DGI,

I'm still learning English, and it's not PC to pick on the minorities.

Tuxguy,

Nope, #3 isn't the one I'm talking about, but he probably will be, too.  I heard from a relative of his that there is a possibility that our own..............da da da................
drum roll........ #11 could be on both lines! That will put the fear into the young 'Cats!

Here we go again!  This week we have a full slate of conference games (finally):

Linfield at  University of Puget Sound  UPS is on the rise but suffered a frustrating defeat last week to PLU.  The Cats are not the huge powerhouse of the last couple of years but still possess a potent offense and strong D.  UPS relies on the running game and controlling the clock which works well unless they get down in the game.  The Cats have been pretty good against the run and their passing heavy offense will likely give UPS trouble.  Look for the Cats to put up some early points which forces UPS to throw more than they want.  Cats win it bigger than people expect.  Linfield 42 UPS 14

Whitworth at Pacific Lutheran:   Whitworth is obviously the team to beat in the NWC this year BUT, Pacific Lutheran is not nearly as bad as their record indicates.  Looks to me like PLU likes to put the ball in the air but has also been hurt by the passing game of their opponents while playing very well against the run.  Whitworth has a more balanced attack on offense but Joel Clark is probably gonna have to have a good game throwing the ball in this one.  This game could end up being a shoot out if both teams avoid turnovers (which have been problems for both of them this year).  I'm gonna stick with Whitworth but in a close one:  Rats 35 Lutes 28

Menlo at Lewis and Clark:  I already made my prediction on this one last week.   Menlo wins it  28-14  Looking more closely, Lewis and Clark has no running game and relies on an iffy passing game.  Their Defense has been hurt by the run AND the pass.  Menlo tries to run a balanced offense but their offense has been only maginally impressive.  Their Defense was looking pretty strong until Willamette had their way with them.  Still, Lewis and Clark is not at the level of Willamette (sorry Pios) and is still trying to re-establish a program so I look for Menlo to win this one.  And, while I hate to second guess my snap-judgement-prediction of last week, I'm gonna change this one to Menlo 28-Lewis and Clark 7 (on one big play).

Willamette has the week off (they probably need the rest).
Go Cats!

coco,

Come to think of it, I did hear that! I hope GHC has some of his liquid magic left! :D
Oops, I have the jug! It's empty :o, don't tell!

d-train,
I'm sure Mrs. 11 has the heating pad warming up as we type. And some bengay, maybe some etc, etc. etc........... Oh to be young again, I need all those things just to mow the yard!  ;)

Not a big deal, but MonroviaCat,  Linfield plays at UPS........  I like your score!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

light n' darkness

my thoughts:

so the cats have a "w". great, but .......

"what have you done for me lately?"

that game is over, gone .......done. big deal...... i need to see what we do this week.

The big story for Willamette this year has been turnovers.  In their one win this year they managed to keep the ball but in their losses they have had a bunch of turnovers.  Their offense is more balanced (or less effective running......forcing more passes) this year than in years past.  Their Defense gives up big plays which has killed them this year.  I think they are down this year for sure BUT when they control the turnovers and minimize the big plays on D they can be a competitive team.  That's my 2cents.
Against Menlo Willamette came out passing which surprised everyone. That then set up the run with the Oaks back on their heels. I was impressed with the way the WU QB threw the ball. Seemed he threw well in the first half against the Cats. If he can cut down on the picks thrown, Bearcats would be much better.

As usual, I pretty much agree with your analysis / predictions MonroviaCat.

Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

D-Train,

I'm at work with only minor pains and bruising.  I only played one series at OT and almost got our QB killed twice.  Needless to say I'm better at chasing QB's than protecting them.

I really appreciate the players that came back to play in the Alumni vs JV football game last night.  It was a great time and I'm most thankful we all walked off the field with only some scrapes and nothing more serious.  Really proud of the alumni players that came back and played all out the whole night.

I'll probably post up a photo link early next week.

11,

What was the score last evening?  I didn't see a press writeup on the Linfield site this morning.  Hopefully a good time was had by all!
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Don't expect a release on the game either, '64.    The SID is plenty busy with varsity events....cut him a break on JV games for goodness sakes!

(and before you ask, there will be no stat box available either)

Well, shoot, that's not too bad then. I've still got 'minor pains and bruising' from a wild a$$ party in Sunriver this weekend.  :D

I'm sure you had a great time. I wish PLU still did the Alumni game thing. Congrats on bringing it back to Linfield. I know you play/played a huge role in that.
