They could but I don't think they will.  Whitworth had their starters in until lthe score was 56-3 after the start of the third quarter.  And I would be surprised in UPS did any different, especially since their coach seems to think they have the best team in the NWC and he wanted to prove something.  PLU will get younger kids some PT earlier especially since their season is already lost.  Let the starters have some fun, then get the young guys some experience.  This could also be a chance for PLU to work out some kinks in their running game...I wouldn't be surprised if PLU's passing game takes a backseat for much of this game.  But who knows, maybe PLU puts up triple digits much like the UPS coach claims they could have if they could only throw the football.

Before everyone gets upset, I made that last part up...except for UPS not being able to throw the football.

I think it is more than possible. Maybe another question is: Do we want to see all the NWC teams pound L&C 70-3? Personally, I don't. This isn't your typical "doormat of the league" team right now. It's a team that only a year ago we were afraid of losing for good. I'll admit, I'm a softy right now for L&C rebuilding their program.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

coco

I'm a softy for L&C, too, Foss. I don't want to see them humiliated when they're just getting their program back on its feet. We want them to stick around, and I give those coaches and players credit for being the ones to step up and rebuild the program.

Wildcat11, that sucks. You've put a lot of work into those clips, and we've all been enjoying them. Why the hell should a monster like Google care about a small setup like this aimed at a small audience? It's not like you're making any money from it.

Not to be an apologist for big corporations, but I'm going to guess it's more about Google protecting itself from the copyright lawyers at the NFL rather than WC11.  Big entertainment companies (and I'm including NFL Properties in that) like Disney, Time Warner, etc. watch this stuff very closely and will go to great lengths to protect what seem like trivial infringements . . . what's that about bleeding from a million cuts?

It still sucks, I liked WC11's posts, even though they at time brought great painful memories . . .  ;)

PLU won't put up 70 pts becuase I don't t hink their defense will be able to dominate a decent L&C passing game AND their offense will turn the ball over a few times (at least) which will cut down on their scoring.   Then again, any given Saturday..... :)

Go Cats!  2 more days till we carve some Oak!

Man MCat, you and I think a lot alike. The way both teams turn the ball over, the PLU - L&C game could turn into one where both teams look like they don't want the ball. You take the ball. No, you take it. Uh uh, I insist you have it. ;D

Have a nice BBQ as the Cats burn the Oaks!

MonroviaCat

Cawcdad....great minds....you know the rest.  Sadly though, last weeks game was one of those games.  The only difference was that the Cats found other ways of giving the ball back to the Lutes (e.g. "fine....we'll kick a field goal or score a TD so we don't have to hold onto this piece of pig-skin any longer..." :) )
Go Cats!

Tooth, I underdstand your point.  The thing that bothers me is that my wife shilled out the $100 for the 10 disk set of music so it's not like I'm ripping off the NFL.  Oh well, if You Tube bounces me off their site then no bid deal....there are other sites I can use.....

In terms of Lewis and Clark.  I just hope that the rest of the NWC teams will hold off from putting up anymore 70 spots on the Pios.  This situation is different from when Linfield put up 62 last year on a program that has arrived like UPS.  Like Foss pointed out and we all know that we need L&C to be a healthy program so I don't see the point in curb stomping them this year.  Hey RL, congrats on "dominating" the Pios.  Way to go big guy.

Interesting rankings...I'd say Linfield is right where they should be...Good to see that the people doing the rankings aren't fooled by Oxy's record.  Bad to see they continue to be fooled by the Wisconsin schools, LaCrosse got blown out in their loss to WW.  Linfield should have a good chance to jump at least Oxy if they get it done against Whitworth in two weeks.  They should jump LaCrosse but I'm not holding my breath.

Wouldn't it be classic if they send undefeated Oxy to the Catdome to 2 loss Linfield...AGAIN... :D

Let's get by Menlo first though...

Personally I'd love to see the Cats vs Oxy matchup no matter where its held.  Obviously theres no place like home at the CATDOME but Oxy has one of the most underated offenses in the West.  The last two years they have been one of the few teams able to give the Cats a challenge during the playoffs.  Other than the obvious games with the Johnnies or Central, are there any playoff matchups that the Cat Nation wants to see?

I would hardly call Oxy's offense underated, nor would I agree that they gave Linfield tougher games. They gave Linfield a tough quarter in '04. They are a talented team year in and year out though- or at least as long as Collins is under center.

I want the Johnnies.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

WC...I read that article in the Trib.  Gotta love the sound bites outta that guy.  If you looked up consistent in the dictionary, his picture wouldn't be there. :D  You have got to be fired up about the four TD's against a team that everybody gets about five deep at every position into the game.  It's like shootin' fish in a barrell kinda like when Linfield plays UPS.  ;)

UPS' starters only played the first half last week against L&C, where they were up 42-7 at half. As far as PLU scoring 70... it depends on how many times they want to give up the ball.

Doesn't every coach think that?

Hey RL, congrats on "dominating" the Pios.  Way to go big guy.

You can't point a finger at a player like that. If the coach called the play, he'll run it, and its not like he's going to hold back. Nobody pointed a finger at Joel Clark when Whitworth won (although I might've missed it).

RL said. "They're a young team and they're having a rough season. We just dominated them."

Don't have any issue for players running plays that coaches call.

I think the first sentence of RL's quote is fine and very respectful....however the "We dominated them" is pretty comical to say.

TNT article.

I have no problem w/ RL's comment. UPS did dominate the game. Back in '01, '02, and '03 when Linfield "dominated" UPS, shuting us out, I wouldn't have been upset if a player said in a newspaper that they dominated us, because they did. I would have been upset if they had been playing their starters into the 4th quarter or been calling timeouts with under a minute left in the game or playing their starters on the other side of the ball, like one team did against UPS in '02.
