heard on the radio and the stats, we're on track now, and ready to plow through the NWC. It sounded like guys played a heck of a game against a tough team, and did it without four of our starters.

OldCatProf, would your last name start with a J? Or a B?

Safe travels home.

andy j:

first, i said that this coaching change was a mistake a long time ago. i thought that he was too young and so is most of his staff. i would not have set the cats coaching staff up this way.

second, if you don't know who i am, thats your fault. i'm not hiding behind this handle. you can find out who i am if you want to.

third,i'll be at the hall of fame game and we can talk about me being a "punk". (if you knew me then you would know that i have been called way worse, so thats cool. as for your tone, thats another story)
