Warty,

Bob Sullivan was in our wedding, not Randy Marshall. Randy was drafted by Atlanta, then traded to Philadelphia, but had to quit because of his knees. He was a legend, especially off the field.

Hey, have an ear of that great Iowa corn on the cob for me!

The following was sent to me by another Wildcat.

Here's a story about the Someplace Else, and I'll refer to people by fake initials.

Four of us stopped in there coming back from the Newberg Drive-In one night. While S was buying a case of beer, K got right in between this rangy cowboy and his date/wife/girlfriend.

He turned his back to the dude and starts talking to the gal, who was as
flabbergasted as I was
The cowboy was a bit stunned for just a moment because his brain could not
believe what was going on. And then in a real live Clint Eastwood scene
K turns over his shoulder and says to the guy "What are you looking
at?"

My brain did a quick scan of the bar and I saw guys turning their pool
cues over about the same time O did. S looks up from counting his
change, quickly puts the case back on the bar with a "Oh, naw, naw, naw."

The gal tries to get in between and the owner tries refereeing but the two
were 4 inches apart at the nose.
Four or 5 of the cowboy's friends had a hold of him. S managed to get
his driver outside the bar.  I got the case. The barkeep hit all the
lights in the place. Only the neon was glowing.

Safe? That place then had a glass pane in the front door. K breaks away
from us, goes back up to the door, puts his hands under his arms and
starts making clucking sounds to any one who could see and hear him
inside. The cowboy could. He got the door open before his friends roped
him back into the tavern.

I always look at that place when I pass it and laugh inside.
Now that's not a football story, really, but it's part of Linfield lore.

Delta's - as was Mike Barrow.  In that era, the Delta's and the Theta Chi's were large fraternities....each having about 70-80 members.  About 24% of the male student body belonged to one of these two frats.

Since I lived in the Theta house, I am sure we have some interesting stories to share

Well, Scharer is tall. I like that in a qb.

Not me, I prefer 'em short 'n squatty. Under 3' is preferable.

::)

Now wouldn't THAT be a sight...

Have you checked the stats on the pios qb? That could be your big chance to see a mini-qb.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

coco,

That's good stuff. I remember you saying a little while back this story might be on its way. My favorite line is "And then in a real live Clint Eastwood scene
R turns over his shoulder and says to the guy "What are you looking
at?"

I got a good visual on that. It's like everyone else around can't believe it's happening and yet the person doing it (often hammered at the time) is like, "What? It's no big diggaty...."
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Saw this picture in the paper the other day of WOU's new mascot...pretty sharp!

O.K. since we are telling stories, I've got a Delta story.......

Many of you know my bro, Big "C". Well, I'm 10 years younger,  :o  so any way Big "C" takes me to the frat house one Sunday after Church ( of course ) to watch the NFL game of the week with the boys.

Now back than as '64, said not all Football players were Theta's like when I was there in the late 70's. So, were watching the game, I'm thinking this really cool hanging with these guys, plus they were really good to me.   :D

THAN, all of the sudden, a play at the end of the game goes the wrong way and this Mammoth of a guy gets up, picks up the console, (  small screen with a big cabinet) and proceeds to throw it through that  big picture window in the lounge. I thought to myself, When I grow up and come  to Linfield, I want to be a Delta!!!  8)

Well, things change, and so did the Delta's, besides,  by then, I was a" Townie"   ;)
                                                 BELIEVE!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

light n' darkness

i would tell some stories but i'm not sure what the statute of limitations is in oregon, so i'll have to pass for now.

but one things is for sure...... it is possible that it is WORM time!!!!!!!

since things are critical, the cats are 0-2, the 50 year thing is on the line, the cats need some inspiration.......

somebody call coach smith and tell him its time for the WORMS!!!!!!!!!

if you were there, you know what i am talking about..........

(what happens in the locker-room stays in the locker-room)
