coco,

Not sure?  ???
Just didn't want to ruffle any feathers.   ;)

At least I didn't use Zebra or stripes.  ;)  ;)

Mr. Mellow Tuxguy saying good day all!  :D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Got it, and back at you, buddy.
Two words:  THE STREAK

To my beloved Linfield fans,
I was kicked off post patterns for a day for inciting a border war.

Anyway, I do hope that Linfield does run the table.  A potential rematch could be sweet revenge.  Besides, it will be on our turf this time!!! :o

Looks like bad news for the Butcher :-\

I didn't even know he was cut. Any word where he'll end up next?

KR, Elliott was cut the day after the last preseason game with the Niners and then signed to the practice squad the next day. I find it interesting that Volek didn't want to be #3 with the Ravens and that may be where he would wind up at SD.

hsu fan: "You're from Oregon? I thought you guys were from Maine. Wow- it must be snowing a ton at your house".
Me: "Snowing in Oregon? I live in Saint Louis, but I think it is in the mid-70's in Portland."
hsu fan: "Nope. Sorry to tell you, but I saw the news this morning and it is snowing tons in Montana."
me: "Montana is not really very close to Oregon. AT least not close enough to share weather."
hsu fan: "yes it is. I saw it on the news. Snowing in Montana."
me: "Whatever."
Had to laugh when I read that! :) :) :)  First let me stipulate that I was born in Oregon, my early years spent growing up in Dana Hall across from Maxwell Field and later graduated from Linfield.  But... I did live in TX and am an adoptedTexan (in their eyes anyway - my daughter was born there).

Anyway, that is a classic example of what most Texans think of anyone from "out west" (west of the Rio Grande that is).  When told I was from "Orygone" they thought I still traveled in a covered wagon and had an outhouse in the backyard.  Considering the size of the Lone Star State, in their minds McMinnville really isn't that far from Missoula. ;D

Seriously, congrats to HSU on a quality win against a proven winning program.  Can't wait to see you'll next year.  We'll give you a real "Orygone" & Wildcat welcome; covered wagons, outhouses & all.  Guaranteed snow too - snowing purple frisbee that is. ;)

pineconefan,

Hopefully more Whitworth fans will join the board. I know it's probably kind of intimidating with all the 'Cat posters, but we're not so bad, really.

We are much easier to deal with while we are spending much time these days eating humble pie.  I don't care for the taste of it personally but it may be on our menu for awhile.

I was at the Duck-Sooner game and the refs were really bad as everyone has heard, but, there were three bad calls against the Duck's that no one has talked about.  Two delay of game penalties that were not called in crucial situations, and an offensive pass interference that shoulda been called on a sooner TD.

Yes, that tipped ball that was called PI on the sooners was brutal, but the onside kick was tough to tell.  I watched the replay a bunch and Patrick Chung for the Ducks comes down with the ball for a split second, then he hits the ground and the ball squirted out.  Then #23 picks it up and walks away from the pile.

Do I think Oklahoma should have been rewarded the ball,?  I think so.

But that doesn't take away the fact that the Duck's never quit, they never gave up, even when they were down 13.  Loudest and best football game I've ever been to.

Talked to quite a few Oklahoma fans after the game and they said that they had been to much larger stadiums then Oregon's but never to a stadium that loud :o  They also said that Oregon's fans were the most gracious they had ever played against.

This last comment doesn't suprise me.  Had a conversation with some UWW fans just the other day about how welcoming and hospitable not only the Cats fans were but Oregon people in general during their visit last year to see, "theee game!"

I can give a little insight into a Texans' view of the world.  I am a Pacific Northwesterner, born in WA but OR is my home.  I am married to a Texas A&M Aggie and have lived here for the past 7 years.  Did you know that Texas is the only state that is allowed to fly their flag even with the US flag?  Because they were once a Republic, or their own country as some think.  Many Texans come off as being arrogant.  It's not really arrogance, rather it is a huge pride in their state.  All Texas school children say the Texas State Pledge after the US Pledge of Allegeance.  There's a lot of pride in Texas and a lot of old school customs.

