Thanks Topcat1

Not happy to hear that rain is expected next Saturday....I am back in Sunriver until Friday....I couldn't help but notice the "Carry Chains or Traction Tire" warnings over the Santiam pass.  Is snow a serious threat this time of year over Santiam?  If so, can chains be bought from "roadside" vendors?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Hi criswyly

Just checked out the local weather and it is now calling for some snow over Santiam but nothing major is suppose to happen since it is still kind of early in the Cascades.  The carry chains is pretty normal beginning in the middle of October.  Just in case, you may want to stop at the Les Schwab in Bend or Sisters and pick up a pair of chains.  If you don't use them and they are not taken out of the box, you can return them to any Les Schwab for a full refund.

I did see where the weather forcast for the local Catdome area on Saturday is calling for cold temperaturs requiring high octane body warmers  in the late morning hours followed in the early afternoon by a heavy down pour of flying purple frisbees with dense fog advisories in affect for the east side of the dome.  The LC weather service says the dense fog, heavy downpour and high winds blowing at the surface will keep all Pirates in port.

This weeks NWC schedule (for your cut, paste, and predict convenience):  More detailed calls to come later but for now....

Whitworth at Linfield:  Cats win (they have to)

Menlo at Puget Sound:  Loggers roll

Lewis and Clark at Willamette:  Willamette wins it in a close one.

PLU has the week off to prepare for Willamette on the 11th (that game could be a fun one).
Go Cats!

Those look good to me, Monrovia. Will you be able to make it up for a game this season?

Topcat,

I didn't see the usual jug this week, but I had my normal brews, and Mrs. C was drinking a chocolate martini out of her travel mug. The TG was good, but the game was better, especially the second half.

For those who didn't attend, the HoF banquet was outstanding. There were so many fine introductions of the inductees (Ad is such an exceptional person), and the speeches the inductees gave were both humorous and touching. I think everyone enjoyed it a lot.

Highly unlikely that I'll make it up for a game this year.  I'm kind of hoping the cats end up down south for a playoff game (knock on wood).  But who knows..... :)
Go Cats!

The latest QOW is out and the least points for an undeafeated D3 team goes to....WHITWORTH !

Does this mean a cat win Saturday will drop the 'cats QOW ranking?
They get 14 points for a win.  Their QOW should go up.

Here are some more Cats and Rats stats. Hey I like numbers. A comparison of the two teams versus common opponents. Both played PLU in Puyallup, both played Willamette at home. Whitworth was at Menlo while the Cats had the Oaks in McMinnville.

vs. Menlo:
Cats W 21 - 3  Rush O 128  Pass O  281  Rush D  91    Pass D  160  TOP -3  Turnovers: Cats threw 3 picks and had 2 Lost 3 fumbles and recovered none
Rats W 26 - 7  Rush O  63    Pass O  255  Rush D  119  Pass D 69     TOP +4 Turnovers: Threw 1 pick and had one pick. No fumbles lost or recovered.  Clark did throw one pass straight at a Menlo LB who was so surprised he put his hands up like in self defense and just wound up knocking it down.
Whit only scored 2 offensive TDs and stalled twice in the red zone and had to settle for field goals.

vs. PLU:
Cats W 44 - 21  Rush O 125  Pass O  328  Rush D  85    Pass D  209  TOP +8  Turnovers: Cats threw 4 picks and had 4. Lost 1 fumble and recoverd 3
Rats W 19 - 7  Rush O  192    Pass O  250  Rush D  44  Pass D 141     TOP +27 Turnovers:
Threw 2 pick and had 4. Lost 1 fumble and recovered 1.
Rats D numbers are skewed a bit considereing that Whit had the ball for 43 minutes to PLU's 17, yet still only won by 12.

vs. Willamette:
Cats W 42 - 14  Rush O 120  Pass O  346  Rush D  74    Pass D  196  TOP +3  Turnovers: Cats threw 3 picks and had 1. Lost 1 fumbles, recovered 2
Rats W 28 - 14  Rush O  99    Pass O  235  Rush D  139  Pass D 50     TOP -4 Turnovers:
Threw none and had one. Lost one fumble, recovered none.

509 Guess you just don't get it my man.  although we expect the boys to get it done on Sat, Its not our job  to cry about anything, it is about reloading for year 52 and on.

You crack me up.  Where do you get that stuff, must be sitting around all day polishing your ring and pondering the rats future .  Oh wait a minute- you don't have a ring!!!

THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL !!!

O.K. I've had a chance to crunch the numbers using my highly sophisticated formula that looks at common opponents, average pts for/against, and several random mathematical errors and/or bull-sh*t.  Anyway, here is what I come up with:

Whitworth at Linfield: Whitworth's weakness on D is against the run (and I mean this in relative terms) and that Cats will have to play a good running game this weekend while Whitworth's D will hold down the passing attack some (though the Cats air game will be the best the Rats have seen to date).  The Rats offense will have to try to air it out more than they usually do which could lead to some big picks by the Cats.  I think this game will be close but the Cats are at home and have more weapons (as long as they don't give the Rats the ball like they've done with PLU and Menlo the last two weeks).  Cats 28-Rats 17 (I think  UMHBalumincatland had a very similar score which, if you can believe it, I did not remember till after coming up with my score....).

Menlo at UPS:  UPS is at home and is looking pretty good.  Menlo continues to have a meager offense that has not been able to keep up with their opponents.  Their Defense has been better but will not be able to withstand the constant pounding of the Logger running game and ball control offense.  This game will go quickly as both teams like to run.  UPS wins it with their patented 28 pts:  Loggers 28 chop down the Oaks 14.

Lewis and Clark at Willamette:  Lewis and Clark continues to rebuild and Willamette finally has things running pretty good (sure they lost to Whitworth last week but they made it look half-way respectable).  L&C is giving up 58.7 pts per game on the road while scoring only 6.7.  Willamette is giving up 33.6 pts at home while scoring 11.  For both teams they will be facing the worst defensive teams (on paper) that they have seen this year.  However, Willamette has the better offense (and is more balanced) and has improved more than the Pios.  Bearkitties win 42 to the Pios 28.

Go Cats----one WIN at a time!  This is the big one (for the week)! :) :) :)
Go Cats!

Nice to see both the 'Cats and 'Rats stayed focused the last few weeks in order set up this much anticipated game for the NWC championship. Both overcame adversity - the 'Cats caught the turnover bug and still got it done, and the 'Rats finally got over Willamette.

I don't recall the last time a 'Cat RB rushed for over 100 yards in a game. 2 years? 3?

Bluenote has made it known he can't stand Bush. But I'm thinking he is a fan of R(e)agan.  :)
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I don't know which one of the boys has ole blue, but if you will bring it to the tailgate I will bring down my special mix of RAT POISON for the tailgate.

You're right I don't get it...because I can't understand it.  What are you even saying?  Must be from all the inbreeding going on in Mac, or maybe its just the quality education their giving you guys down at linfield.

This one should be a doozy, I think it will be closer than the last two predictions that were given...and the the RATS will be victorious.  You may have 51 straight wining seasons, but the playoff run is ending this year.  No 3 loss team will make it this year, not even the Cats.

Cats 31

WOW, thanks for proofing my post.  My fingers were kind of cold, cause I was up on the roof repairing a leak on my single wide.  Had to get er done before Springer comes on.

At least you're honest GHC...but on a more serious note, I hope you aren't taking any of this too seriously.  I have a lot of respect for Linfield's program and their fans...especially since I Linfield has been the only field where I've seen close to as many fans as we had at high school games.  You guys have been great for the NWC, but your reign as conference champs had to come to an end sooner or later.
