One other point - Whitworth was able to win at Linfield in conditions that heavily favored the Wildcats.  IMO, the heavy wind and rain minimized the impact of the Pirates' speed on both offense and defense and maximized the Wildcats physical superiority on both lines.

Getting a win in that situation is remarkable.

There is no way the Pirates take Lee or UPS lightly next week because too much is riding on the outcome.

Did you go to the game pinecone?  How do you figure the sideways wind and rain helped Linfield's passing attack?  Last time I checked Linfield's defense was built around blitzing and speed...Whitworth's offense has been stuck in park for six weeks the rain wasn't the reason today...

Congratulations, Whitworth. As others have said, I hope you represent the NWC well in the playoffs.

Our D was awesome today, and we'll be back next year.

It was good to see D-train and FM76.

Now we've got to get ready for the ACL-destroying field next week.

ps.
You didn't change my mind on Lee...he gets his yards against the L&C's, Menlo's, Colorado College's, SCIAC softy's and the Washington School of the Blind's of the world...he's wack...

So the entire NWC is a "joke" other than Linfield? I could rattle off the staggering statistics that he has put up the past 3 years, especially in the conference, against teams other than Linfield. But I think his statistics speak for themselves. Why call a hard-working guy who has taken a beaten every fall Saturday the past 4 years a joke (or that he's "wack")? If I called "so-and-so" from Linfield a "joke" I would be run off this board in less than a minute.

J-O-K-E and if you did and it was true...nobody would argue.

By the way...the crowd today was great.  Loud and at the right times.  Fun to be a part of.  Tough when the ducks and beavs are at home at the same time.  Great work everybody who braved it!

I know that this is America and everyone has their right to free speech, but calling out a college athlete and saying he's terrible or a joke in an arena where he could read the material I believe is disrespectful. If he was a professional athlete, then go ahead, but an amateur athlete shouldn't have to endure negative comments in a public forum.

My take in no particular order:
Tough weather day for a football game....
A highly entertaining game from start to finish...
Thank God for the Catdome to keep the fans dry.
Playing with the lights on took a lot of the dreariness out of the weather.
Absolutely a sterling performance by the Linfield defense.
This is an excellent "first season" for Linfield's Joe Smith.
Enjoyed meeting Fatman 76, Spiritof86, GHC and OregonCity....Oh yeah...and D-train.
Thanks to Olinemom for Rock's Cat bracelet.

It's been a great trip...but I am looking forward to my family's return to Mongolia.  Hopefully, next time I'll get back to the Catdome sooner than later.

Congratulations to Whitworth!
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Props to Whitworth---you guys made less mistakes and capitolized enough times on the Cats many mistakes.  There will be a lot of should of, would of, could of talk from us Cats fans (just like last year after the UWW game).  That is becuase as fans, we expect the best out of our Cats and when they lose an important game, especially a big one like this we will analyize every point that could have gone our way to change the game and I don't think anybody (Rat or Cat) will argue that there were plenty of opportunities for the Cats to win this game from their first drive (fumbled at the Rat 5) to their last (4th down pass broken up in the endzone).  There has been a lot of talk about the Cats having the better talent and/or better team and while I tend to agree I also have to say that one talent that we have not seen the past 3 weeks is holding onto the ball.  I wasn't at the game so I don't know how all of those fumbles occurred but it sounds like at least some of them were just sloppy ball carrying.  Sad for us but you Rats knew what to do with the ball today.  Good Luck to both teams next week!

M-Cat signing off for now.
Go Cats!

pineconefan and Whitworth fans,

Congrats and best of luck in the playoffs. I hope you show the same kind of poise and grit in the playoffs that you've shown during some of your close, difficult regular season games.

Incredible performance by the 'Cat defense today, especially when you consider how many times they were put in a very bad position.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Well....it wasn't all sloppy ball carrying. The ball was knocked out several times by physics and position of the defender and probably some had to do with the weather also. It happens. How many fumbles are listed for Whitworth? They had 3- 4 bad snap fumbles that Clark had to fall on or retreive...and their punter got off a miracle after a bobble that should have been blocked and carried in for a TD. Clark didn't impress me much at all, either did their big tight end. Scharer looked like Joe Montana compared to Clark. He passed the ball 10 times better and he ran 10 times better also. The kid from Western Oregon was 10 times better than their tight end. I know, I saw Western play like 3 times this year. Whitworth has a great defense though, I'll give them that, but I'd take ours over theirs any day. Seemed like Whitworth had all the breaks today when it counted. But that's football. Linfield had a 1st or 2nd and like 45 yards after a double penalty and fought back made the first down.... etc!

Congrats to Whitworth for a great victory regardless of the explanations, Disppointing for sure to the Wildcats.

Congratulations Jay locey and the Beavers.  44-10 Vs. the Sun Devil's is no mean feat.
That is a great victory  particularly coming right behind a victory vs. USC.
