Wow. I return from basically the end of the earth after a few months and find Linfield and PLU winless. And then UPS is undefeated. What's going on here? Sure it's not actually basketball season?

Seriously Penn...where'd you head off to? Montana? ;)

I've been all alone...glad someone else is around now.

I love this quote from the TNT:

"It's hard being a competitor and not be clicking on all cylinders," PLU senior fullback Craig Stahl said. "We're so close to putting it all together, and when we do, we'll be hard to beat. Some people (around school) are saying, 'UPS is 3-0 and you're 0-3 – what's going on?' -- we don't listen to that. None of the guys are down. We know we have a talented, special team."

It makes me giddy to think that even the PLU students are wondering what's going on with their team. It's like the way UPS used to be.  Poor Stahl.

Man I wish I had been in Montana all this time. I was fishing in Alaska with basically no contact with the outside world. They're still working on getting some phone lines up there. ;)

Now you know how I felt last year, after getting roughed up by the Linfield nation.

Kill a couple cases for me at the game tomorrow, since I assume you're gonna be there. Tell all the guys to have fun, and try not to get arrested.

Oh...don't go running across Tacoma either...don't want to hear about you ending up at the T-dome after the game again. :)

For those who didn't get a chance to catch the dramatic ending of the Whitworth-Stout radio broadcast, you can find the highlights here: http://www.whitworth.edu/Athletics/Teams/Football/Releases/2006/MultimediaHighlights.htm

Predictions for Saturday -

Willamette at Linfield - At least this one is somewhat interesting because the Bearcats beat Menlo.  But I still think that Linfield benefits from the week off and gets its act together.  Linfield 31, Willamette 10.

Pacific Lutheran at Puget Sound - PLU has a better offense than any team UPS has played so far.  But the Lute defense?  UPS is playing with more confidence than any team in recent memory.  UPS 24, PLU 21.

Azusa at Whitworth - APU has played a brutal schedule and they have never lost to an NWC team.  But those tired, sore bodies have to get on another flight for another tough game.  As long as Whitworth has moved past the Stout game, the Pirates will win.  Whitworth 28, Azusa 21.

Oh, you know that won't be a problem. I can't take any responsibility for those old O-linemen though.

Shoot, word got out about my adventures downtown last year a little too much. I'll try to avoid my Hilltop friends for the protection of others that are with me.

I'll be sure to drink one for ya and I'm sure all of us alums at the game will drink one for all those that couldn't attend.

As a newcomer to the board this season (from out of state), and not attuned to the customs of 'Cat-gating before the game, I want to be sure to meet up with some of you board regulars at Homecoming this Saturday. Will I find you guys hanging around the BWC area, or are there other areas that I need to be sure to check with?

Yea right, and I drive a dogsled to work every day  :).  You can slight the Lutes but picking Montana over Alaska? now you've insulted me  ;)

Were you up here fishing commercially or for sport?

What McMinnville restaurant has that good hamburger, The Deluxe?

Yeah, I was up there commercial fishing for halibut and black cod. Beautiful country, but I couldn't live there because of the remoteness. Sure Montana's remote too, but not as bad as compared to Alaska. Plus I'm more the "city" Montanan, being from Missoula. Nothing like living in a great college town like Missoula.

Thanks for the kind words and yes, I will be at the game. Bubba has a couple games at the High school starting at 10 in the morning. Bubba will be wearing red #32 if you happen to stop by.

Swedes predictions

Linfield over the Lizcats 35-17 in a game that will be decided before halftime.

PLU nips the loggers 27-24. The Lutes cut down their mistakes in this one and sends a message to the rest of the NWC.

Whitworth over Azuza Pacific 31-21. Could be the toughest game of the season for the 'rats, if so Whitworth showed last week they could pull out the close ones.

Hope to meetup with LND and some of the others going into the HOF. Imagine they will meet at the north end of the field. Tomorrow we'll be able to hear the pep band and hopefully they will be sporting new shirts.  I'd love to hear the Olympic theme again when the cats take the field.
