I agree. Who cares about a UPS-Menlo game. But one last thing about what Hatchetman said about the UPS-PLU games in '01 and '02. I was on the UPS teams during those two years when we played PLU. Our team dealt with a lot of tough blowouts and such. But what PLU did in '02 made me lose a lot of respect of their coaching staff. I still have a tremendous amount of respect for their program, their fans, and their players, but that game made me sick. Not only did they have offensive guys playing defense and defensive guys play offense, but they were driving to score with under a minute left and called a timeout. I mean the game was about 42-0, and they put the game away in the first quarter, jumping out to a 28 or 35 to nothing lead. That was much worse than any game where teams had their starters in during the fourth quarter in a blowout against us.

I also played in that 02' game as a senior and I can understand your frustration with certain things in that game.  However, I would like to point out that the score at the end of the first quarter was 35-0 and the final score was 42-0 so I wouldn't say that we tried to light up the scoreboard.  Our starters on only played the first quarter and a couple of series in the third quarter.  The offensive players that played on D were only the seniors, we had 11 seniors and we planned a senior series on both sides of the ball.  The time out was bush league and everyone knew it, that is why a knee was taken after that time out.  I think it was a player that called the timeout.

Thanks coco...went to the fridge got some rat poison (All us Rats are immune now after the game in Linfield) and feel much better.

Congratulations again, 509. Your guys won, and you'll hear no whining from me.
I hope you represent the NWC well.

(509)Rat....Linfield hangs on to the ball we beat your Whitworth team by 2-3 TDs, simple as that. If you were at the game you know what I'm talking about. Whitworth has a great D but your offense is average, either that or we made you look average or poor even. But wait a second...your defense isn't that great either since we drove the ball down your throats all afternoon and were only stopped by our own mistakes. That's why I think Linfield would be a better playoff team because we can score on the teams like the Johnnies, Central and Whitewater where as you'll have trouble. Plus our defense is just as good if not better than yours. You may do ok vs Oxy but that's another story. Wait.... you have to play the high flying Loggers...so watch out!!!

TDT....hopefully we'll see a Johnnie vs Whitewater matchup in the first round. I'm sure you'd enjoy seeing that.

RFB.....the trueth is sometimes a bitter critter.... isn't it. And don't call the kettle black....we're not bitter...we're better!

(509)Rat

Come on coco, don't count yourselves out just yet...The d3 pollsters obviously realize you are a good team, hopefully the NCAA comittee will too.  But then again, I would rather play OXY than have to face the wildcats again.

Some bitter responses going on here. Congrats to Whitworth on a hard fought win.

Bluenote, I was at the game, thought it was two very even teams playing in horrible weather.  If that game is played nine times out of ten regardless of who wins each game, no way is there ever a 2-3 td spread in the final score.  Congratulations, your defense held a team who traditionally throws the ball well, to 85 yards...oh yeah thats right Whitworth consciously decided not to throw the ball handing the game to the defense to win, unlike Linfield who kept trying to run the ball with the same player who lost three fumbles.  Way to make adjustments Bluenote, too bad Locey isn't there anymore...no way does he let that happen.  Now this Coco charcter is a real fan...you are just a bitter kitty.

(509)Rat, trust me, all the 'Cats will be rooting for you in the playoffs. But I must point out that Linfield's starting RB had two fumbles (one stripped and brought back for a TD). However, he was replaced at times, and his replacement also fumbled twice, so they weren't all from the same player.

(509)Rat...coco is much more diplomatic and well manored than I tend to be at times. We each have our own style.... and I like pineconefan better than you so there! ;D

Merry Christmas and don't mess up next week..... :P

(509)Rat

Bluenote,
And on the other end Pineconefan is much more well manored than myself.

We here at Whitworth prefer to celebrate our holidays in order that they appear on the calender so we celebrate in Thanksgiving, all of the gifts (7 to be exact) Linfield hath given to us.

509-

You're just like the kid in high school that feels up a girl for the first time and thinks that you've got game.

Trust me, it's not you, it's her.

Try no to embarass the NWC against OXY.

OC Cat99-

I laughed out loud when I read your post.  That's the truth!!  ;D  On the other hand if Oxy loses to Whitworth it will prove what everybody has thought all along...

Bluenote, I really don't know how to feel about Linfield being better than all the teams in the west but two.  I think they have the athletes to play with any of the teams in the west and if they played a perfect game could beat almost all of them.  But on the other hand, we turned it over 17 or 19, I'm not sure the exact number but 17-19 times in the last three weeks.  That to me has gone from a fluke to a trend.  I think those great young athletes have a lack of respect for the football and I don't see how the trend would stop against teams that are going to be 10 times better than the ones we've played the last three weeks.

You saw Whitewater last year, if we played those guys and gave it to them seven times, it would have been 56-13.  Same with St. Johns in the past and we'd probably only only steak by Rowan by a field goal.  I while I would love a shot at oxy or another at Whitworth...I don't know about the rest of the field.

DT48,

I said something along the same lines as bluenote, but I probably should have added UW-La Crosse to the list we wouldn't be favored to beat (if they are kept in the West). I felt that if we can play the #9 team in the country like that, we could beat many other top teams in the West (except for SJU, UW-Whitewater, and UW-La Crosse unless we played a perfect game) IF we don't turn the ball over. But if he were to keep giving it away like we have the last few weeks (and yes, that might just be part of the way we'd play the rest of the year) we would get beaten down big time. There isn't much of a chance of seeing how we would do now, and the 'Rats earned their spot.
