You did a great job last night, WC11, in the All Stars against the Little 'Cats. The young guys looked pretty good, but the alums were a thing of beauty, uh, some more than others.

The Central alumni came back this year for the dedication of the Ron and Joyce Schipper Field the week before the season started.  There were over 90 alums that attended and played.  One that had graduated in 1974.  That guy besides the grey hair looked pretty good out there.  He didn't play a lot but he played.  The old players can still move and hit.

I think Saturday's Whitworth - PLU game should be a good one.  The Lutes have found their stride offensively and that win over UPS should give them quite a boost of confidence.

Truthfully, I am a little concerned about Whitworth's offense.  Not too worried, because Joel Clark has shown that when he has the ball in the final minutes with the game on the line, he gets it done.  But this offense has not had the explosive spark of the last couple of seasons.  Now it could be that the Stout and Azusa defenses were just that good.  I guess we will learn a lot Saturday.  The last two years the Pirates have been able to burn the PLU defense pretty good, including 50+ points at Sparks last fall.

One other thing - I wanted to give props to Adam, the guy who writes the Around the Region for the west.  He always has his done first, or nearly so.  And it is always informative.  Thanks Adam!

I would like to clarify that my time out was not connected to any Rowan fan.

I would state that my time out was a result of my posting innaccurate information.

I would state that changing my moniker is not related.

Had a great weekend.  The BWC was great, especially the drink cart talent, nice touch.  On Sat the tailgate action was, well now just what can you say, Actually, I think I overdid it on the Longie mix, there was actually leftovers after the game, that never happens.  And finally the Alumni game on Monday was fun.  It was great to see the boys put it out there one more time.  The Cat tradition is strong, the old Cats the Young Cats, great action, great fun.
See you all in Tacoma this week.  I will be parked over by the baseball field, whoever has my Longie container please drop it off and I will refill it on the spot so we can get busy.

   GO CATS
The second round of the playoffs are this week.
Phone it in.

From the Linfield-UPS write-up...

"All-star running back Rory Lee (6-0, 220, Sr., Seaback, Wash.) leads the NWC in rushing with 429 yards and four touchdowns, leading a ground attack that averages an NWC-best 236 yards a game."

Wow. Two hundred thrity six YPG on the ground is pretty dog-gone impressive. I knew their ground game was good but that's a little surprising.

If the team averages 236 YPG and Lee is averaging 107 YPG, then that leaves another 129 YPG by the rest of the team, which itself (the 129 part) is more than our entire O did on the ground last week. (For comparison, we're only averaging 90.7 YPG.)

Looks like our D better bring the velcro gloves this week.

 Cats Fa Natic:

While the running game is impresive for UPS you should note also that they average only 55 yds per game of passing offense.  This is over 200 yds/game less than the Wildcats!  Like I said in my prediction post;  if the Cats an put up some early points and force UPS to throw more.....look out!  By the way, a lot of UPS's other rushing yards come from the QB (maybe 1/2 of the remaining yards).  So, if the Cat's can put pressure on him (both when he's running and passing), we'll really be able to limit UPS's options!

GO CATS!

Rushing for 225+ is made way less impressive when taken along with their passing numbers. Less than 300 yards of offense is nothing to be all that scared of- containing the slippery qb is job #1. UPS is going to want to grind this one out, so the offense needs to score some points. The 'cats get ahead by 14 pts? This game will be all over.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

I think as long as the Cats can score 29 points or more, UPS won't have a chance. They can't seem to  break that 28 point barrier.

I doubt they'll score 28 on you guys unless they get a cheap one or two in mop-up time. 175-200 yards rushing, maybe...but not 28 points. {They're limited by their style of offense in that regard.}

From want I hear, PLU is capable of 28 against the 'Cats and Pirates. But only if they keep their turnovers way down from where they've been. Then again, it doesn't appear to be very hard to score 28+ on the Lutes as they continue to struggle with the move from a 3-4 to a 4-2-5 under their new coordinator.

DT,
Ive got the Cats as a +21 this week.  If they get up early, which they will, catch up is just not an option for UPS, it never has been.  They, Im sure want to control the Cats by controlling the clock but, the way the Cats are improving they will just roll through town with a W.  The Salty D will take care of the run game.

Phone it in boys, this one is in the bank

Linfield 35 UPS 28. If cats go up big in 1st quarter this could be ugly but I think this will be a tight game.

Whitworth 24 PLU 27.  Don't want to see the rats lose until they get to the catdome but if PLU can cut down the mistakes 'rats will lose.