BTW- You owe it to yourself to go to a Texas A&M football game at least once.  Talk about tradition (whether their football team is winning or not).

As I read some of the Linfield posts I was shocked to hear them complain at all about offical's calls.  Considering what happened at the Oregon--Okla game, no one in the state can say anything about horrible calls this year.

The officials blew some calls both ways. Against Oregon in the first half and for them in the 2nd.

Regardless, the win for Oregon can't be completely blamed on the officials. After all, it wasn't the refs who wasted all three time outs in the 2nd half, leaving OK with none on their final drive and it wasn't the refs who blocked the kick. But it is always unfortunate that the refs have such a heavy hand in any game.

I suspect this may have been a result of the NCAA's policy against discriminating against anyone who has a physical handicap. Even so, you would think they could find a better job for someone with a vision impairment than for them to be manning the replay booth.
:P  ::)

I am an Oregon fan, but I really cannot agree that the on-side kick was so cut and dry. In my mind, I can see how the refs would have awarded the ball to the ducks. Since the UO players touch is while he is in mid-air and moving forward, it is not easy to tell for sure.

I forgot- Congrats to hsu. The cowboys played very hard and deserved to win. i wish them the best of luck the rest of the season and hope they go undefeated.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

O.K. No Wildcat Football this weekend but here are my takes on the NWC action:

Whitworth vs. UW-Stout:  Hard to call with both teams looking pretty good in early action.  UW-Stout has the homefield advantage but I've gotta pull for Whitworth and NWC-:  Gonna make it a close call but I give Whitworth the win on the road 28-24

Willamette at Menlo:  Gotta believe that Willamette just doesn't have much this year and Menlo has been playing good defense.  Look for a relatively low scoring game here with Menlo winning it 21-7.

Pacific Lutheran and Chapman:  Another hard to call but Chapman actually hung close with Menlo while PLU has not been blown away.  Somebody has to win this one and I'm gonna have go to with tradition over the homefield advantage.  PLU beats Chapman 24-21.

Claremont-Scripps at Puget Sound:  Puget Sound controls the clock and remains consistent and wins 28-7 in this one.

Lewis and Clark at Colorado College:  I'd love to pull for L&C here but these two teams have both played the same 2 oponents and in both cases Colorado has the statistical edge.  That coupled with homefield advantage gives CC the win 35-21

I think that's it for the NWC this week:  What do you think guys?

Go Cats!

MonroviaCat, I pretty much agree with your picks. Menlo may pitch a shutout though unless the Bearcats can gain some yards through the air. Menlo's run D is stiff.

The Chapman air game is not bad based on their first game of the season. Menlo sacked the Chapman QB 5 times and harassed him alot and he still threw for 191 yards. Too close to call on this one. The usual comment, it will depend on turnovers.

I do hope L&C can pull this one out, but doubt it.

Whit wins at home.

CMS can't score if they don't have the ball. Lee right. Lee left. Lee up the middle. UPS gets a W.

Just to clarify my stance on the calls made by the referee's in the U.O. vs O.U game.

I was just stating what was reported on MSN. I do however believe the onside kick was touched by the Duck before 10 yrds. though. And if the NCAA goes and looks at the 2 plays Coach Stoops is so upset about, than as others have said, their were other questionable calls in the game as well. So you need to review the whole game, start to finish.
Just my opinion.

MonroviaCat...cawcdad
I'll go...
Whitworth 24 -21 against the Wisconsin boys.  :o

I to must take Menlo 31-7, Menlo played good on defence last week and The fly seems a little tuff to run for a young Qb and team. Girl kicker is out with a hang nail!  ;D.............  Will we ever forget.................Nope!

As much as I want to go NWC here I'm going with Chapman 28-17 1st win for new head coach, and it's at home.  :)

UPS 24-10 over the Scripps, They pound out the yardage on the ground, eat up the Clock(works in this game but never against the Cats) with their big running back Rory Lee gaining over 150 yrds. and 2 td's!  :D

I'm going to pick L&C just for fun, The kids play hard for the New, young Head Coach and win a close score fest 44-37. Maybe!  ;)
